  1. Hmmm..... I would argue against this. Because when it comes to He Man and the Masters of the Universe, the star of the show was, always has been and always will be Skeletor. I'd rather Anfield be Snake Mountain and Castle Greyskull be Old Trafford because I love 80s/90s cartoon villains and I can't believe we're having this conversation!
  2. "Castle Greyskull" will never, ever fail to make me laugh.
  3. My point here is just that they made changes because the FA Cup is not their priority. Their priority is the league and getting out of it as soon as possible.
  4. The FA Cup is a magnet for cliches. Cliches, and squad rotation for upper mid table Championship teams.
  5. It's not just me mentioning law of averages - I'm not the bad guy here!
  6. Even though I'm biased because I am a contributor, the podcast rules. It's just three or four friends talking about football. No glitz, no razzmatazz (I do appreciate the new microphone though Dave!) just a conversation you'd have in a pub with your mates.
  7. You can write what I know about golf on the back of a stamp. But that's a seriously nice piece.
  8. My personal view is that 5 subs is not only good for us, it's good for every club and for the development of youth team players. The experience that McConnell, Bobby Clark and so on are getting is going to drive their game to a higher level. Obviously our squad goes deeper than a lot of teams but for the likes of Crystal Palace, Fulham etc, the 5 subs is a great way to get their talented youth team players more time on the pitch. It's a no brainer. I understood the argument some teams had against it and it is much more beneficial to the Liverpools of the world in the long run, but having the chance to expose kids to first team football is going to drive standards up across the board.
  9. We had a small section which is where the away end usually is for smaller teams midweek. Think a Bournemouth or a Fulham when they bring half an away end. Things like that really bother me, I am wondering if it's just a cup thing and it probably is - why would I want to be sat closer to Chelsea fans?!
  10. My book will be out just in time for pre-season!
  11. Interesting fact - I wrote this report last night, and I only found out about an hour ago that Southampton forced a replay. Dave has edited that to spare my blushes. Last I knew it was 1-0 to Watford late on.
  12. At this point I can't see how it can be anyone but Alonso. He knows the club, he knows the league, he knows the expectations that come with being Liverpool manager and everything that comes with it. He is doing a great job at Leverkusen. It's a gamble lets be honest but he's constantly being linked with us, Madrid and Bayern. We get first shot at him which is a benefit to us. He is definitely up for coming judging by the way he didn't pour cold water over anything in the press conference earlier. There are plenty of great young managers out there. I like O'Neil at Wolves and Silva at Fulham but they are both levels below where they need to be. I feel like I need to see more of a body of work from De Zerbi as well, something just feels like it wouldn't work out with him. Can't put my finger on it. With that said, Alonso has only been a manager for circa 18 months. As I said earlier he is a gamble.
  13. Completely devastating blow. Klopp was an absolutely perfect fit for Liverpool, in terms of how we like our football and he handled the other side of being Liverpool manager very well - he carried himself as a person, as an ambassador for the club and the city, like nobody else that I can remember save those who came before my time. Hardly any clubs in the world have visibility, responsibility and pressure like the manager's job at Liverpool. In many ways, you're more than the manager, you are the walking representation of the club. It's such a stupid thing to say given what's happened in my life in the past 5 years but I feel like I am grieving. I feel like I've lost someone close to me. It's such a stupid thing to say but this feeling in the pit of my stomach just reminds me of loss. Of course, we will continue, the world will carry on and we'll appoint a new manager. They will have their good points and bad points, they will have their way of playing and we will move past Klopp. The new guy has a huge job on his hands already. The timing is the biggest shock - he's looked rejuvenated with the team he's started to rebuild and I fancied that he might sign another deal and I cannot believe he didn't want another crack at the Champions League. I am absolutely stunned in every conceivable way. I can only hope the announcement has been made now to give the fans and the players some unity towards the end of the season as we roll into battle after battle to try and win finals and critical points. Even so, this is just complete devastation. An absolutely terrible bit of news for the club but he has obviously thought long and hard about it and despite the rebuild and the positivity, this is the decision he has reached.
  14. Unfortunately, it's easy to accidentally talk over each other because there's no queueing system. In the software we use, there's no facility to raise your hand to talk next which would be a really good addition.
  15. There were times yesterday where I was so angry about that blatant red card that I was forgetting just how good a performance that second half was. I thought we were too passive and circumspect in the first half but we flew through the gears in the second and they didn't ever get close to us. What made a nice change to me was that I was never worried we were going to concede. Not for one moment was I worried we were going to let it slip when we got in front. That first goal is so important - when we get it, it means we dictate everything and we have gone back to being a crushing machine when we do. Just don't concede first and needlessly chase games - it makes such a big difference when we do.
  16. I was on the Kop this game as well. Didn't Andy Myers score an absolutely comedy own goal?
  17. Remmie knows. When we were coming through, none of this pass around the back or use the goalkeepers as a quarterback existed. To be a goalkeeper, you had to be a great shotstopper and everything else could go hang. Some goalkeepers used to command their box but that wasn't me. That's what centre halves are for.
  18. These pods are great by the way - we should have a plan for summer to do several shows like this. Especially with the Euros, there'll be loads to talk about. It can be like a This was the week that was in digital format!
  19. All the shade about my goal kicks is perfectly fair, but to mitigate it: - I can throw the ball further than most people can kick it. Huerlio Gomes modelled his game on me. - My penalty saving record was amazing, I saved 3 out of 4 I faced for TLW.
  20. On the wedge he's on, I'd say we're counting the minutes down until we can get him off the books.
  21. Why have so many loans been torn up in January? It feels like pretty much every loan we've made apart from Tyler Morton hasn't worked out.
