Simpsons - Lemon of Troy

As fine and thread-worthy an episode Trash of the Titans is, Lemon of Troy is the one above all others for me. Everything in it - every line and all the animation - is just perfect: from the wet cement, to Shelbyville Manhattan's attractive cousin, to Milhouse becoming invisible, to Rocky VII-Adrian's Revenge, to Bart using aerosols as jetpacks, to "Hark to the Tale of Nelson", to a nice refreshing glass of turnip juice. It's just perfect. Shitty YouTube has let me down, though: I could only find a few clips.

Rest of The World - Bands - Quarter Finals - U2 vs ABBA

A few years ago in work there was just me and one girl in early on. She told me that the previous night she'd walked into the living room, where her mum and dad were watching a documentary. When she asked them what it was, they said "Aberfan". Being partial to a bit of glittery, cheesy disco, she settled down to watch it. After about 10 minutes, she started asking why Sweden's finest hadn't appeared at all. It was at that point that they realised that their daughter was a fuckwit. Bear in mind that she told me this when there was nobody else in the office, so nobody else knew what had happened. Later that day, she called her mum about something. After she hung up, she shouted to me across a crowded office "That was my mum. She's still laughing about Aberfan."

Here's to The Mellifluous One, who makes great occasions even better. He was on fire again last night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkpenzFNbpk

Imagine if you're feeling a bit off, so you go to your doctor for her expert, science-based opinion - and she's wearing a massive sparkly Q badge!

    *Shakes head* Everton again.

Gerrard nonchalantly wearing a blue trackie because 1. It's just a colour; and 2. He's not an infant.

    Keir Starmer

That could be read as a criticism of "partisan stuff" coming from either wing of the party.

Rest of The World - Bands - Quarter Finals - U2 vs ABBA

U2 have got about 7 or 8 great albums. ABBA have got two songs (SOS and The Day Before You Came) that are OK.

I think a lot of people prefer to see a brave Government doing their best in a terrible situation (ignoring the litany of corruption and deadly negligence).

Same as any other business. It's not a question of being "moral guardians". If your awful behaviour keeps the money rolling in, you're welcome to breach the rules; once you become too embarrassing and start to put other customers off, you're out. Trump or Parler getting booted is just business.

    US Election 2020 Thread

Social media platforms have conditions of use. If you breach those conditions you get barred. Their gaff, their rules. It's no more absurd than being banned from Tesco for doing the willycopter in the veg aisle.

    Inequality

It's getting silly now, isn't it. http://morningstaronline.co.uk/a-2ebc-Shameful-wealth-gap-grows-by-a-third#.Vnch6raLRp9 The richest 10% of households have over 900 times the wealth of the poorest 10%. http://uk.businessinsider.com/high-pay-centre-ftse-100-ceo-pay-versus-average-salary-2015-8 Chief Executives are paying themselves 183 times the salary of their average workers. (Not their lowest paid ones - their average earners.) In the last few years there's been a welter of research into the damaging effects of rampant inequality, yet you're still liable to be portrayed as some kind of dangerous subversive or Commie dinosaur if you suggest doing something to remedy it. Strange days.

Apparently the £30 vouchers couldn't be exchanged for any age-restricted products (so no booze, fags or scratchies) so that was always a lie as well as an insult.
