  1. This lad is going to be amazing for us. While I was sad to see Pep go, I do think right now Mig is the better keeper. I agree that it wasn't our most pressing position to fill, but if we waited another year, Mignolet could have doubled in value.
  2. Have to say spurs would seem to have bought well and are probably building a better team, even if they lose bale. However, they are losing one of the best players in the world and all their signings ave little experience of the premiership. If they don't make the top 4, then they are royally twatted. There is still time to get in a few players. I'm very impressed with someone like Toure. Maybe cissokho will be another find. You look at the mancs under whiskey nose, their two best pound for pound signings were probably Irwin and Schmeicheal.
  3. This is the reason why he isn't worth more than 40 mil. The fella is trouble and we should get rid ASAP. If Arsenal give us anything from 42-45 mil, then happy fucking days. We can get 2-3 top players for that money and not have the worry about what he'll do next. I'm annoyed with myself for getting taken in by him. He's a prick and I bought into all the us against the world nonsense. To think, club legends like Whelan, Hansen, and Thompson (even pundit of the year Lawro) were absolutely castigated for coming out against him after the bite. I feel like a right knobhead fo being one of the people castigating them, when in the cold light of day, he is everything that Shanks, Bob, Ronnie and Joe would abhore.
  4. Whether Mignolet becomes as good as Pepe is one thing, but I do think he's a quality addition. I really like Aspas and think he'll be a boss signing and Kolo Toure could be a Gary Mac type signing. Alberto looks good as well. It's early days so I'm not going to throw all my toys on the floor. When we were away, some deals could have been tied up over the phone and verbal agreements made, although I don't know why Ayres couldn't have been back here rather than sightseeing in South East Asia. Alot is based on Suarez staying or leaving I reckon.
  5. This is all a bit daft lads. All fans have their idiots, we have plenty of our own. I remember after the 7/7 bombings, some clubs like Hull and other mostly Northern teams engaging in songs about the bombings. I also remember going to Old Trafford in the 70s and 80s, when some of our fans were doing the plane gestures (contrary to what some of our fans might say, this didn't start after Hillsborough). I've met loads of Rangers and Celtic fans down the years and I've liked most of them. Maybe some of these same Rangers fans were at games singing about atrocities of Catholics/Irish, while some of those Celtic fans were singing of atrocities of British soldiers/Loyalists but I doubt it. I'd also wager a bet that the Celtic/Rangers fans that engage in such chanting, aren't too different to the Mancs who sing about Hillsborough or our fans that do the helicopter. One word scumbags and you find them in every village, town and city around the world lads.
  6. That money is crazy for Bale, but he is a fabulous player and if he leaves, then I really think we'll finish ahead of them. Only thing is it's a bit like us with Suarez, better all round teams can be built with that sort of money. I would say a lot of our potential targets are their targets, so the longer it drags on the better, while I just hope if Luis is going a proper 50mil bid is made and we can get the players we want in - a few people I've spoken to reckon that we have Suarez going and Suarez staying targets and that makes sense. Like or loathe the owners, they surely know that unless 2 very good and well known players are bought if Luis goes, there will be absolute uproar from the fans.
  7. Don't say too much lads, I've only seen two episodes!!
  8. Coming from Scottie Road, those Dublin accents aren't too hard to understand. However, my Cockney wife hadn't a clue what some of them were saying :) that Nidge fella seems a great actor.
  9. Anyone been watching Love Hate? Looks promising.
  10. Couldn't have put it better. I know for a fact that a lot of our great players of the past like Terry Mac, Hansen, Lawro, Kenny, Whelan and Barnsie turned down moves to the top Italian/Spanish sides to stay with us, at a time when those players would have been set up for life by moving. Some of our old legends might be shite pundits and maybe knobheads, but they didn't piss on the club like fellas like Suarez.
  11. Agree with all of that. Were it not for his disciplinary record we could sell him for about 70 million. We could get Soldado, Erriksson and possibly a large chunk of the cost of a centre half target paid for by selling him and we don't have to worry about the next moment of madness happening.
  12. The press despise him and always will. There are a lot of good ordinary football fans around the country who will totally lose respect for him if he leaves us. If he went to a European club, I'd be annoyed but would find it understandable. Him leaving for Arsenal, just shows he's a mercenary.
  13. Never seen soldado, but he's supposed to be ace. If we are losing Luis, then at least we're hopefully getting a top player. On a sidenote, I think Suarez is going to do something mental this season. If the money we get for him, gets us 2-3 positions sorted, then good riddance. Next time, he acts like a lunatic, the FA will throw the book at him. If he leaves for Arsenal, then it shows you what a cunt he is.
  14. I love Pepe but bar the end of last season, he's been very poor by his standards. As somebody mentioned earlier, this isn't some computer game, you can't make people move to clubs they don't want to. It might be that the club have told him he'll start as number 2 and Napoli came in with a loan offer and Pepe wanted to join Rafa. The club recognise he's been a loyal servant and see a chance to shave a few million off the wage bill. With Pepe playing for a good side like Napoli, his value won't go down. I rate Mignolet very highly and I think he'll be a top goalie for us. A centre half like Alderweireld and Higuain and 10-15 million if Luis leaves and I'll be happy with things. Someone like Bernard would be great once we get those two positions sorted. I'd go for James McCarthy of Wigan if there's money left in the bank. I think he's a very good player and could be the defensive midfielder we want.
  15. Hope that he gets better. Would love if AVB took over. He's a good manager and as already said it would be good to have the Spuds in a bit of disarray. I actually think if Rodgers is successful, then he could be with us for 20 or more years. I get the impression he really feels honoured to manage a club of our stature and I think he'd love to create a dynasty like Shanks.
  16. Agree totally about being proactive in getting Higuain as part of any Real deal for Luis. If he does leave for Real, then we could get a good chunk of money and a very good player. The extra money can be put towards Erikkson or a centre half.
  17. Was talking with a Spanish mate who supports Bilbao and he reckons that Aspas is a seriously good player. He thinks we got a serious bargain on our hands and reckons he'll be one of the stand out players of next season's Premier League.
  18. I would consider in today's market, Mata is a 25-35 million player (in that category of player). 10 mil and a player like Mata is about right I reckon. We can't forget that while Luis is one of the best players in the world, he has a tendency to behave like a lunatic on a regular basis and few players are more adept at finding controversey than him. If I was the manager of Real or Bayern, I wouldn't pay much more than 40 million for Luis, because of his disciplinary record and the likelihood of him being banned for periods of the season. Clubs like Anzhi, Monaco or PSG need to take a risk on someone like Luis and if we do sell him, I just hope it's to one of those clubs who could pull out something like a 60/70 mil bid out of nowhere.
  19. Chelsea have made a right fuck up in my opinion by offering Mata and 10 million for Rooney. Rooney was world class, he may still be but that's a big if. Mata is world class and would walk into almost any team in the world. United would be a much improved team with Mata. I would love if we got 10 million and Mata for Suarez. Yeah, Luis is the third best player in the world, but he wants out and while I like the lad in a lot of ways, I think he's capable of doing anything to get his move. Also, he's likely to do something crazy again and when he does, his value will go down about ten million.
  20. Larwo was one of the best defenders of his generation. He'd have been a candidate for a world 11 at the time (as would Jocky). Whelan was world class as well. If Macca, Houghton and Nicol weren't world class, then they were very very close. All 5 were great players in an era when we were the best club side in the world. It baffles me how the likes of Agger, Lucas or riise could be rated higher than those 5. Agger or Lawro...no contest, Lucas or Whelan/Macca...no contest.
  21. How the fuck is Riise, Lucas and agger ahead of Whelan, Nicol, McMahon and Houghton among others. Given me a good laugh as I get the BBQ ready for my two bluenose sons in law coming over at least. http://liverpoolfc.wikia.com/wiki/100_Players_Who_Shook_The_Kop_(2013)
  22. I don't blame him for wanting to go to Real. They're a great club and he deserves to be playing at the very top of the game. We are probably about 3 years away from being a top team, even though I'm really impressed with Brendan. However, he's behaved like a knob the past few weeks. If he really cared for us, he'd keep his gob shut. Instead, he's mouthing off at every opportunity talking about how he needs to leave. He's the third best player in the world. This alone makes him a 60 million player. However, with all the bullshit he brings, I'd be delighted with 45 million. With that, we could buy about 3 top players.
