My wife (a social worker) believes that the best solution is to put a contraceptive in the water supply and only provide the antidote to those who can demonstrate parenting ability and a loving, stable environment in which to raise the kids. If you look at the list of the biggest donors to both parties, it's largely the same companies/indviduals: even if they favour one side over the other, they still want to ensure trough-space once the ballots are counted. Anyone who thinks the Democrats are going to herald a brave new dawn (beyond hopefully being less extreme and clueless than the incumbents) is in for a bit of a shock when Obama has to pay the fiddlers.
