  1. This. It would be, hands down, the most shocking sporting event of all time if we win the league from here. City will win the three, and hopefully we can get at least the four points required to finish second.
  2. I suppose the one slither of hope is that Everton will know that they can pull to within a point of Arsenal, as they play before them. I think they'll be game, but not good enough. Only City and Chelsea have lost fewer home games over the last couple of years, but they'll be facing a side who can essentially seal the title while lacking some of their best players. 0-3 City.
  3. I think it depends on how City get on. It's massively unlikely, but if they slip up against Everton and throw it back into our hands, I think the team will cope okay. If City, as they almost definitely will, beat Everton, I have a feeling we'll have to settle for third place this season.
  4. Adding Newcastle to that equation cancels Arsenal's incompetence out.
  5. Okay, expecting City to drop points is mad enough, but bothering to even hope that Newcastle can take something from the Emirates is a step beyond too far,
  6. Nah, I'd rather be the team that is certain to win the league if it wins three piss easy games against tripe with nothing left to play for.
  7. Yep. Retaining belief that we're in the title race is like clinging to a gossamer thread in the hope that it will stop you from plummeting to oblivion. We gave City a massive boost today, and are much, much more likely to drop points than they are. I'd go so far as to say it would be the most shocking football related event I've ever heard of.
  8. Absolutely. They've got the title won now - people underestimate the psychological side of the game, and we've handed them a huge boost today. At the very least, we need to match them pound for pound in terms of spending and wages over the summer, or we'll fall short next year too.
  9. This season is gone, but I think we need to see how next year goes before being too down about our title chances going forward. If, for instance, we don't really challenge for the title but still get into the top 4, that should afford another year to see if we can recover. We don't want to end up like Arsenal where perpetual CL football in lieu of silverware is the be all and end all, but we also don't want to be too hasty, especially as we're ahead of where we could have reasonably expected to be this time. On the other hand, if we fall away completely, bigger questions will need to be asked.
  10. No we're not, the title ship has sailed. A huge weight has been lifted from City's shoulders, and there's no way that doesn't see them over the line. Even if, by some miracle, they drop a point, the pressure on our players has become that much greater. Away at Palace is hardly the game you want to try to recover from a humiliating defeat against an XI who'd never set foot on a pitch together. As of today, we're no more likely to win the title this season than we were last year. The possibility just lasted longer this time.
  11. Congratulations to Pellegrini, Manchester City are the best side in the country and have proven it with this title win.
  12. City will be on a massive high. I guarantee they'll twat Palace.
  13. Here comes Torres to revel in his side denying us the title.
  14. We lose today, City win the league - they might as well be given the trophy today. There's no way they drop a single point against the teams they have left to play, especially not with the huge boost our defeat here will hand them. Just watch them go and hammer Palace this afternoon.
