  1. Imaginary conversation between Gaylord (UEFA) and Jesus Pitarch, Director of Sport, Valencia FC. Monday Sept 20th 9. am G: Hi there Jesus, old pal. How’s life? JP: Thanks G, what can I do for you? G: You see, the day after tomorrow we have this match between Atletico Madrid and Liverpool. As you know we’ve banned Calderon, and I wonder if we could borrow Mestalla? JP: You mean we should arrange it for you. Distributing tickets, organizing police and security, the lot? G: Yeah, that’s it JP: There’ll be travellers coming to town won’t it. How many do you expect down here? G: Only 40.000-50.000 JP: Sure mate, that’ll be no problem. I’ll just call the hotels around and book 30.000 rooms, I’m sure they have plenty of rooms available, no problem. If not they could spend the night in one of our beautiful parks, or stay at my place Sure thing mate, just send them down here. G: Thanks, knew I could count on you.
  2. Exactly. If UEFA doesn’t let Atletico use the Calderon next Wed, they need to find someone else who’s willing to arrange it. Who? If I were Chief of Police in Bilbao, Valencia or where ever my answer would be: “NO fuc*** way!” UEFA acting before they think again me thinks. My god they must be slow thinkers. They act slower than a lame turtle, still they act faster than they think. Will be interesting to see what excuse they’ll come up with when they decide the match will be played in Madrid after all.
  3. 1. Alonso 2. Kuyt 3. Skrtel 4-6 Gerrard, Torres and Carra
  4. Well, that’s the problem isn’t it? You take for granted they really want (or at least wanted) to build a new stadium. I’m being increasingly convinced they never meant to build anything at all. There are plenty of good reasons to present new stadium plans to the fans and media without actually meaning to go forward with the plans. Why the 70K seater now? They now perfectly well they’ll not get the nod for more than a 60K stadium. Come January and they can tell us how the city council are to blame for not accepting the new plans. Convenient wouldn’t you say?
  5. I take it you’re on here not as a Liverpool fan and that’s OK. Maybe Gillette is a hockey fan, maybe he’s doing something good for the Canadians, I really don’t know? Maybe Hicks isn’t exploiting the Texas Rangers fans, again I don’t know. But I do know what they’re doing to Liverpool FC. They’ve loaded the club itself with huge debts. We’re supposed to pay interest for those loans in excess of our profits. Before they came there were profits that could be used to strengthen our team, now that money’s gone. And that’s got nothing to do with any new stadium. As you probably is aware of nothing’s been done to start build a new stadium. We’ve bought some fine players yes, but they’re all bought with loans that threatens to strangle us. We’ve heard loads of promises from our owners, all proven later to be lies. You don’t really expect us to believe more promises do you? New stadium plans? I'm having a laugh. The fact is our owners are driving us towards bankruptcy. On the way they seem to make as much cash for themselves as they can. Leverage business is that what it’s called? They haven’t sold our best players you say. Not yet I answer. We’re not an investment for them, we’re their cash cow. And it’s getting increasingly hard for us to breathe, they’re strangling us.
  6. Didn’t know your kind still existed, a boycotter at last! I’m also on my own silly private boycott, but our efforts looks pointless don’t you think? All I see is people one minute yelling “Yanks out!” next minute lining up to fill their pockets. A new sales record for the club shop, that’s how effective our boycott will prove to be.
  7. Both club and fans are to blame. In an ideal world no fan should pay more than face value for a ticket (a thank you beer and maybe a donation to one of the Hillsborough groups apart). And no fan should accept more than face value when passing on their ticket. The club should do their utmost to avoid touting incl. the “legal touting” they’re supporting today by giving tickets to travel agencies etc. Jonte is avoiding his moral duties by saying “if I don’t someone else will”. Those passing on tickets for a profit use the same phrase as their excuse. Here’s a word for your kind: Solidarity. You’ll find the meaning of the word in the dictionary. The not so funny thing is. With the technology of today it should be pretty easy to apply a fair and just way to distribute the tickets, taking care of both local support and long distance support. To say OOT’s like Jonte should go only to the low profile games is a bit unfair. However, local fans being squeezed out of the big games for economical reasons is mighty unfair. There are ways to sort this out. If only someone would put me ion charge of the T.O.
  8. Masch would have gotten my vote if he'd done his job on the first mancs goal. Benny was immense too, and apart from the first 15 mins Riera's debut was more than I hoped for. Hard to pick a MOM this time but I go for: 1. Dirk 2. Aurelio 3. Carra
  9. Honestly, no, but player for player I think we're pretty close. I didn't think we fielded a better team than Chelsea in that Charity shield match either. And I don't believe Standard Liege has better players than us, still we needed the help of pure luck to beat them. What I do believe, however, is that team spirit and being in the right state of mind is essential. With a positive approach I do think we can win it, in style!
  10. Thanks mate. I don’t know where you get your info from, but you speak well and what you say do make sense. I’ve never believed the £500M+ rumours anyway. I can’t bring myself to believe they’d splash out money for the fun of it Abramowich style. Let’s hope we have one more shot for the title before we go down. I fear it’s gonna bew a while before we’ll be challenging again
  11. From what we’ve seen from these to leeches so far I don’t believe for one second they ever wanted to build that new stadium. I believe the stadium PLANS were made for different purposes. One of course was to fool Moores into selling. Secondly it was good PR and it took almost a year before the press and us fans started to ask questions, it bought them time. Last but not least it was a necessary thing to do in order to get those giant loans they’ve burdened us with. That’s what I believe. I’ve got no proof, I’m just putting two and two together. Let’s hope I’m wrong and you’re not. It wouldn’t be the first time in history someone got themselves into a business, piled up the debt, sold off it’s assets and basically ripped it to pieces. The moral standard of a certain Mr Hicks is annoyingly worrying.
  12. You’re probably right but my feeling is they’re there for the taking, especially now they’re without that gay Portuguese lad. If only we dared go after them. Remember Charity Shield august 2007. Ballack made his debut for Chelsea and we fielded what looked far from our best XI? Ok, it was only the Charity Shield, but we wiped the floor with those mercenaries. Confidence and guts, that’s what it takes. Play some fast one-two’s and leave Vidic/Ferdinand on their arses. Twat them like Robbie used to do. We need to, it’s about time we did
  13. How can you be so sure they ever planned to build the stadium? Maybe everything IS going according to the business plan.
  14. If the yanks continue to run the club the way they do, surely it’s only a matter of time before we face bankruptcy. Do you think the Arabs would sit tight and wait for that to happen and then try to rebuild picking up the pieces? Or do you think they’ll try to take over a bit earlier?
  15. Aye Captain, but I do see the financial point of qualifying for next years CL. Actually that’s what I am saying. It’s a simple matter of what the yanks consider most profitable, qualification for next years CL or profits from selling our stars. I very much doubt they’re planning to stay beyond this season, if so they couldn’t care less about our financial situation next year, bar the selling price of course.
  16. Mentality 1: Let’s go out and have fun. Let’s play’em off the turf and show the world they’re a giant in decline = easy win. Mentality 2: They’re better than us. We need to be careful and keep it tight. Hopefully we can get one in and keep a clean sheet = loose. I’m sorry to say but I don’t believe we’ll be in the right state of mind. I fear it will be the usual dull game ending goalless or we’ll loose by that inevitable odd manc goal. But one can always hope we’ll be in gear 1.
  17. Yet another one who thinks improving or indeed keeping us at today’s level is important to our owners. Imagine the yanks plan to stay another year at most, what good would it be to them if we had Torres and Gerrard in the team by the end of the season? The selling price of the club obviously would be higher, but how much higher? It cooks down to a simple what’s in it for me kind of decision doesn’t it? Make up a story of how we need the money for the new stadium, sell’em both and explain to the public how the future is more important than the present. Add another loan and off we go back to the mighty America, yiiihaaa! Stadium money? They'll vaporize..
  18. The fact is DIC’s original bid of app. £ 230M made sense economically. A long term investor could probably hope and plan for future profits with a bid like that. To me a new take-over bid of £500M+ seems over the odds. Are DIC or whoever willing to come on board as our sugar daddy? I fear they won’t, it may be too late now. The original Moores’ decision to sell to the yanks rather than the Arabs may very well have sealed our destiny. As for the yanks I’ve seen nothing to suggest they want to stay on the long run. Quite the opposite, all they’re doing is draining us for as much as they can. Stadium? What a great opportunity to justify those large loans. Without that stadium how could they conceal their actual intensions, huh? Take on a big loan. Then suddenly there’s £60M missing. Then another loan etc. Selling? Yes they might, but only if that gives them more profit than what they’re doing right now. It looks like they’re at the moment judging it more profitable to kill us off. Or maybe there simply isn’t a buyer?
  19. That's the spirit. Let's keep quiet and careful not to disturb our owners. I fold!
  20. Now the transfer window is closed I really hope to see him at least sitting on the bench. You’d want players on the bench who could provide something different if our plan A fails. Surely, even those who doesn’t rate Jermaine must agree he’s offering something different to what we’ve got. That might, just might, change a game. I’m glad he’s still with us. With all the stick he’s got I’m beginning to feel like his biggest fan. Go show them how to play Jermaine, and stick a couple of goals in the back of the net to shut up your critics. May I suggest the mancs game as good place top start?
  21. Every team has a dip in form during the marathon called the season. I believe we’re having ours right now. Still we’re sitting on top of the league and have secured the crucial CL spot. I agree we’ve been lucky so far and won’t be able to ride on that wave for too long. I’m confident though we’ll start playing better and win games without the aid of the angel Fortuna. The game against the mancs is a fantastic opportunity for the rest of the players to show we can do the job without Gerrard or Torres. If they can do just that we might be looking at a very good first half of the season. Bring’em on!
  22. All it takes really is "an offer they can't refuse". So c'mon my Arab friends, it's time to play hardball.
  23. Spot on! For a leech, basically it all comes down to what is more profitable. 1. Taking the 60M now or 2. Continue to tap the club of it’s assets. So far they’ve got their initial "investment" back. There’s 60M last year that seems to be missing and probably has found it’s way to the yankee pockets. Then there’s the 60M for the stadium, what’s happening to that? My guess is the Hicks/Gillette quarrel was about this. Gillette wanting the fast 60M and Hicks expecting more the Gordon Gekko way. Unless some Arab Prince shows us mercy, which I really can't get myself to believe, we are as you say fucked. Us the fans will survive however and from the ashes a new Liverpool FC will arise.
  24. In theory you don’t need to win any. 2 losses 4 draws in Groupstage is enough. Then go through the knock-out rounds with all draws on away goal rule. In the final though, you’ll need to win the Penalty Shoot-out. Let’s call that a win, so one win is all you need. Then again you could win the Premier League without winning one single game. Technically correct? WTF is that really? Anyhow even technically Mr Gray is wrong.
  25. When people are angry about something they can’t do anything about, they organize protest marches, sing protest songs, hand out protest leaflets. If well organized the protesters even get national media coverage. Have you ever seen protesters actually achieve anything other than comfort for themselves. “We won’t take this anymore”, “we’re doing something about it” they say – Yeah right! It’s the same with us. Last seasons protests and boycott resulted in what? A new sales record for the club shop? Leeches know this, I bet it gives them a good laugh – all the way to the bank. Workers protesting while they rip the factory apart, fans protesting while they rip the club apart, it’s no difference. Believe me. Our custodians will continue to suck the blood out of us for as long as there’s anything left to take. A leech will only stop when there are no more assets to sell. Stadium plans, buying Torres. There’s a name for that: Public Relation. It’s not necessary to do this, but it’s probably good for business to split the fans a bit. We’ve all heard fans say “after all they did buy Torres”. All I can do is to sit back and wait for administration and hope that it comes sooner rather than later. I the meantime I’ll comfort myself by supporting the AFC bunch . After all they’re trying to put something genuine together.
