  1. Dropped the gf's son there recently, just by the Roper Arms. As an avid fan of George and Mildred it made me laugh. Somedays I just have too much fun.
  2. Me too. I have about three hours of raking, laying down weed fabric and watering to do. And I'm looking forward to it. PS. Bought a green Japanese Acer for £8 yesterday, didn't need it but was going cheap so I snapped it up. I may not put it in my rockery with my red one and may put it instead in the front one. Btw, that black 'nigra' plant is a vine if that helps.
  3. The birthplace of Marley's dad has always been an argument. I believe all that is accurately known about him was his captaincy of a boat that visited the UK. Last place I heard he was born was Essex.
  4. Exodus is amongst the best albums ever released, 'Turn your lights down low' and 'Natural Mystic' are beautiful. Also try to hear 'Trenchtown Rock' and his more edgy stuff. Robert Nesta Marley will always be awesome.
  5. Champ, apart from weeding and cutting the grass this is my first ever attempt at 'proper' gardening. I understand that some plants die back in the winter so am looking at evergreens for that main reason so if I could find grasses etc that don't change much in when it's cold that'll be boss. All advice it welcomed. Ideally 80% would be low maintenance but I've got spare time all year to keep on top of it (ooer). Looking at yours and Neko's pics I'd love a mixture of them styles if possible.
  6. I've grew to realise that grasses and ferns are superb and the backdrop to any boss garden. I love Neko's and champ's gardens and will strive to have my patch looking like the backdrop of jurassic park before next year. *T-rex roar*
  7. Cheers Neko, I'm slightly wounded by your critique but shall survive a stronger man! I was considering a small path through the centre for access to the back and I like grasses etc so I could easily change my plans. I'll give it more thought on my budget but thanks for advice. I'll post some pics in a few months when I do more.
  8. Champ, it's facing North East and shady at the back and had partially shade caused by the fencing on the left. I'd love various colours but would like evergreens with summer and spring flowers if possible and have to be hardy. I also think I need to consider heights from 5' to 6' at the back to smaller at front etc. I've ordered a Japanese red acer but may use that on another part of the garden. I've also seen another acer for the side, I think it's called Nigra with black leaves and about 6 foot tall, but would love all opinions.
  9. Neko, you can't see from the picture but the area is covered by overhanging well established trees so the light may be an issue in summer etc.
  10. Neko, no problems as I'm putting down the weed fabric and wood chippings (nettle roots etc) over the weekend so shall start again on Monday. I've no idea about what plants to buy, as I live in North Wales I'm just considering whether they are hardy and their potential height and width along with colours etc. I'd like something with evergreens so would love your advice mate. If you can identify my plants from the picture I'd be interested what your think about the best locations for them. Thanks
  11. Cheers but I've already bought it today, 30 Sq mt plus pegs cost me £30, but I'll use that advise for next time. Here my pond I dug last month, pretty pleased for first attempt apart from the obvious black pond liner.
  12. Neko, what are those orange flowers? I've been given some and was thinking of putting them by my pond. Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk 2
  13. I've found a frog and toads but I'd be made up with newts, I used to collect them in my youth. I'd wee myself with delight if I found a great crested newt. Anyway back to gardening; here's the same picture from the other new thread I started in error. And my frog, I've named him Mike.
  14. This was covered in 6 foot high nettles on Monday. I've placed the plants to get an idea what it'll look like but loads more needed. I'm putting down the weed fabric and wood chippings on Saturday. PS. Can a mod move it to the gardening thread Champ mentioned please?
  15. Any of you pufters enjoy gardening? Three weeks ago I had never even cared but now I've dug and completely kitted out a 5ft by 4ft pond with aquatic and border plants, and this week spent two days clearing a rockery having spent £90 on plants and gardening stuff. I'll be injecting soil into my arsecheeks the way it's going. Anyone else a bit of a Titchmarsh?
  16. I would personally ignore your doctors advise and any medical tips you have been given and do whatever we say on this uneducated forum.
  17. Monkeys can't fly and witches don't melt when drenched in water.
  18. I squealed with delight when I realised it was back. I think I might be a bit gay.
  19. He has gone up in my opinions recently; the recent Question Time ripping of Boris Johnson was superb. He's a bit of a wide boy but he's never going to avoid a topic if he personally feels aggrieved by it. Good on him.
  20. It's NUGGET not NOOOOOOOOOGGGAAAARRR (with your pinkie in the air) ya big fannies. Neg or rep away. NUGGET.
  21. Thanks, Dennis ( sends virtual hugs ) but... Can someone explain what that means.
  22. I did only recently find out but cheers anyway.
  23. Just been advised by a trusty traveller that booking flights to NY (for next July) would be cheaper if booked late Dec 2013 or 4 months before my holiday. Or even with the holiday (as a package) included.Has anyone used this advise themselves?
  24. I have a Rottie & a German Shepherd. If they break in and take anything without dying, they've deserved it.
