    Those three affected clubs are more than big enough to form a major and hugely influential lobbying alliance. Don’t understand why they’re not liaising at CEO level on it.

    Probably no harm that Chelsea will be in a position to give City a bit of decent opposition next weekend in the cup.

    It’s unlikely we’ll even beat Fulham next Sunday, Kev. I don’t think City will drop anything, but even if they do ourselves or Arsenal won’t capitalise.

    ‘At least Arsenal won’t win it now/At least Liverpool won’t win it now.’ I also think that this kind of discourse and the consolation that we take in City winning it over a rival ‘real’ football club like ourselves or Arsenal takes focus off the flagrant cheating and the 115 charges. The tribalism doesn’t help.

    A Man City/Arsenal semi-final might slightly boost our chances, but it’s likely we’ll only drop points ourselves if the opportunities even arise. We’ve had a few of these phases under Klopp, and they usually last for several games. They’re as awful as our good runs are brilliant.

    It really wasn’t. A home win against Crystal Palace and we’d be a point ahead. All irrelevant now though.

    One of our greatest ever attackers, but everything comes to an end. Needs to move on in the summer. His wages and whatever fee we’d get for him will give the new regime a lot more freedom in any rebuild.

    I think he’s had a good debut season and looks a bit wrecked now. Our training load and style of play is hugely attritional.

    At their peak, these three were absolutely elite as a unit. Horribly unlucky - and hard done by - to only win one league and one European Cup with them. The slight friction between two of them worked to our advantage too. I don’t think we’ll ever build an attack that potent again.

    I’m usually moronically optimistic but there’s no way we’re winning all our remaining games. City will comfortably win theirs anyway. Absolutely they’re cheats, but we’ve dropped five points to them in two very winnable games at the most crucial part of the season. Arsenal were similarly brittle today and that’s probably it for them too as they’ve tougher games to come.

    I know we signed him as a 9, but he’s not up to it. I still think he could play a role for us out wide but I like Nunez and in general I’m probably too loyal to our players anyway.
