  1. Is that the place in Chicago that inspired The Bear? Decent, very fucken decent.
  2. This seems as good a place to post a recommendation as anywhere. The new Uranium Club record arrived with me this week and I absolutely freaking love it; it's full of post-punk energy, a bit weird (part way through it becomes a concept album about a wall appearing in the middle of a town) and fun as hell. The album opener "Small Grey Man" is one of the best singles I've heard in a long, long time and I've been a bit obsessed with it since hearing it on Marc Riley's show a couple of months back.
  3. The National - The Geese of Beverley Road (presumably the one in Hull):
  4. Vlad in "sniffy about other people's cultural choices" shocker.
  5. You leave dweebs alone! We were always destined to inherit the earth!
  6. Two from the archives: @Stouffer makes a cup of tea with a Hinari kettle. @RJ Fan club steals a George Foreman grill from a dead forumite's funeral.
  7. And one from my Manga phase:
  8. They built a new 65,000 seater stadium called...The Watford Stadium. Pricks. Although my mate playing as West Ham also got a new ground - The James Tomkins Stadium.
  9. Of course I've cheated at CM/FM, everyone has. I'm currently at pre-season in 2031/32 of a network game of FM13 with some friends. We started it in lockdown and that was the most recent version we all already owned. We play most weeks and it's immense fun, with no cheating (other than exploiting youth intake days). I got sacked from Cardiff within months of the game starting and then got the Watford job, with them bottom of the Championship ship. We've now won 8 PLs, 4CLs and about 30 other trophies in what has been described by some as "The Hornet Bastard Dynasty". It's very competitive but our four teams of Watford, Derby and West Ham have risen to the top alongside Arsenal to be the best teams in the world.
  10. People who say expresso can fuck off.
  11. It's another example of why teaching phonics is stupid, because the English language is stupid. There are more exceptions to the rules than rules. Although I like what I think someone on here once said - "never criticise someone for mispronouncing a word - they learned that word through reading."
  12. Until about two years ago I thought hyperbole was pronounced hyperbowl. "Aaaand this year's Hyperbole will be a face-off between the Saturn Titans and the Jacksonville Jetpackers!!"
  13. Bye-oppick, shirley? Like biography, you don't say bio-graphy, do you?!
  14. I'm coming to the conclusion the answer is "all of it". Watching the game yesterday just didn't fill me with joy, from the overenthusiastic super reds cheering every little thing like it was a goal, the apathetic Man City fans who spent the entire game on their phones, the guys next to me more interested in the impact on their fantasy football teams and the friends I watched it with who only seem to be in for the "banter". Throw in the refereeing and VAR shitfest and I wonder what it is I love[d] about the game. I feel completely deflated today and it's not because of the result, it's the lack of enjoyment I took from any of it. It's probably a sign I'm done with it, I'd much rather have spent the time with my family.
  15. Has tha' nowt moist?! A real austerity breakfast vibe going on here. Repped for contributing and putting yourself through it.
  16. I attempted to recreate one of the exceptional sandwiches from a local Italian deli. This is a toasted focaccia with mozzarella, mortadella, giardiniera, sun-dried tomato paste, tomatoes and lettuce and is nothing short of sensational.
  17. It's still Dan Kitson, although he may not quite qualify as a "stand up comedian". I like James Acaster too.
  18. Back to proper coffee content, I treated myself to a bag of this stuff last week, it is absolutely sensational: https://www.origincoffee.co.uk/products/fuyan
  19. Part of Starbucks' model is to saturate the market, in some instances/areas they don't care if an individual shop makes money so long as the bigger business does. They'll flood an area - as happened in Sheffield - with new stores to monopolise the market, fully expecting a number of those stores to eventually close. But yeah, there are fucking loads. And their coffee is shit.
  20. Appalling shout about Costa, see the coffee thread for proper middle class coffee discussions - pour-overs, roasting profiles, freshness of the beans, spending disgusting amounts of money on equipment. Any "coffee" that comes out of an automated machine in a supermarket besmirches the wankery of middle class coffee snobbery.
  21. Lots of decent discussion and acknowledgement of different opinions about fullbacks on this page. You're all fucking wrong and we should start Trent in midfield, Gomez at CB and convert Szoboszlai and Jones in to wing backs.
