  1. If Torres stayed because he believed Purslow's stories about an imminent sale - more fool Torres. I won't say the same about Gerrard because he never intended to leave because nobody wanted him.
  2. It seems Tony Evans of The Times was right yesterday when he said that Huang might pull out soon because of Broughton's faffing around. He even suggested he might do it today.
  3. Simon Pickett started life as a George Formby tribute act at the Blackpool Tower. Later he introduced his sons to his act and gave them the name Northwest Backers. They employed washing board, tin whistle and an antique car horn among other instruments. Simon is a non-practising atheist.
  4. I saw that - but I'm not sure that's what he meant. Somebody on RAWK had earlier produced a mock-up of what a Huang press release might look like -or should look like. It seems to me that Shankslegend was referring to that - apparently making the mistake of thinking it was a genuine press release. He was probably reinforced in this mistake by the Echo claim that Huang would be making a statement today. SL does play games and milk his so-called "inside information" but in so far as he has any at all it seems to be very low level third-hand chatter among employees at Melwood or Anfield. So its feasible he might known someone who knows about arrangements to meet Huang next week - even though he could not even nail whether it was in Liverpool, Manchester or London. RAWK is very sensitive about SL and is liable to ban anyone who questions his often laughable ITK posts.
  5. Its just because he's fat. We know you don't like fat men. Are you fat? Or is it because he's bald? Are you?
  6. You say elswhere that you have learned to question everything and everybody. But you trust the Chairman. A lot of paid and unpaid PR has gone into convincing people that the Chairman is wise and just and truly independent working in the best interest of LFC. We are also told he is an astute business man. But we know he is not a business owner. None of his own money is at risk He is an employee at BA and at LFC. He manages other peoples business. My understanding is that Huang has complied with the rules of the sales including the provision of the proof of funds that the Chairman required in the Memorandum of Sale provide to all interested bidders. But on Sunday Purslow broadcast that the bidders had not yet provided proof of funds and that no bidder out of five was stronger than any other. At this stage Huang has every right to make a judgment about the integrity of the process, and whether it would be better for his backers if he were to walk way or to retire for a time to allow the Chairman and Purslow to fail thereby leaving an opening for Huang to come back from another direction and succeed in his ultimate objective of acquiring LFC. There is no reason why a genuine businessman representing genuine entrepreneurs should play by the rules of a couple of salaried part time club employees, in the shape of Brougton and Purlsow, neither of whom have proven themselves to be working for the good of the club, despite all their PR efforts to convince us otherwise. The risk for Huang is that if he walks away he emboldens GH and potential competitive bidders. It would be better for him to hold Broughton and the club to the terms of the Memorandum of Sale, and get the club now.
  7. ....says the Leader of the Bascomites. Even Dave U knows the Bascombe figures are a cock-up. You're way out of your depth. Go back to sticking pins in your Rafa doll until this is all over and we can explain it to you.
  8. Your blind with jealousy that Andy and the two Tonys are ITK. Why don't you go and have another cup of tea with David Moores - or think up some other lame look-at-me-ruse.
  9. If this post has any relevance or substance could someoene summarise it in a few words in Bold.
  10. If you can get Carragher to get a shirt signed by Rafa (LFC or Inter) I might be interested. Otherwise, no thanks.
  11. Was he part of the family that owned the Blue Bar at the Albert Dock and one of its managers? And if so is he the guy who used to feed Kraptalk gossip about Robbie Fowler?
  12. According to a lively thread on RAWK Sky Sports were caught broadcasting images of three Kop banners yesterday altered to include Hodgson's head. The owners of at least two of the banners have contributed to the thread and said that the banners were not altered by them. The accusation is that Sky is pursuing its extraordinary anti-Rafa pro "English" Hodgson agenda. This post from Fatscouser : Okay. All our supporters who weren't bothered about Rafa going or even wanted him out, can't all be labeled Skywashed. But let's be honest, an awful lot of them were and this is just another, not so subtle, way of brainwashing them further. It makes me laugh when people say, "Oh it's just the media, just take no notice." Sky and Talk Shite are huge. They have massive influence on what people think. And for the last 3 and a half years they have constantly slammed Rafa and brainwashed some people into actually hating the man. And now they are on a mission to make out that everyone of us is happy. The fact is, the owners who have hamstrung our club, are still here and still fucking us to the tune of 770,000k a week. When have they ever bothered to point this out? In fact, by constantly stabbing Rafa and making him out to be the cause of LFC's troubles, they have actually helped to prolong the tenure of H&G. And by going on this way over the top Royfest, they will continue to aid and abet them. This is every bit as bad as twisting figures to make them look like they provide Rafa with bottomless billions. And if I was Roy I wouldn't be too pleased to be used as a Patsy like this by them.... not all of us are chuffed, and believe everything will be okay now that we've got an old fashioned, arm around the shoulder, Ingurlush, manmanager. And don't like them bastards making out we are.
  13. Another well-written piece by Jim Boardman. Purslow is a media whore - that's the main reason for his interview. The Broughton rules about media silence is almost killing him. Feeding Bascombe and other journos bits to promote his agenda is no fun when you can't claim credit. Jim was right - the interview was essentially a recital of Broughton's rules and announcements. Purslow added nothing apart from the phrase "written bids". But we hardly thought they were verbal bids did we? As Jim said, he used the issue of the sales process to sound off about the football side of things - a second after admitting that that was not his role. All his comments about Melwood, the manager, the state-of-mind and training habits of players were all designed to justify his manouvers against Rafa and his hiring of Hodgson. There was even an admission that he had told the interviewer in May that Rafa's contract would be reviewed at the end of the season. One can understand why Rafa began to listen to offers about then. If we had known that we might have asked Purslow then what happened to his statement a few months earlier that LFC would adopt the Arsenal and Man Utd model of sticking with the manager through thick and thin and that is why he - Purslow - had arranged a new 5-year contract for Rafa. He even said that principal was essential for stability and development. He also talked about transfers, which he now controls, while at the same time insinuating that somehow Hodgson is in control and that new buys are dependent on Hodgson personally scouting them. Such tosh! Over and above his attempt to sell his management decisions and justify his footballing judgements there was also an attempt to paint himself as some kind of saviour of the club. Still I suppose a guy in an acting position has to try harder if he is to make the job permanent.
  14. Be more specific. You mean Gerrard was giving up last year - after 7 games into the season. so there's still time.
  15. Agree completely. Its laughable how the TLW radicals are radical about one thing only - their personal distaste for Rafa. But if someone feeds their need to feel ITK by offering them a morsel of "inside information" they don't care where it came from - Bascombe, Purlsow, Broughton or Ayre.
  16. We have seen Bascombe for years pursuing the agenda of whoever is his source. He was handed solid sources on the plate when he was with the Echo. Now he has to earn the trust of sources. Nobody trusts him except Carragher and Gerrard. They trust him because they hire him as their biographer - if he doesn't write what they want, they won't give him the business. In the last year Purlsow became Purlsow's favourite outlet in his backstairs campaign against Rafa. During his Purlsow phase Bascombe has come to reflect Purslow shifting agenda with respect to the owners - now calling for supportes to "cut them some slack" and today calling them greedy etc. Last week he gave a garbled explanation of what Purslow had told him about bank charges. He couldn't even get that right when he came to write the report. Because Purslow is his source he may have access to information but Bascombe reputation as a shifty agenda driven journalist, and Purslow's reputation as a self-interested operator means that even if the two of them do put some information in circulation it cannot be trusted. As for his latest report. Read all my posts last week to the effect that the owners would not go quietly whatever the bids or whatever the decison of the board - unless the winning bid covered all their debts - including all the money they have lent the club through Kop Holdings - and giving them at least a nominal profit. I also said that the only way this stalemate can be broken is by the proactive decisions of RBS and susbsequently the courts- if they take it there. I don't claim it is based on sources, just common sense and experience. Others have made the same points many times on other fora. Bascombe re-cycles what others have already published.
  17. This is getting tiresome. It's Rafa, not Hodgson, who secured long contracts for Gerrard and Torres. Gerrard did not stay because of Hodgson but because nobody wanted to buy him. Ditto for Torres - except that there was some limited interest in buying him if he had insisted on leaving and if the price had been right because of that. He did not insist. Torres was brought to LFC by Rafa - remember?
  18. Meanwhile, Rafa was winning his first trophy at Inter beating Juventus and Athletico Madrid in two 45 minute games. He also mentioned that now he has got the team playing there is time for the transfer market. So we will see what, if anything, happens with Masch.
  19. He's trying to establish the rationale for setting up the team to play for a draw at home. He only had 3 PL away wins in two years at Fulham. At home he allowed more attacking but only on counter-attacks. By claiming that LFC is so far behind Arsenal he is saying that he is justified in instructing the players to play like its an away game i.e. deep and defensively. Of course he will be hoping that he gets lucky with counter-attacks.
  20. Apart from all the other mistakes in your post, you also got it wrong about Owen reaching out his hand to LFC . When he was leaving Real Madrid he actively sought interest from Manchester United and Arsenal at the same time as he sought it from LFC. They were not interested. Manchester United were his first choice when he was a kid and his first trials were there - he selected LFC because that's what his father wanted - a row with Ferguson. Last year he confirmed that he always dreamed oif playing for Man Utd.
  21. Due repect to all those who don't like "the Chinese bid" - despite the fact that it is a bid from an international consortium with large USA and Chinese components. However, if the bid does not win - or does not go through - LFC and the rest of the PL will then be facing a "Huang" consortium takeover of another PL club. His plan for the development of football in China and Asia is too solid for him to give it up because he did not get LFC .
  22. He said lacking of experience of the Premier League.
  23. One other aspect of the Huang interview that caught my eye was how he stressed that the weakenss of his group's bid is its lack of knowledge of the Premiere League. I think this is what the oppositon have been hammering. And that is why his PR people began to say last week that (a) he would meet with SOS and all supporter groups and (be) he would appoint old boys to board - like Kenny and Hansen. He had touched other political bases by saying that they were happy enough with how the club was being managed and did not envisage a clear out. This might guarantee them the Ayre and Purslow vote. But I think those two will want it in writing from the current board that they have an extension of their contracts and a golden handshake if they subsequently get the boot from Huang's people or if they decide to jump first. I think Huang is doing well. I won't hold him to his word. I certainly hope he does not appoint Hansen to to board. And I trust that SOS and all the other truly ITK observers who know all the dirty work Purslow has been doing will be instrumental in persuading Purslow to go or persuading the new board to throw him out. After that, a world-class manager can be appointed in time for next season (1911-1912) Huang has already said he wanted Rafa to stay. That may also have been a political statement at that time - April. Even so, it becomes a possibility. Not that I think Rafa will take it unless Purslow has gone, the club is stable and there is a genuine commitment to the things he thinks important such as a strong Academy and a transfer fund. Reading Huang's vision of the development of the club into the future it strikes me that Hodgson is simply not up to it. It needs a manager of Rafa's vision and commitment. If not Rafa there are a few others who would fit the bill.
  24. He means there is a consortium of investors managed by his partner. The investors in that consortium required a confidentiality agreement from him and his partner. They do not want their names released. I think this is perfectly normal and especially so if his investors are governmental and otherwise important. It is not clear if this confidentiality agreement applies (a) only to public disclosure or also (b) disclosure to the board of LFC. If the latter, then he will have to find a way of providing LFC with proof of funds for the removal of debt, the stadium and future operations. There are ways he could do this without disclosing the individual investors - but it would be difficult. So it may be that investors will be disclosed to Barcap and LFC protected by another confidentiality agreement. His statement may also mean he has recently signed a confidentiality agreement with LFC about the bidding process. If it does, he has not breached it in this article. All the facts and events he referred to are already well-known to the interested public. I thought his noteworthy comments were (1) that he underestimated how intrusive and troublesome the media would be, and this is why he felt the need to hire "the largest PR firm" in the UK and (2) that the competitors in the bid were very strong and were using the media very effectively. Overall. he sounded very analytic and workmanlike. His vision or business plan was impressive.
