  1. People have been dodging drafts since time began. This war isn't any different.
  2. Why does Dion Dublin keep calling Grealish 'Jack'? ...aside from him being a helmet.
  3. To help find hostages apparently. https://www.timesofisrael.com/us-special-forces-said-deployed-to-help-israel-track-down-hostages-held-in-gaza/
  4. Take the sicknote and the talking therapy. If you were physically ill, you'd take medicine; the sicknote and the therapy are medicine for the mind. Classic symptom of stress. We feel like we have the world on our shoulders. Again, if you had a dose of flu then you'd take time off. Consider this a case of flu of the mind and do the same. You have a wife, kids, a job, and a house. People who don't have a wife or kids or a job or a house would consider you succeeding in life. 'Failing at life' happens because we compare our lives to other people, and we invariably look at people who have 'more' than us. We compare up not down. I daresay you don't consider yourself failing at life when you compare yourself to homeless people begging for food and living on winter streets. But the real issue is that we should judge ourselves at life at all. There is no succeeding or failing. Life is not a competition. Life is the very short amount of time we get to spend on this earth with friends and family and nothing more. If there is a concept of success, then it's finishing each day alive surrounded by those we love.
  5. The problem is that they can act with impunity. Nobody is going to do anything unless the US does it first, and the US won't do anything. At least not long term. So the Israeli's frankly don't give a fuck what the rest of the world thinks.
  6. I wouldn't put it past them to have done it, cause I would have in their place, however there is no actual evidence in any of those articles and the man himself says he wasn't involved.
  7. One side will run out of men or material and will be forced to the negotiating table. Those figures are deaths confirmed by socal media only, and "exclude casualties sustained by units of the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR republics", which are a lot. The website also states: That's an estimate of almost 50K KIA. Given that far more soldiers are wounded than actually killed, then the Russians have indeed lost an enormous amount of men, and continue to do so. To put it in perspective, they have most likely lost a force greater than twice the size of the British Army, and are struggling to replace tanks and aircraft.
  8. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=Protocol+I+of+the+Geneva+Convention As of February 2020, it had been ratified by 174 states,[6] with the United States, Israel, Iran, Pakistan, India, and Turkey being notable exceptions.
  9. It was handball. But fuck we weren't great, learn from it and move on.
  10. The keeper didnt do well, but Trent shouldn't be allowing the ball across the box.
  11. McManaman's commentary on us is as if he's got Stockholm Syndrome.
  12. What the static front line doesn't show is the enormous amount of material (and lives) the Russians have lost. The Russians are now refusing to publish production quotas and are trying to buy back equipment it has sold to it's allies. https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2023/11/8/russia-turns-to-buybacks-to-resupply-forces-deployed-in-ukraine-wsj Bottom Line is that Russia won't have an army if this continues for a few more years. Or much of an economy for that matter.
  13. How do you know? A lot more seem to disagree with him. https://news.gallup.com/poll/512258/ukrainians-stand-behind-war-effort-despite-fatigue.aspx
  14. I guess Ukraine doesn't care what a Russian born Brit thinks.
  15. I wonder if it will be like the loan the US gave Britain in 1945? It took the UK 61 years to repay. https://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/28/business/worldbusiness/28iht-nazi.4042453.html
  16. I was comparing the threat faced by the UK to that faced by Ukraine. It was simple enough.
  17. Why not? The country faces an existential threat greater than the UK faced. And how can you hold elections in regions disenfranchised by enemy invasion?
  18. There's an irony in our government trying to suppress our freedom of protest in the name of honouring those that fought and died for it.
  19. There were no elections in the UK during both World Wars.
