  1. We didnt need to take that risk. We are still in a position to attract some of the best managers in the world.

Barca could have got anyone they´d have wanted, but still they chose that lame duck looking guy to be Guardiolas successor. Can´t even remember his name. Why ?

  2. Rafas Valencia didn't play like that week in week out though just like we beat united 4-1 we didn't play like that every week nor beating Aston villa 5 nil a sign of how we played overall. I don't agree with the lads post Rafa knew how to attack but I'd say his overall tactic was caution. We played chess against the poorer teams when we should of steam rolled them a lot of times. I think Rafa is guilty of over thinking things. He's an excellent manager though and fsg should be interviewing him as a candidate alongside anybody else and form their own opinions.

I think why Kenny thought he could be the right man for the job was just this. He had seen how even top managers like Benitez were too happy to walk away with a draw, when they could have gone for a win, by just letting the players to express themselves against the lesser teams. Like in the good old times. Unfortunately it didn´t work out for Kenny, although it wasn´t that far to be honest. But I still think that I don´t want to see a manager like Benitez at the helm, just because of his cautioness. He probably recognized this flaw in his thinking himself, and was thinking of something different with the signings like Aquilani and Dossena, but if we look at his signings overall, I´m not too confident that they will ever work. His time is gone. GONE.

  3. Boring boring Benitez. Almost as boring as Hodgson.

His intention was to get the team playing more attacking type of football on his last year, but that´s when the wheels started to come off from his wagon. Attacking football is an unknown territory for him, that´s why he failed. Nothing to do with cancer and aids. I repeat, nothing.

Hopefully he is not coming back, although I could accept him as Sporting Director or sorts, taking care of all the age groups etc. He could be good in that role, at least in theory.

  4. Say you owned a formula 1 team and employed someone to run it. Your chassis is class it just needs an engine and a driver. The guy you employ gets a rubbish engine and a driver who wrecks car after car. However the fans love him, they are not so keen on the engine though. What do you do? Do you...

    A. Get rid of the guy you employed or

    B. Give him more money to rectify their mistakes, unsure if he will do the same thing all over again?

Since the former is far cheaper than the later than they will go for the former and get someone else in plus someone over hime with some clout (a DoF) since the owner knows jack about football!

But what if that driver was actually Mika Hakkinen ?

  5. if I may;

    1) players are dropped when they get a bit of form.

    2) subs are usually introduced too late to make a difference

    3) certain players are continually played regardless of poor form

    4) we have no 'plan b'

Rafa was like that also, in my opinion.

  6. Spending the 50m on a replacement striker seemed like a must at the time i agree but 3 things

    1) Why Carroll? - i did not rate him at NUFC and still do not now if I am honest

    2) Why overpay by so much?

    3) Carroll hardly contributed to our improvement from Jan onwards apart from the MCFC at home game as he was injured for most of the time.

    1) Carroll is the new Shearer. Or was at some point, at least. Best header of the ball, ever. With the right coaching he was supposed to become a real monster of a player.

    2) How much Shearer would cost now, if he was 20 and you´d know what he would become ?

    3) Was bought for five years.
