  1. Can't stand the fact that Mario Ballotelli already has a song yet Sturridge is still not taken into our repertoire fully. He's the stand out striker in the team now, sees his future in a liverpool shirt. The comment about songs that he made when signing speaks volumes. Lets get behind the lad; it's not like we're blessed with goalscorers at the moment.
  2. The amount of people on here that blindly support Suarez no matter what he does is astounding. 'He'll never do what Torres did to us' - this is what football has come to now. Fuckin mercenaries paid for by us through overpriced tickets and sky packages.
  3. I work near the town hall and the bell started ringing at 3.06pm, once for each of the 96 lost that day. It's quite a stark reminder of just how many fans lost their lives that it has only just stopped at 3.15pm.
  4. Proper looking forward to this tonight. Hardly set the world alight with the performances so far but have just done enough. I hope the expectation doesn't mushroom like it has done in previous tournaments but we'll soon know in a few hours time. Unashamedly, come on England.
  5. I was once interviewed on Saturday morning programme 'Motormouth'. Impressive I know.
  6. The acceptance of 9p in the £ was a non starter. Although EBTs are strictly legal if implemented in the way in which the promoters originally laid out the scheme documents, they do not adhere to the spirit of the law. Schemes such as this are always going to draw close scrutiny from HMRC under the ambition of creating a level playing field. I say ambition because as soon as this scheme is unwound there's a multi million pound industry at work trying to come up with the next scheme. EBTs have been around for a while now in various manifestations but the Rangers case has suddenly rocketed it into the public eye. The firm stance by HMRC is two fold - there's not only a monetary cost to the exchequer but also a keen awareness of the further implications for the wider corporate world. To allow undue leeway in this case would pave the way for challenge in other, sometimes bigger EBT cases. The pursuit of individuals for the remaining debts will be as tough as the pursuit against the company. As for the SPL allowing EBTs etc I'm not sure if they actually have any say in the matter. They will be part of league forums where issues like this are discussed but as far as I'm aware there are no impediments to clubs taking up whichever tax avoidance vehicles they wish to.
  7. Can't an emergency keeper be signed? I thought you could sign a keeper outside the transfer window if you had more than one of your keepers unavailable. I know we did it with Paul Jones a few years back, City did it with Fulop and I think Arsenal did it with Jens Lehmann. Not quite sure who's available but I think we should at least give it some consideration. At the time we took the option with Paul Jones I remember thinking what's the point in having a number 3 or 4 keeper if you're not going to trust them but if there's someone out there that would be a better option than Brad Jones for the semi then why not?
  8. There's another element to my standpoint on this issue. I go for a beer every Friday after work and we've been going into the same bar every week for a long time. I've been into the dark lagers for a while so was made up when they started stocking 'Negra Modelo' a while back. I went in this week only to find they had none in stock. The owner explained that they'd had advice to remove the brand as it may cause offence. If Suarez hadn't said what he had they'd have never taken it off the shelf. Never get between a man and his beer. I'll take Major Tom's advice and bow out of the discussion now.
  9. I've read all 115 pages of the report. If you need a hand reading it let me know it contains a few big words that you won't find in your 'Spot the Dog' books... On the Ferguson thing, that's it you've rumbled me Sherlock - I'm a Manc. Well that's obvious isn't it as I don't share the same view as you so i must be.
  10. Easy tiger. Not everyone has to have the same opinion you know. I'm not in agreement with the way the whole affair has been handled by both sides and I'm perfectly entitled to think that way. I just think Kenny didin't need to say that as it detracts from what's going on on the pitch. Look at the BBC website and a lot of others; that comment got more headlines than the game itself. Now that's largely down to the media seizing upon a bit of a story but they don't need an open invitation to jump on something like that so don't provide it to them.
  11. They stopped people joing the queue about 1.30pm as it's down Skerries Road and from that point there's at least a 4 hour wait. They've said the opening hours have extended to 4pm (I know the maths doesn't quite add up). Why aren't additional windows open? It's just common sense isn't it?
  12. That's fair comment. I agree that the way that the investigation was carried out was seriously flawed but the criticism by the club should have been tempered with an apology first for what Suarez said and a recognition that it was something they'd have to discuss with the player. I think it would have been a more credible rebuttal of the decision which ultimately could have been taken further. The fact that Suarez admitted what he'd said means there was always going to be a ban. 8 games was harsh.
  13. So you think Suarez did nothing wrong whatsoever? I despair at the low level of intelligence of some of our blinkered fans at times. Whilst there are things that I don't agree with about the conduct of the enquiry you can't erase the fact that Suarez did something wrong and should answer for that.
  14. Why did Kenny have to bring it up in the interview? Fergsuon has wisely not got as involved in the issue and Kenny should do likewise. Suarez shouldn't have said what he did and deserves a ban. He should have apologised, blamed it on the cultural differences and accepted that he has things to learn about what's acceptable. If he'd done this he wouldn't have had such a lengthy ban and the club have mugged themselves off with their prickly attitude towards it. Clearly it's not going to go away until after Saturday but there's little point in the club adding fuel to the fire in interviews etc. Suarez has missed 9 games through bans and owes us a return on the fortune we've paid him whilst he's been missing through his stupidity.
