  1. I love the honest and integrity he's showing in all of this but that's no surprise. I'm sure he's really excited about spending more time back in Germany with his family and young grandkid. Imagine having Jürgen as your granddad!
  2. This is an interesting video from a few months ago suggesting it should be Xabi, De Zerbi or Nagelsmann:
  3. Devastated but what an opportunity to go out on the highest of highs and leave a great legacy for Xabi to pick up. Thanks, Jürgen.
  4. Some people stand in the darkness Afraid to step into the light Joe Gomez needs to mark somebody Shoots whenever the goal is in sight * Runs in slow motion *
  5. I had "abdominal surgery" and was in hospital for 3 weeks in two stints. Where's my front page, you cunts?
  6. We currently have some Salter carbon steel ones - large and small frying pans and a wok. They're pretty good, especially as we paid less than £50 for the set. They're holding up pretty well but I'm after a medium non-stick one just for the variety and for the odd thing, IE eggs, that are tricky to cook in the carbon steel. At some point I'll probably invest in some proper cast iron but hopefully these last a few more years
  7. A fairly trivial foody thing, but whilst I'm off sick from work I've tasked myself with streamlining our kitchen utensils and gadgets. Over the years, from multiple homes and house-shares, etc, we've accumulated far too many useless or cheap things and multiple tools to do the same task. For example, a modest purchase of a good microplane grater has replaced half a dozen poorer quality items in the drawer, some decent wooden spoons have replaced all the shitty plastic ones. A simple but immensely satisfying task that means I enjoy cooking more. Next, ditching the fondue kit, and other gadgets that we've been bought over the years. Can anyone recommend a good non-stick, non-toxic frying pan? I've been looking at the GreenPan ones but have never used them. Oh and I made my first sourdough loaf yesterday since the little one arrived two years ago - I finally have a slither of time for this stuff. Or I need to get back to work.
  8. @Babb'sBurstNad - I just picked up a Bart's Tenkan in blue corduroy for half price. It looks like a superb autumn/spring cap.
  9. It has a red and white poster and is therefore shite. I actually watched it once and now it's on the list of Christmas films I will never watch again.
  10. Whereas that all looks pretty standard to me!
  11. There was a fourfourtwo video earlier in the week suggesting that both the short and long term option to replace Salah could be Szoboszlai with Elliott taking Dom's place in midfield. The way the current system works has Dom and Mo interchanging a fair bit anyway so that makes sense and it may see us get more out of Dom's naturally explosive abilities in the final third. It seems sounds logic to me but I'd want another substantial signing in one of those two positions if this is the plan, or a "6" so that Mac can play further forward. The one thing the video did highlight was that whilst Mo is obviously a superstar, the nature of the system does mean that there is a lot of overlap in individual roles which should make it easier - but by no means easy - to replace him, even if not like-for-like. However, I hope he's here for another 2-3 years and we invest in the next world class player to rotate with Dom, Harvey, etc but that wouldn't be my January priority. I'd be doing the obvious and frequently mentioned thing of buying Matip's replacement, if possible. It's an absolute no-brainer that we need someone there in the long-term and making that signing in January would be a huge boost. Priorities, for me, Clive: 1) Left-sided centre back. 2) A "6" 3) A right sided "8" or Mo's long term replacement. 4) Snoogy Doogy
  12. I always think "shit superheroes" would be a good sketch show idea. You don't go straight to Prof X and Magneto, you have the first step in their evolution. I'd like to see a man who can read the minds of all men called Keith that drive black cabs in London or someone that has telekinetic powers but they only work to activate the office printer from within 3 metres. As for my own superpowers, I'm clumsy but also have quick reactions (thank you baseball training) so I'm brilliant at knocking stuff off the kitchen counter and catching it before it hits the floor.
  13. People parking cars on pavements when it's completely unnecessary, thus hindering anyone who might want to, outrageously, walk on the pavement. It's absolutely endemic and even occuring outside our daughter's nursery; I appear to be the only person who walks to the place. It's fine though because it's not like I need room for a pram, or to also walk the dog, or to get in to the grounds safely. Selfish pricks. I'm genuinely thinking of getting some "paths are for people" stickers made up to start sticking on windscreens.
  14. The wife bought me some handmade ramen bowls from Japan, they're a thing of beauty. Other than those it was a lovely selection of LPs, socks, chocolates and smellies.
  15. We get it Section, you don't like modern dog owners; we're not all like that though, honest!
  16. The boy wonder got a new coat for Christmas. He's also started being a complete shouty knobhead in the car, so he's in bad books.
  17. A decent size - about 7m x 45m and another 7m x 5m in the front. Half of the back garden is a veg plot though, with a greenhouse, so requires a lot of watering in the summer. The "leisure" bit of the garden is very low maintenance and we've intentionally designed and planted it to be drought and flood resilient, so it doesn't need much water at all other than a few pots.
  18. We have four, three 110l capacity ones in the veg patch and a 220l attached to the house. I plan on adding three more this year, which should see us through at least two weeks of garden watering if/when we get a drought.
  19. The Double R Diner from Twin Peaks, which is in reality in a town called North Bend, Washington. It was the damn fine coffee and cherry pie that made me do it.
  20. Obviously. It took 3 hours to boil the kettle for half a dozen cups of tea.
