  1. Robin van Persie has been moved to rebut suggestions that he celebrated one of his three goals in Arsenal's 5-3 defeat of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday with a Nazi salute. The Dutchman used his Twitter account to answer claims made on the internet that he performed the salute in front of the Arsenal fans after scoring his second goal. Van Persie, who touched his right shoulder then his left shoulder with his right hand before raising it in the air, said it was nothing more than an expression of his joy at scoring such an important goal. He tweeted: "It has been brought to my attention of some ridiculous allegations concerning my celebration of one of my goals yesterday. "It is totally ludicrous to suggest that my action of brushing my shoulder and pointing to my fans could be construed as anything else but of a showing of joy and celebration. "To suggest this meant anything to the contrary is insulting and absolutely absurd as nothing else came into my mind." Robin van Persie denies celebrating Arsenal goal with a Nazi salute | Football | guardian.co.uk How long before a member of the public makes a complaint about this? There is something inherently wrong in allowing a person to make an accusation, smear the reputation of somebody else in the process, then get away with it scot free. Surely its time to punish the accuser if that accusation transpires to be false.
  2. So if the current trend continues we will finish 5th. 7 pts off spurs and 3 off chelsea. Interesting..... As someone already pointed out our final third of fixtures couldnt be better. We need to finish strong and I think we will. On the flip side the so called lesser sides around that stage are fighting for their lives so not a foregone conclusion.
  3. I'm sure I read that he completed more crosses than anybody in the league last season. Strange as I cant remember a single cross he might have put in for Carroll last night. He does have pace, which is a major attribute and of course the left foot guarantees balance. So far he looks no better than Riera.
  4. In the equivalent 5 away fixtures last season we took a grand total of 1 point. This year we have taken 9. That represents an improvement under Kenny of 900% on Roy. Plenty to be positive about.
  5. The Happy Al's charabanc can be a cruel mistress and I should know. I learnt the hard way in a 32 hour round trip from Priory Road to Dortmund in 2001. Man I seen a lot of bad things out there, yet here I am still able to tell the tale. Hope the brave fella who chanced it down to stoke got on ok.
  6. Woy hasnt changed one fucking bit has he the miserable arl bastard. this from the bbc website "Throughout the first period Hodgson grew ever more angry, at one point throwing his coat off in disgust" Sure he was still throwing the odd face rub in the mixer as well.
  7. Amazed to see what Paul Merson had to say then on Soccer Saturday on this issue. 1. What will happen to evra "the accuser" if Suarez found not guilty; 2. Why didnt Evra mention it to the referee during the game when he called them over....which makes the whole thing dodgy. The guy almost passed for someone with a modicum of intelligence.
  8. Rooney is overhyped by the very fact he is english. "The white pele" some say or " a player who can do things no other english player can". And for that reason we are led to believe he is something he isnt. A player who can drop off the front or have a dribble (even though I think the mancs have knocked this out of him) means he's different so must therefore be great. In any latin country he'd be one of many good players. I've no doubt Luis has the better feet although he needs to be more clinical. As far as finishing goes I think RVP is above them both but if I could choose any striker in the league I'd go for Suarez everytime, his all round play is tremendous and he's been man of the match in just about every game i've watched us play this year (bar spurs away), only Silva is performing on a higher level in england now.
  9. Whenever i've gone with Barnes they've always said no ale and had signs up on the coach but never had a problem. Just dont make it obvious by walking on with a crate and make some attempt to be discreet and you'll be fine. Its only an hour to stoke on a good run, but suppose Barnes will probably stop off twice on that distance for a piss stop so might get some more drinking time in.
  10. Should be an e-petition all of its own for bringing back the death penalty just for this spineless twat.
  11. Unfortunately I dont think this is possible. To make a claim you would neet to show that the offending comment was attributable to you and that you were identified in the rag story. Then there's the problem of limitation - you have 3 years to bring a claim or 3 years from the date of knowledge. Could be an argument to say date of knowledge would be from News Int revealing sources and untruths told but even then people will struggle to show they sustained damage as a result. Its different to the phone tapping or other libel cases were the victim is clearly identifiable. My dad and uncle were in Sheffield that day. Mackenzie said they stole from and urinated on the corpses of their fellow reds. There are no words to describe the pure anger I feel, like many others, towards this vile disgusting man. I can see why you would suggest people might bring a claim, which would hit them in the only way they understand - in the pocket. But for most its just about righting the wrongs, dispelling the untruths and setting things straight so the real heroes on that day, the liverpool supporters who were the only ones who tried to save lives with the little knowledge they had are not portrayed in the light Mackenzie decided for them. An apology would be a start. Time to expose the LYING BASTARDS they cant hide forever.
  12. Special mention for Maria Eagle MP for Garston as well who made some very valid points and pushing for disclosure of sources of reports by News International. This disclosure should not be confined to governments, police and other official documents. There are other lying bastards out there who need to be ousted. Steve Rotherham was excellent. Pitched perfectly and covered every detail without getting too emotional. He is a credit to the city of liverpool. Had me choked.
  13. The italians certainly know how to celebrate a goal.
  14. First look i've had at Newcastle this season and must say was rather impressed. Move the ball very well and with high tempo. Collocini at the back is a different player to when he arrived, solid and can play a bit as well. Won't be an easy place to go this year as it has been in recent times.
  15. Inept twats. No idea on how to manage crowds at all. Remember seeing some serious shit go down in that same section when we won 3-2 a few years back when Kuyt scored in the last. There was 2 liverpool fans on the front row who I could see had jumped up when Torres scored to make it 2-1 down. They started getting some shit but then these stewards turned up and marched them all the way up the steps back into the city fans baying for blood behind them. They must have got hammered by about 20 city fans on the aisle. Common sense would have been to march them out a side exit or along the front as they were on the front row to avoid the absolute leathering they must have taken going back up the steps to an exit behind them. Its just fucking basics but as they say common sense - its the least common of all senses, especially at eastlands.
  16. Throw into the pot Fergie's post-match statement that "Suarez dives all over the place" then I think its pretty obvious theres an agenda here.
  17. I'm stunned at the sheer magnitude of the accusation. He's racially abused him on no fewer than 10 occasions, in the biggest club fixture in world football, in front of millions of people. Fans world over are'nt talking about the game, they're asking if Suarez is a racist or not. Its an attack on Luis' character, a reputation he needs and values so highly. His advisers will surely take action on this slur if Evra is lying. Its unprecedented. Dont think it can be compared with a scuffle with a groundsman or an incident which happened in a minor fixture. The consequences for Luis are great.
  18. He accused the Chelsea groundsman of being a racist in 2008 when he ran half the length of the pitch to throw punches at him. Now he's saying Suarez called him "the N word". This is a severe accusation to make. Should add that its defamatory to Suarez being called a racist, surely he should be able to make a claim against Evra if its unfounded. Just because your a footy player it doesnt mean you can go round slandering people. I'd be all over this as the clubs lawyers. Teach the cunt a lesson if he is lying.
  19. A positive cameo performance today. Seen enough to know he will get better and be a feature of Liverpool teams for the next decade. The lad's talented across all attributes.
  20. I've been to Goodison and watched us in our end as well as sitting amongst the bitters. I can honestly say they are out there on their own as the worst, most volatile and baying crowd i've seen. The Gladys has got a bad reputation for throwing stuff but its all round the ground now. The Park end which is immediately to your left in the away end is now full of pricks imititating pushing and making cut throat gestures. And its getting worse. Relations are worse than they have ever been and I don't believe its through any fault of our own. The bitterness really has consumed them so much so they cant rationalise the crude and downright sick things they do. Its just par for the course now and its a fucking shame.
  21. He couldnt deal with the how you shay masshive underdogs tag, masshive.
  22. Good to see Amoo on the scoresheet for Bury as well today. Shelvey will walk that league by the looks of things.
