  1. I got the impression that Skrtel was supposed to be marking Davies & he just drifted off him towards Johnson. Agree with others earlier about Dirk. Never nippy to start with but he looks shattered & like he is running in treacle. I would have Maxi, Babel or Johnson on the right before him at present.
  2. I think that any bias to the bigger clubs is more to do with the referees wanting to be given the bigger games & keeping the powerful clubs onside, along with the sheer volume of the fans at bigger grounds putting more pressure on them I would not be surprised to see a refereeing scandal in this country but would expect it to be to do with bookies rather than the clubs.
  3. I agree with that RF . With Everton & Villa imploding I can see us being ' Best Of The Rest' in 6th. On the defence thing, I am hoping Agger's return & a more attacking mindset to our games might negate the problems a bit until summer.
  4. Excellent summary ( Carra being 'past it' would be the only thing I would question )
  5. What an absolute buffoon that bloke is. He is useless on SSN reviewing the morning papers as he seems incapable of finding the pieces he had intended to discuss & most of his spot seems to be him getting more & more exasperated & throwing newspapers over his shoulders, while the presenters make rude gestures about him. I probably even prefer the smug bastard from the Express who can't go 2 sentences without mentioning that he is a class 3 referee.
  6. Don't really study the forums in as much depth required to complete all of the questions in the survey , but a couple of posters haven't been mentioned yet & I feel they deserve some kudos. RoboRiise & LFD always offer excellent & amusing comments. I am also a big boxing fan & Liam & Paddy Berger rule on those threads on the GF
  7. Can't bring myself to want us not to get a result. At the end of the day I have been a fan for 40 odd years and not going to start wanting us to lose games. Delighted we won & hope that if FSV are as on the ball as we are led to believe, they won't be swayed by an odd goal here & there but an overview of the whole position.
  8. Surely the bonus is that WBA went pointless
  9. I can't see any possible way he will turn this around, so there is no point in wasting a single minute in axing him. I think Fulham might get walloped by Spurs & the prospect of a return to Fulham might move things onwards. p.s. leave the 'Hodgson 3' alone - it's a free poll so they can vote how they like.
  10. From all the photos I've seen we seem to spend 80% of training falling off spacehoppers
  11. He's probably gone back to France thinking there's no way he'll ever dislodge Dirk from the left-mids slot. The headline writers from the papers will probably stump up half the money for us anyway. Marveaux-less.
  12. Anybody with a fiver on Claire Rayner scoops the pot it would seem.
  13. The pub opposite where I used to work had a 'Dead Pool' thing on the wall & the regulars chipped in so much every week leading to quite a decent payout when it was won. Was in there one day & a guy shouted in delight & did that Courtney Walsh thing with his arms spread & ran right through the pub to the beer garden. Turned out that Sky News had announced Bob Monkhouse had popped his clogs & the guy had scooped £600 or so.
  14. Well it seemed like a natural progression after getting bummed in every away game.
  15. At last a bit of pace in the side. Oh you mean the fat plonky at City - err no thanks.
  16. Agree with this & would add that the lack of pace in our team also means that our 'clever' players end up completely surrounded by the opposition by the time they get the ball.
  17. Wolves have got the worst away record in the country ( w0 d1 l7 ) & are coming off a shattering home loss on Saturday , while we have been rested & have a practically full squad to pick from. There is absolutely no excuse for not netting 3 points here. Don't need a defensive mids , forget about Wolves side & tactics , just accept they are crap & go 442 ( Gerrard & Meireles in the middle ) and wallop them.
  18. Agree with that Stevie & also think it can be incorporated into our outlook when without the ball which reached its nadir for me at the recent Utrecht home game where we sat in our own half watching their centre halves play keep ball for 5 minutes. Barca are the best footballing side in the world but they don't eschew hard work when the opposition has the ball. Can't remember the last time we put a full 90 minute performance.
  19. I think 2 would be in order then. Watched til lunch & then managed to see the highlights at 10am without having any idea of what had transpired. Delighted that Perth seems to have been a blip , but desperately hoping that we don't let ourselves get too smug & make sure we play every session with the required intensity ( particularly as I seem to remember there are supposed to be weather issues)
  20. I think the entertainment that Holloway provides has kept the spotlight off the carryings-on from their idiot chairman Karl Oyston. While nobody would champion chairmen wasting money , he has caused ructions over every penny & tried to even renege on agreements with his players, and seems to be happy for their better players to leave in January.
  21. The other day the Daily Mirror outlined the most likely 20 players to be on the move within or towards the Prem & who were in the mix for them. We were named in despatches on 14 of them, so I'm suspecting that nobody outside the club has a clue about who our targets are.
  22. Talking about record low temperatures for the North-West over the next 2 nights on the local weather report, so I'd be amazed if it goes ahead. Fulham game re-scheduled for Jan 26th by the way.
