Only away game I've been to was Elland Road. Probably 7 years ago 3 all draw - Kewell looked superb for them! anyway I was in a home stand, couldn't control myself celebrating each time we scored and it was amazing just how many reds were dotted about. I never saw any trouble at all.

Just confirms what we all thought really.

kinell. I was trying to watch it at work on the quiet. The gasp and nearly throwing up in the bin probably gave me away! Seeing something like that makes you panic when we play the scum with Scholes within 10 yards of Gerrard or Torres. Poor lad I hope he can recover but you really wonder how.

than losing Ronaldo, says Baconface. Losing referees Mike Riley and Rob Styles is worse than losing Ronaldo, says Sir Alex Ferguson | newsarse.com Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that recently retired referees Mike Riley and Rob Styles are a bigger loss to his team than departed Cristiano Ronaldo. United stuttered through an unconvincing 1-0 opening day victory against Premier League new-boys Birmingham City, and Ferguson’s men were clearly missing the threat normally posed by compliant match officials. Despite a win secured by a Wayne Rooney goal, Ferguson was less than pleased with how his team had coped with the new refereeing roster. “A win is a win, but the nature of the victory was more than a little concerning,” said Ferguson in the post-match press conference. “People will point to the 20-odd goals you could expect from Cristiano, but nobody ever mentions the sterling work done by Riley and Styles in creating those goals.” “Those guys were real team players, the unsung heroes of much of our success.” “They would contribute all over the pitch, not just with favourable penalty decisions in both areas, but with 50/50 challenges all over the pitch,” “There is also the awarding of free-kicks in shooting range and the numerous goal line clearances.” “But most of all, I think we’ll miss their uncanny ability to make the game seem longer than it’s meant to be when we really, really needed it.” Referees A Premier League official has reacted to Sir Alex’s claims by leaping to the defence of the new referees. “They’re just learning the ropes, and obviously don’t yet know the Premier League hierarchy that’s currently in place.” “But we’ve invested heavily in their development and they’ll be up to speed soon enough, it’s just a matter of gaining the right experience.” “And nothing gives you that experience like being subjected to a 96th minute spittle-infused rant from Sir Alex.” “After that, I am sure they will be significantly more compliant.”

And one great defensive clearance.

"it may have to be violent," I agree with most of what you say, but definately not that.

96 - it's a number I have been aware of for 20 years, and I hadn't quite realised how large a number it actually is until you see the faces and look in to the eyes of all those faces on FOREVER YOUNG: 96 REDS REMEMBERED. I have read and heard the names countless times, at the memorial, in the museum and in the papers and it has upset me but not really affected me but just seeing 96 faces that never came home made me cry. I have two children who go the game and the very thought of one of them, let alone both of them not coming home is too horrible to bare. The fact that the families have not seen justice in 20 years just continues to rub salt in to a very open wound. YNWA - you are in my thoughts and prayers JFT 96.
