  1. If Kenny stays, he'll stay. I reckon the level of respect is such that he'll give the King at least a full season to work his magic. I also don't see too many realistic destinations for him. He won't join Real or another English club, Barca would struggle to accomodate him alongside Villa and it's doubtful Italy or Germany would hold much appeal for him at this stage in his career.
  2. It's been a combination of bad luck and lack of confidence but we've warranted more based on the overall performances. Other than the Arsenal home and Spurs away games, that couldn't be said about any of Hodgson's dropped points.
  3. I'm not worried. Last night was an ususually shit teamsheet born of injuries, a suspension and playing 60 minutes with 10 men on Sunday. The tactics and effort levels have already improved significantly and most of our line ups should be good enough to translate this into wins.
  4. The attitude and approach was better but tonight underlined the shocking lack of technical ability in our squad. Paulson was anonymous, Jovonovich did his usual headless chicken act and Kuyt can never be relied upon as a creative force. Swap those three for Maxi, Cole and Gerrard and you've got a pretty strong attacking line up but the alternative is Championship quality. I thought Torres was excellent tonight with very little support and Lucas also did well.
  5. Linda_Pizzuti Webb is, how do you say politely... a challenge to agree with, even by referee standards. about 5 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® :inlove:
  6. I give it two weeks before he's on Sky slagging us off. £7.5m for 6 months of shit work that he blamed on everyone but himself. Fuck off, Roy.
  7. She wasn't rich. I believe her dad is an IT technician and her mom works in a supermarket.
  8. I don't buy this line of thinking at all. There's no reason why a billionare hedge fund trader would need any football specific knowledge to work out that Roy (or indeed Purslow) is fucking useless. Success and failure are universal languages in business. The most plausible argument is that they're terrified of the political power Dalgish would wield in the job and think the only solution is to cling desperately to Roy until their fresh/young target is available. I think that's the wrong approach for a number of reasons (the very real threat of relegation being number one) but it makes alot more sense than believing sacks of football excrement like Barclay and Samuel are a factor in their decision making. If the latter is true, we are well and truly fucked.
  9. His "nice guy" image is a joke. He's a selfish, arrogant egoist who never takes responsibility for his own failings and has no qualms taking the piss with those who pay his wages. Massive cunt of a man.
  10. Because his presence is enraging and dividing the fans, demoralising the players and inspiring our opponents?
  11. What? The closest we ever got to winning the CL under Houllier was the quarters in 2002 and that was with a world class striker who buggered off when Rafa arrived. Houllier left a meagre four players (Hyypia, Hamann, Carra & Gerrard) who could unquestionably be labelled Champions League class.
  12. Poised to inflict a humillating scoreline? Check Opportunity to effectively end our season in January? Check Famously patient Liverpool fans driven to Newcastle-like behaviour? Check. Close friend and surrender monkey managing us? Check. Almost certain to beat us to no 19? Check. Baconface has been waiting his entire adult life for this moment. I've only been mildly irritated with FSV's dithering thus far. However, if they allow this twat to lead us to the slaughter on Sunday, they fuck right off back to Boston.
  13. That argument is obsolete after last night. They won't attract Fat Sam in the Championship nevermind a manager for the decade.
  14. "So close to a comeback for the ages! It would have been utopian to expect anything more, though".
  15. Up In The Air- Thought this was superb. Touches on a bunch of 21st century themes in a subtle, non-American way with sharp dialogue and excellent performances from the three leads. 9.5/10 Unstoppable- Fun to watch and unlike most action adventure flicks, nothing about the plot or stunt work is wildly implausible. 8/10 The Social Network- Well made and absorbing. Pretty much devoid of any feeling or rootability though. 8/10. Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps- Facile and tedious reflection on the financial crisis. Michael Douglas's charisma is the only saving grace and he appears in less than a quarter of the film. 5/10 Forgetting Sarah Marshall- Not quite as funny as the concept/trailer suggested but still enjoyable. Mila Kunis in a bikini is worth several points on its own. 7.5/10
  16. Terrible analogy. Players will tend to favour appointing managers they like and feel most comfortable with (i.e. cuddly father figures like Curbishley and Hodgson). They'll tend to perform best for managers they respect. The first opinion should be irrelevant whereas the the second is of critical importance.
  17. Same reason as the Blackburn game I imagine. Roy had to win so allowed reversion to something resembling Rafa's system (ignoring the extra striker). When the pressure subsides, he'll get back to implementing his own "philosophy". *shudders*
