  1. Just logged in and this massive guff cloud of a thread was the first thing I read. Either this is a WUM who's bided his time or Steven Taylor?
  2. And therein lies the problem. The Council in furtherance of their own agenda will not budge on an Anfield re-development. Henry has gone on record to say it makes no sense to pay 300 hundred million pound for an extra 15,000 seats, which is what a new stadium with a 60,000 capacity would cost. Who really wants to move from Anfield anyway? The main stand has needed those wooden seats and bollards ripping out for years. Knock it down and build a three tier stand. Problem solved. Only it isnt that simple is it? Anywhere else in the country you can guarantee that this would be backed, but not by this council. All's they need do is place compulsory purchase orders on the houses surrounding anfield. The club buy them off the council and re-house the residents in (let's be honest better houses anyway). If they dont want to move then fine but on what basis can they object to a re-development? Unless you lived in Anfield before 1892 then you cant say you moved there without knowing you might be inconvenienced once every two weeks by a crowd of people. I just wonder how long it will be before something is leaked to the supporters about the club's re-development issues so our voices can be heard.
  3. Personally I love the way Kenny refers to him as "Fergie" which you just know really grates on the twat. None of this Sir Alex bullshit he's become accustomed to. When Fergie was playing and then later became a manager, Kenny was held in such higher esteem than he could ever have dreamed of. Regardless of his own achievements that envy he holds towards Kenny will always be there. Kenny is a timely reminder to "Fergie" of the young pretender to the King's throne he once was.
  4. Staying at Anfield. Going to sell the naming rights and develop the main stand in 2 years to create an extra 15,000 seats. You heard it here first.
  5. He can't play with a strike partner. He needs to be the focal point of his teams attack, he cant foil or create space for others. In that way he was made for us during the period he played, similarly he was a perfect fit for Atletico. As for Chelsea, unless they play him up top alone he will continue to do a damn good job of blunting their attack.
  6. Its at hampden so there was no travel for him. Reports up to now say he's "doubtful". Reckon he'll be good for Stoke away.
  7. I believe these cretins suffer from a mental disorder otherwise known as "thickasfuckism". The only remedy for thickasfuckism is a swift roundhouse to the jaw of said cretin. But seriously, to pass off such any ideology under the banner of LFC is in itself an insult to the sound moral fibre upon which this proud club was built. People have freedom of thought and speech which often gives rise to abhorrent or immoral opinion, but to associate such with our club makes the act twice as ignorant.
  8. I agree with Hermes - its happened one too many times with Gerrard now to take this on face value. That said, a Steven Gerrard at 80 per cent of what he was is still a very very good player. Has alreayd alluded to I dont like the predictions every year either. Its been a custom for too long now (starting under Houllier) that every per season the squad would set targets. We are Liverpool FC and we exist to win trophies end of. Take a leaf out of Kenny's book and see where we are at the end of the season. Talk is cheap.
  9. For the club to release this statement on mereiles can only mean he's gone to chelsea. If he doesn't he's fucked himself over and I really can't see the club hanging him out to dry like that. £12 mil is another decent piece of business in my book.
  10. Thats fair enough and I see why it could have been perceived as a dig at Rafa. I really have no wish to open up that can of worms again. By the way your negs are a bit like being butt fucked up the arse by an elephant.
  11. I agree thats why his influence on tactics will not be as great as it was. As for being our best player we will have to see suppose. This is a big season for him, he has nothing to prove dont get me wrong, but he needs to reproduce what we know he can do for a sustained period. I said he was proven world class in my OP and will always advocate him as possibly the best to pull on the red shirt. Sorry if I caused offence but I just wondered where he would come back into the side and have my doubts on his ability to play the holding role like he did when he was younger. He's much more useful in the final third and I think he belives that also.
  12. RVP and Wilshere would both get into any side in the league. Gervinho could yet prove himself to be the buy of the summer and Walcott for his place alone is worth his place in any squad.
  13. Can't write anyone off after 3 games and when the transfer window is still open as well. Form is only temporary, class is permanent and they have some excellent attacking players who would walk into any premier league side.
  14. I see Woy had a few harsh words for Ben Foster after their loss yesterday "he could have been braver and taken a stud in the chest". He seems to have this brilliant nack of blaming individuals when things go wrong. Remember him attacking Johnson calling his international quality into question as well. Its always someone elses fault but his own. Thank fuck he's no longer here.
  15. No - Wilshere and Gervinho to come back in will improve them tremendously. They are still challengers for the top 4. Long term however I think their philosophy is all wrong and so cannot see them winning anything for a long time.
  16. At no point did I mention his age as a factor. When was the last time he played as a holding midfielder consistently? His attacking ability (which as I pointed out is world class) has meant he hasnt had to do the dirty work if you like that the likes of Lucas has to do. And as for his tackling it isn't what it used to be, the penalty he gave away against villa when we lost 3-1 was fucking awful scything down Reo-Coker. He is prone to rashness in the way Paul Scholes was for the septics. He does take all the corners when fit. I think Adam is better. As for playing off Torres anyone who went to anfield in the early part of 06/07 would have seen how unimpressed he was being stuck out on the right. Rafa had little choice but to bring him inside to appease him. Gerrard won't walkback into this team as a "number 10" because, as another poster said, we have so many more options now. I see him on the right as the best in that position in the country. Oh and thanks for the neg just for asking where the skipper will come back in
  17. Club have said from the start he'll be back mid-september. If he isnt back for stoke, then he will be at spurs. Seems everyone has gerrard starting when fit but how does he get in if the team today keeps doing the damage? Its not just the balance of team either, i'm not sure how gerrard being benched will effect the dynamics of the dressing room.
  18. Looks like he's due back for the next game at Stoke and whilst we're all trying not to get carried away after the start we've made you could be forgiven for almost forgetting we have a proven world class player to come back in. But just where does he fit in now? This is no longer a team which is totally dependant on his goals like years gone by and with Kenny in charge i'm sure his influence on the tactics will be non-existent. He no longer has the positional sense or tackling ability required to sit in front of the back four and I don't think he can play off a lone striker as he did with Torres as a Carroll/Suarez partnership is the long term plan. That leaves right midfield which I think is his best position, he crosses better than anyone in the league and had arguably his best season at the club in that position in 05/06. The impact of Gerrard's return on our season is huge. When he does come back will he still be taking all the free kicks, penalties and corners? How will he react to no longer having the carte blanche free roll position he managed to fashion for himself under Rafa? It will drive us onto even better things or it could be counter-productive to all that is good about the current set-up.
  19. We've been good in fits and starts looking more dangerous on the counter attack than anything else. Plenty of effort and pressing of the ball which is pleasing to see. We still need an arl arse in the middle tho who will just hold the ball and let us play with some control.
  20. I think its important that any song we sing for either player makes no reference to torres. Its not fair on them, they're their own man and it will be outdated anyway in a year or two when we all look back and think "thank fuck we sold him and bought these two when we did". Favourite so far is blaydon races for andy carroll...whoever made that up is a lyrical genius, class.
  21. That's fair cop I was just curious as to why you'd call someone as harsh as classless. He was a desperate man clinging to any excuse he could in the end. Stress and pressure does that to people I suppose.
  22. I've had it on good authority that Broughton was an agent for Abramovich on the KGB payroll. His mission was to obtain the contract of Fernando Torres and redraft it with a release clause in. Ousting Tom and George was just a cover story. As for the knighthood...well the brown paper envelope he handed to HM the Queen when bowing was a giveaway. Those who get caught always fall asleep in the getaway car and Broughton is just another example of that.
