    Youth Team/Cup

Full-time - Leeds 5 Liverpool 2 Despite the scoreline, we were the better side. Leeds were just ruthless and clinical on the break. The red card for Mabaya was certainly the defining turning point in the game. We really could have been 2 or 3 goals to the good before Leeds opened the scoring, but our finishing let us down.

Leeds 5 Liverpool 2 Poor defensive header falls to a Leeds player in front of goal and he makes no mistake with the finish.

Leeds 4 Liverpool 2 Terence Miles pulls a goal back getting on the end of a low cross from Frauendorf following a corner.

The referee is having an absolute stinker here. So many wrong decisions in this second half alone.

Leeds 4 Liverpool 1 Counter attack from the home side following a shocking corner from our lads up the other end. Really poor.

    Youth Team/Cup

Leeds 3 Liverpool 1 The 2 goal advantage is restored. We've actually started the second half the better side too, so a blow to concede the third goal.

Harvey Blair sent through one on one with the keeper just before the break but puts his effort wide.

    Youth Team/Cup

Leeds 2 Liverpool 1 Cannonier on the scoresheet once again. Nice work from Harvey Blair to find Bobby Clark's run down the right. The young Geordie cuts the ball back to the penalty spot where Cannonier was on hand to turn home. Probably the hardest of the chances that he's had in the game so far too.

Leeds 2 Liverpool 0 A well worked goal this one. Going to be a long afternoon for the lads now.

Mabaya shown a straight red, so we're now down to 10.

    Youth Team/Cup

Leeds 1 Liverpool 0 The hosts are in front against the run of play in all honesty. Like the 23s yesterday, the lads switch off expecting the game to be stopped after a teammate, Harvey Blair, went down injured.
  14. His release fee was £48m, but he actually cost us more as we paid an additional premium (allegedly around £5m) to ensure that we would sign him at the start of the 2018/19 season, whilst allowing him to play for Leipzig in the 2017 /18 season. He's turned out to be a disappointing signing, but certainly not our worst.

    Prospect Watch - 2021/22

Will update the spreadsheet for this following this weekend's fixtures and will then drop a little write up in for this latest round of fixtures too.
  16. Much like my loan watch thread, I intend to track the stats of some of the upcoming talents around the game this coming season, both from our youth squads and the hottest prospects around Europe too. I'll be tracking appearances, minutes played, goals & assists as well as goals conceded & clean sheets for any keepers. Obviously, I can only track so many players given my own personal and work commitments, so I think I'll track no more than 10 from the start of the season up until the January transfer window when I might swap players around if they're not getting sufficient game time, or it becomes obvious that these players are going to become the next big thing. Two of my personal picks will be from our youth squads, with Conor Bradley and Melkamu Frauendorf the players I am currently most intrigued with. I'm open to requests from forumites on who I should track, so please do drop in your suggestions and I'll do my best to cover them. Ideally, I'd like a variation of players, so not all attackers if you could, please. I do have other players in mind from around Europe if suggestions are not forthcoming, or if suggestions are going to be centred around players of a single area/position. Prospect Watch

    Loan Watch - 2021/22

Time to catch up before this weekend's fixtures begin... Vitezslav Jaros (St. Pat's) - Played 90 minutes in 2 fixtures since my last update. Firstly, he kept a clean sheet against Wexford in a 3-0 home win in the FAI Cup on the 17th. He then played the full 90 last night as St. Pat's went down 1-0 to title rivals Shamrock Rovers, with the goal coming in the second minute of added time. Jakub Ojrzynski (Caernarfon Town) - Jakub has played the full 90 in 2 of the 3 games that Caernarfon have played since my last update - the game he did not feature in was a 5-0 thumping by Newtown in the League Cup. The 2 games he did play in resulted in home wins against Cardiff Metropolitan (2-0) in the league and Prestatyn (3-0) in the Welsh Cup, with the big Pole keeping clean sheets in both games. Sepp van den Berg (Preston) - 2 games for the "Ginger Maldini" since the last update. Full 90 against West Brom in a 1-1 draw in the league, and then came off the bench in 31st minute during the 4-1 home win against Cheltenham in the League Cup. Was booked against the Baggies. Ben Davies (Sheffield United) - Just 1 appearance for Ben. Started the 3-1 League win at Hull before being replaced in the 85th minute. Was not selected for the matchday squad in the League Cup defeat to Southampton. Rhys Williams (Swansea City) - 2 starts for young Rhys in Swansea's last 2 fixtures. Started the 3-3 draw at Luton, but was replaced at halftime after suffering racial abuse from the home support. The lad then played the full 90 in the 2-0 League Cup defeat at Brighton, picking up a yellow card during the game too. Adam Lewis (Livingston) - Consecutive starts against the Old Firm for Adam. Played the full 90 in Livi's fantastic 1-0 win against Celtic in the SPFL - was booked in the first half of this game. He then followed that up with a start against Rangers in the 2-0 League Cup defeat during the week. He was replaced on the stroke of half-time, presumably due to injury. Anderson Arroyo (CD Mirandes) - Just the 1 game for Mirandes, a 2-1 come from behind win at Tenerife in which our young Colombian featured for the full 90. FlashScore interestingly had him lined up at centre half. One for me to keep an eye on. Leighton Clarkson (Blackburn) - Just the 1 substitute appearance for Leighton as he came off the bench in the 67th minute during a 0-0 draw at Oakwell against Barnsley. Jake Cain (Newport County) - Didn't appear in either matchday squad as Newport beat Walsall 2-1 at home (18/09), and then lost 2-1 away at Barrow yesterday evening. Ben Woodburn (Hearts) - Just 1 fixture for Hearts, a 2-2 draw at Ross County in the League on the 18th. Ben started this game and was replaced in the 65th minute. Picked up a booking late in the first half. Sheyi Ojo (Millwall) - Missed Millwall's last 2 games due to illness. Paul Glatzel (Tranmere Rovers) - An unused sub in last weekend's 2-0 home win against Salford. Luis Longstaff (Queen's Park) - Just 1 game and 1 appearance for Luis, coming off the bench in the 80th minute as Queen's managed a 2-2 draw at Clyde to maintain their unbeaten start to their League One campaign.

Full-time - Chelsea 4 Liverpool 3 Ran out of steam in the second half. Should really have had the game put to bed after going 3-1 up. The substitution of Conor Bradley seemed to spark Chelsea's recovery, with them able to get down our right hand side more frequently and find space to score all 3 second half goals from that side of the park.

Chelsea 2 Liverpool 3 The home side back in it. A looping header at the back post as Gallacher is beaten in the air. The ball is headed back across goal and into the net. Marcelo has no chance.
