I was posting on RAWK up until a couple of months ago and after the Palace loss in the Carling Cup,I am ashamed to admit that I was on the boards ranting that this was the worst Liverpool team I had ever seen with just 2 wins in 8 games and only 5 goals scored (although in my defence at the time statistically it was our worst start in about 40 years so maybe I was technically right) but the progress since then has been remarkable really considering the obvious flaws in the team i.e. no right winger,no adequate cover for centre half and IMO sub par strikers.I really think if we have the summer in the transfer window that we all expected last year,then next season really could bring home number 19.We really do have the best manager in the world.

How can you say todays footballers are better on the ball than players from 20 years ago.Take Liverpool for example,we had players like Hansen,Whelan,Souness,Dalglish,Molby,Lawrenson ,Barnes and numerous others.Do you honestly think players of that calibre wouldn`t cut it against todays lot.Taking things a step further,who were the world stars from around the mid eighties?Maradona,Platini,Zico,Socrates,Rummenigger,Rushy,Brietner,Tigana,Van Basten,Gullit,Koeman,Butregueno! and all the others that I can`t recall right now.I think that little group might just have been able to hold their own in the present day.Don`t you?And as a final aside,try comparing the current Scotland squad to the one in the 70s and 80s,it isn`t even a contest.

4 strikers is more than enough,we`ve managed with 4 this season we just need to improve the quality.Which IMO means replacing Cisse and Nando.I think we need an out and out goalscorer to rotate with Fowler(i.e Defoe)and a more complete player as an alternative to Crouch(i.e.Kuyt)and that`s without the option of Garcia as the 2nd striker which we know Rafa likes. OUT Cisse Morientes Pongolle Mellor Le Tallec IN Defoe (e.g.) Kuyt (e.g.) Getting rid of those 5 should bring in about £10/12m plus the savings in wages which must be nearly £100 grand a week just with Djib and Nando.So in summary we`d have 4 good strikers and 1 good option with Garcia whilst trimming the squad of the deadwood so it shouldn`t really eat too much into the budget.

You`re the one who mentioned 5 years down the track and people only thinking of the short term.Next season is the short term and that should be the priority.I would be as excited as anyone if we get this kid as long as we can afford it but there`s no indication we`re even interested.I`ll worry about 5 years down the line in 5 years.

Two class strikers definately,Moro and cisse to go,Fowler is only back up due to lack of fitness and stamina and Crouch isn`t clinical/fast/aggressive enough to lead the line on his own all season.We still need a right mid though,at least as cover for Gerrard.
