    Sturridge did really well overall but his performances against Reading, Spurs, Everton and especially Southampton were poor. Even in games where he played well and scored there were moments were he showed his lack of intelligence on the ball. He was a good signing and definitely gives us something that we've needed but he certainly can't be described as a consistent player yet.

    I really do expect both centre halves to go and 2 to come in. This was in Andy Hunters Guardian article on Saurez today: The uncertainty over Suárez's future presents a major problem for Rodgers, although Liverpool have yet to receive an official approach for the striker or transfer request from the 26-year-old. It is also Andy Carroll's reluctance to accept a £15m move to West Ham United that is impacting on Liverpool's immediate transfer plans, such as formalising their interest in Shakhtar Donetsk's £22m-rated midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Probably is just speculation but would love to think we could sign Mkhitaryan and keep Suarez. Those 2, Aspas, Coutinho, Sturridge and Sterling would give us great strength in the forward positions. Unfortunately I do think Suarez will go so the whole landscape will probably change dramatically. Its a long way to September 1st so I'm sure we will end up surprised by some signing or departure too.

    If Saurez stays do people reckon we have much more money to spend? It looks like Aspas, Luis Alberto and a centre half will be coming in with Skrtel, Coates and Carroll on the way. How many more could you see us bringing in after that? I would love us to go for Mkhitaryan but it seems unlikely if we are getting Luis Alberto for a midfield where we already have Allen and Henderson likely to be on the bench. After that I imagine we might get rid of Shelvey and/or Downing and bring in another mid price wide/forward player. Am I underestimating how much we have to spend or will this be it unless Saurez goes? Illori Centre half (Papadopolous) Toure Luis Alberto Aspas Winger/Forward (Erikssen or someone else around 10-15 mil mark)

    Watching the Carra documentary on LFCTV. Footage of him following the ref down the tunnel shouting 'Felliani's fucking elbows' during a derby, love it. Cool to see so many people from inside and outside the club talking so highly about Jamie. Drogba comes across as a really good guy which is a little bit disconcerting. Really going to miss Jamie next year.

    What do people reckon is the chances of the Tom ince deal being resurrected? I'm asking because I was looking at a few of the 'next club bets' on paddypower and notice we are 3/1 to sign him behind spurs who are around even money.

    I think its a calculated risk worth taking. We should still beat Young Boys and if not we bring on Saurez, Gerrard and Sterling from the bench. If we can win without them all well and good, we send the kids over to Udinese and worry about the Europa League again in the new year when we've got a few new faces in. If we can squeeze through tonight with any kind of performance while maximising our chances of 3 points against Swansea on Sunday then that's good management on BR's part.

    Actually I quite like that, don't fancy Chelsea much at all and Shaktar are decent. As its a free bet I might be greedy and go for 1-1 at 11/2.

    Guardiola. Although I accept he was managing probably the greatest group on individuals ever I give to him for the following reasons: He won a shit loads of trophies in a short space of time. He devised a new tactical system which allowed Messi to flourish. He transformed a culture of underachievement and got rid of the players who had over-sized ego's. Tactical knowledge seemed top class. Went toe to toe with Mourinho in the media while almost always maintaining his dignity. Oversaw the most exciting, highest goal-scoring and trophy winning season ever played by a club team. Came across as a real leader for the whole club/city and not merely the 'coach' of the team.

    Have 50 quid free bet to use on one of tomorrow's Champions League games. Nothing really sticking out as great value looking at the fixtures. Will probably stick it on Van Persie to score first at 9-2 (assuming he starts) unless anyone has any better suggestions?

    Nah was only one game for some reason. With Sahin and Assaidi cup tied and Lucas out it looks like we will have to play at least one midfielder and wide player who is likely to start against Arsenal. Reina Kelly Carra Coates Enrique Henderson Adam Downing Shelvey Borini Carroll Not sure if Kelly had picked up a knock against City when he came off so Flanagan might come in there. And if Adam or Carroll are being touted around they might not play, so either a couple of kids get a game or else a few from the first 11 on Sunday play another game.

    Gary Jacob from the times said on Sturridge 'Cfc think lfc will make loan move but they will resist'. He does have some qualities we are lacking but definitely not someone I would feel enthusiastic about.

    Thanks xerxes, was looking forward to logging on and reading a post like that. Seems like the season has come on us quite quickly and I'm not exactly sure what to think. A win tomorrow would really get my excitement levels up. I think we'll do it, 1-0 - Saurez. And I think we'll get 4th.
