Some great cat pics on here. Nice seeing them grow up and looking happy/content. I feel a little inadequate now as we only have the two (Izzy from Mexico and Tabitha the three-legged monster). It's going to be quite an experience moving them to Mexico soon.

Good question. In some ways the whole hot/cold debate was part of it. We were there a couple weeks ago, and she was decidedly unimpressed with how cold and windy it was for June. Lots of bugs too. She found it all too much work. Biggest issue though was forest fires. It was actually pretty brutal, and although Northern Ontario does not have a history of the fires they've had this year, I think climate change is going to have a big impact going forward. I've agreed to (possibly) sell up here in Vancouver, quit work and move to Mexico this October. She's been relentlessly nagging me about it since we returned. We won't need to sell the off-grid property, so if I'm not happy with the intense heat of summers in Mexico, I'll just fuck off back to Ontario myself (spoiler: I will).

Cold. Put a fucking sweater (jumper) on. The wife wants to move to Mexico full time now - she was giddy about it being 42C yesterday. No chance.

It will be very interesting to see what happens when the screenwriter's (WGA) strike ends. It really is an existential battle between billion dollar production companies and the value of writers in the age of AI and streaming services/royalties. The entire film industry (at least in North America) has pretty much ground to a halt. I don't expect it will end anytime soon, and I doubt it will ever be the same, or as good.

Nein. Danke. Haven't been posting on here much of late. Great progress Carradona.....Congrats ! We've had trouble finding a contractor/builder, and since we needed somewhere to move to before we could sell our place here in Vancouver, we decided to buy a house in Sudbury, Ontario, two hours from the property. Now we're broke. The current plan is to cash in and retire there next summer and start building soon after, starting with a garage and services. In the meantime we can drive out to the lake and camp/hike/swim and just enjoy it. We're going there at the end of the month for a few days...can't wait.

Won't make any difference to the average Canadian, as most foreign buyers are looking at the top of the market. Even in places like Vancouver, they are only around 5% of the buyers.
