1.

how do you put them on your mp3 player,do you use wmp or a particular programme?

I listened to a novel called Paranoia by Joseph Finder and that was quite good. I`ve read a few of his and they are quite decent.

No I just download them, then right click the files and open with iTunes. Once they are on there then I just sync them with my iPod.

It can be a bit of a pain opening all the individual files with iTunes but it doesn't take too long.

  2. Anyone listen to audiobooks regularly? I've been listening to them for a while now when I go for a run, and it's much better than the same old music which you get bored of.

Now, a good book does not necessarily make a good audiobook. A lot are read by boring middle of the road male Americans. Some have a full cast reading them which is ace, or as in the case of the Alan Partridge one are read by the author themselves.

Another thing is the price of them. Unreal. The complete Song of Ice and Fire boxset is £233 on Amazon. Obviously I wouldn't advocate illegally downloading them, so I will include the links so you can avoid them.

Anyway the aforementioned Game of thrones books are superb, all 5 plus the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas which are set roughly 100 years before the series can be downloaded here

Download George R. R. Martin - A Song of Ice and Fire. Books 1-5, novella Torrent - KickassTorrents

Alan Partridge, read by Alan Partridge himself is also great.

Download I, Partridge - Alan Partridge (Unabridged) Torrent - KickassTorrents

American Gods by Neil Gaiman is a favourite book of mine. The tenth aniversary release last year performed by a full cast is boss. Well work a listen Neal Gaiman - American Gods: The Tenth Anniversary Edition - Demonoid

The Price of fear was a radio show performed by Vincent Price for the BBC in the 70s. 22 episodes for about 30mins each. Roald Dahl wrote some of the episodes and they are a bit like Tales of the unexpected.

Download The [Vincent] Price Of Fear - Audio Drama - MP3 - Slimoo Torrent - KickassTorrents

There are also some great abridged BBC adaptations of various novels with a full cast that last about 3-4 hours, such as

Download Stephen King - 'Salem's Lot (BBC dramatisation) Torrent - KickassTorrents

Download Dracula by Bram Stoker - BBC Radio - SeymourDAC Torrent - KickassTorrents

    Download iPod Audiobook - I Am Legend - M4B-128k - BBC Radio - cheops Torrent - KickassTorrents

Anyone else got any decent ones they have listened to?

  3. People being jokey in meetings at work. Might make me be a sad cunt but it drags the whole process on for triple the time. I hate meetings, they are always tedious and always filled by some idiot going on about the same fucking thing for over 50% of the time. So when you add to that constant shitty, lowest common denominator non-jokes that people laugh at because of how awkward they feel, it drags on forever. I long for a quick, to the point meeting so we can get out and talk about Blumpkins and fondue.

We have a meeting every two weeks about the work we do. That is all it's about, the actual work. Nothing else. It's not a general meeting, it's just to discuss any problems with the work we process.

Every fucking time though someone has to pop up with some shit about how it isn't fair they had to give a weeks notice for a day off but such and such a person didn't. Or how it's too hot in the room we work in. Or some other shit that's got nothing to do with the actual meeting.

Just fuck off and bring it up directly to your boss outside the meeting. That's not what they are for, I don't give a fuck about your problems and I want to go and get my dinner because I'm starving and I've been in since 7 when you were still in bed you fucking cunt.

  4. Fucking great day yesterday. The organisation wasn't as good as when I saw Oasis there, but there were no major problems to be honest. I didn't que to go the toilet once and I think the most I waited to get served for a pint was about 20 minutes.

I lost my mates coming out though and walked for fucking ages trying to find a phonebox because my phone had died. Ended up by a Maplin/Blockbuster miles away so I didn't get picked up until about 1 in the morning.

Saw the lad who plays Liam in Benidorm ( which I've never seen ) and had a laugh with him. I had a spliff and he asked for a pull then fucked off with it! Cheeky cunt.

The sound was fucking great, the atmosphere was electric and even getting in at 2 in the morning caked from head to foot in mud couldn't dampen my mood.

  5. This is from my boss today, he isn't a bullshitter and he doesn't know fuck all about politics so I believe him.

We work right by the Crowne Plaza in town and my boss was walking through the car park about half 12 on his dinner. It's got a gym in it, and the car park is always chocker with people going there.

Anyway he said there was only one empty space which has a little traffic cone in front of it to stop people parking there. This Audi pulls up with three meatheads in it and the passenger gets out, moves the cone and the car pulled into the space.

The doorman runs over to them :

Doorman : You can't park there.

    Meathead : Why not?

Doorman : That spot is reserved for Iain Duncan Smith

    Meathead : Who is he?

Doorman : He is a government minister and we have reserved the space for him.

Meathead : Does he pay £40 a month to use the gym here?

Doorman : No, he isn't a member of the gym.

Meathead : Well you'll have to tell him to find another space then.

    * Meatheads walk away into the gym *

  6. I'm going here for the second time this weekend. Might be a little small for the numbers you're talking but what we did last time was have some camp in the garden.

Depends what you're looking for really as it's really remote, we just stock up at Tesco and get wasted in the countryside all weekend

Looks boss that Paulie, how much is it?

  7. Ah right, cheers mate, yeah my memory is a bit sketchy but I remember some of the movies under the banner were really suspenseful. Is there any chance of getting the names of some of the movies that were on?

Was this the opening to it?

As far as I can tell, these are some of the films:

Bridge Across Time (TV 1985) - IMDb starring the Hoff no less

Crowhaven Farm (TV 1970) - IMDb

The Power Within (TV 1979) - IMDb

The Blood on Satan's Claw (1971) - IMDb I actually remember this one as a kid, so maybe I saw it on ITV as part of the series.

Gemini Man (TV Series 1976) - IMDb

The Medusa Touch (1978) - IMDb

When Time Ran Out... (1980) - IMDb

    Snowbeast (TV 1977) - IMDb

Don't Go to Sleep (TV 1982) - IMDb

No Place to Hide (TV 1981) - IMDb

She Cried Murder (TV 1973) - IMDb

    Nightkill (1980) - IMDb

  8. Does anybody remember a programme that was on in the mid 80's called Murder, Mystery and Suspense? I was only a kid at the time but the programme was creepy as fuck. I can't find any references to it anywhere or anywhere where I'd be able to watch them now (which means it must have been my vivid imagination and it was really a bag of shite and not creepy at all). If anyone knows of this programme or where I'd be able to watch episodes of it let me know thanks.

According to this forum Murder Mystery Suspense on ITV in the 80s - Forums @ The Digital Fix it wasn't a series in it's own right, rather just a banner that ITV used to show different movies every week?

  9. Argument for gay marriage would also legalise incest and polygamy, claim bishops and MPs | Society | The Observer

A lobby group against gay marriage, formed by MPs and bishops, is embroiled in a row after one of its leaflets claimed that the logical argument for reforming the law would be equally applicable to the legalisation of incest and polygamy.

The eight-page document, produced by the Keep Marriage Special campaign, whose supporters include the former bishop of Rochester, the Rt Rev Michael Nazir Ali, warns of the "consequential impact" of the reform.

The glossy leaflet, which has a picture of a mixed-race couple in an embrace on the cover, claims: "If the only basis for marriage is the desire of the parties to get married then there is, according to the logic of this proposal, no reason not to open up marriage to more than just same-sex couples. Polygamy, polyandry and incest would all be permissible."

It adds: "The immigration service is already swamped with false marriages – this would only add to their problems."

At the moment, only men and women are permitted to marry; same-sex couples can only form civil partnerships, which became law in 2005. Civil partnerships give same-sex couples the right to the same legal treatment as married couples across a range of matters, but the law does not allow such unions to be referred to as marriages.

A Home Office consultation exercise on a change to the law is believed to have received more than 100,000 responses, including one from the Keep Marriage Special campaign, whose vice-presidents include the Democratic Unionist MPs Nigel Dodds and Jeffrey Donaldson and Bishop David Samuel, president of the Protestant Reformation Society. The campaign's president is Viscount Brentford, of the Church Society.

The campaign's leaflet boasts: "We include members both of the House of Lords and the House of Commons, as well as bishops, clergy and members of the Church of England and the free churches."

It adds: "There is nothing homophobic about stating the biblical position that all sexual activity outside marriage is wrong. Christians must show love to all people and are themselves sinners whose sins have been forgiven. They have a duty to tell the truth about right and wrong and to proclaim the good news that God forgives the sins of all who repent and trust in Jesus Christ."

However, Ethan Bourne, from the cross-party equal rights video campaign, Out4Marriage – which is backed by the home secretary, Theresa May, and the deputy prime minister, Nick Clegg – described the Keep Marriage Special campaign as "extremist and confused".

He added: "We are not for incest or polygamy, but for allowing marriage between two people of the same sex who love each other. What the Keep Marriage Special campaign is doing is talking about a different issue altogether."

Although David Cameron supports the change, a number of Conservative MPs have voiced their opposition to the measures. They include the defence secretary, Philip Hammond, who has said that gay marriage is "not a priority", and the Northern Ireland secretary, Owen Paterson, who has said he will not vote for it.

However, Clegg issued a stark warning last week to Conservative MPs and church leaders who oppose gay marriage. The deputy prime minister, who last week became the most senior politician to record a video message for the Out4Marriage group, said: "I've always been very clear on this: love is the same, straight or gay, so the civil institution should be the same too. All couples should be able to make that commitment to one another, regardless of who they love."

A running survey of MPs' stated views by the Coalition for Equal Marriage suggests 245 MPs are likely to support legalising gay marriage, with 62 against and 16 neutral. The views of the remaining 327 MPs are not yet known

  10. Lucky fucker, how much were the tickets mate?

£60 each I think, worth every penny. Best gig I've seen for a while. He pulled some woman out to dance with during Dancing in the dark in a jumpsuit like this

    Floral-Print-Jumpsuit.jpg

Who was about the size of a small planet. He just started laughing and said he'd never seen anyone in an outfit like that! He was great with the crowd, pulled a few kids out to sing some of the lyrics, it must have been brilliant for them.

To be honest though, all through the gig I just kept looking at the stage and thinking ' how mad does Silvio look with a bandana on? '

  11. Saw him in the Etihad last night, he was fucking amazing. Absolutely brilliant, nearly a 3 hour set. I've had to dish out some retrospective neg on this thread as well. ' pop dribble ' indeed!

Played this at the end, and all stopped playing at this lyric whilst they all looked at a montage of Clarence Clemons playing. Ace.

When the change was made uptown

And the big man joined the band

From the coastline to the city

All the little pretties raise their hands

Im gonna sit back right easy and laugh

When scooter and the big man bust this city in half

With a tenth avenue freeze-out, tenth avenue freeze-out

    Tenth avenue freeze-out...

  12. The whole thing stinks of a classic pre empted strike to avoid more revelations about the massive avoidance of tax from corporations and filthy rich individuals or just a simple way of taking the heat off a government in crisis and shifting the blame onto others and then telling everybody what a brilliant policy their alleged clampdown on tax loopholes is.

Its the tip of the iceberg and these well known people are pretty much the lower end of the scale.

I'm also pretty sure that the likes of Carr, dont know about Barlow, have revealed sympathy to the labour party too.

That cant do any harm either.

  13. Fellow King fans, I've all but decided to start The Dark Tower series next instead of The Malazan Empire books. A few questions :

    1) What is the correct order to read the books in? I've heard the last book is set between books 4 and 5, so should it be read last or in order?

    2) Are The Talisman and Black House part of the series?

    3) Anyone give a general overview of the series? I've heard it starts great but the ending is a bit of a let down?

    Ta.
