How the fuck have Chelsea not scored there?

    Fuck yes!!

    Very sloppy from Gomez.

    Crystal Palace (H) 24/6/20

Good performance so far, but we can’t keep wasting these chances. Palace are just the sort of team that’ll nick something despite barely being in the game for 80% of the match.

Yeah, improbable as an implosion is, the sooner the better. Limping over the line and clinching it in the last couple of games after holding such a big lead wouldn’t be the ideal precursor to next season,

It’s going to be a tough game against a side well in the mix for fifth and potentially Champions League football. Given the bizarre circumstances we find ourselves in, I’d be reasonably satisfied with another point.

    Everton (A) 21/6/2020

Given how close it is now, any scenario in which we and City finish on 85 each would see them win the league on goal difference. So, one more point would be required to guarantee the title.

I’m not too displeased with that. Yeah, the quality left plenty to be desired but I felt avoiding defeat in this first one was important, because Everton, Palace and City is an awkward (re)start and while, at worst, we'll splutter over the line, doing so with plenty to spare sets us in good stead for next season.

    Smart foul by Origi.

They’re far more likely to win it now. Just keep the ball, stay back and hope for a point, because that’s about as good as it’s going to get this evening with Lovren at the back.

Did I hear 'goal' crowd noise start to play when Richarlison sent a shot into the clouds a few minutes ago?

Such a shame he didn’t have them on course to go down. Now they’ll get their Saudi government takeover which effectively guarantees multiple fake title wins over the next decade and hoards of people swooning over the romance and how they’ve earned their success by “doing it the right way”.

    Never a penalty.

I can see a couple of rocky results. It’s effectively won, but both of those teams can be a pain in the backside and the lack of a crowd gives Everton their best chance in ages to end their frankly pathetic run against us. City looming as the third match doesn’t help. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a relatively barren first few games before clinching it against Burnley or Arsenal, assuming most teams roll over for City as meekly as Arsenal have.

As expected, Arsenal are providing less than no resistance. We’re going to win the league, but it might take a few weeks yet.

CL back as a straight knockout in August in Lisbon. Should definitely be a different / 2/3rds sized trophy for the winner.

Barnes: Werner did not pass the Klopp test

The same article states that, when contacted, the club said it wasn’t a financial decision. With that said, in the next sentence writer states that it would have been a “vast outlay for a player who would have started his Anfield career as a substitute”, so perhaps it was...partially financial? In the sense that the money may have been available for someone who would have a material impact on the first team and go straight in as a starter, but not worth the risk for backup.
  21. Four on the BBC. Sky will be putting a further 25 on Freeview.
  22. I’m sure the mayor's comments of a few weeks ago helped.
  23. This is true, but since the British government is hellbent on killing thousands more by well and truly ending the last vestiges of the “lockdown”, there is no longer any reason for football, which will be a relatively safe environment, not to return.
