  1. I’m not sure there’s a plethora of candidates that fit your criteria Kev. Alonso one day? Maybe, maybe not. Most of us are struggling to come up with suggestions, I know I am. I’ve kept quiet because there isn’t anyone out there I can see as streets ahead of everyone else. I was all in on Alonso but once he ruled us out, I couldn’t say who I wanted. I could say for certain who I didn’t want (Mourinho, Tuchel etc).
  2. They’re undoubtedly a bunch of entitled cunts, but I’m not sure any of the managers they’ve appointed since Ferguson left would have gone on and achieved anything if they’d been given more time.
  3. The major problem the Mancs have had is that they have appointed managers totally unsuited to the demands of the fans to play in an exciting front foot way, then signed crap players for lots of money and given those players megabucks so they can't get rid of them.
  4. I said when the Mancs appointed Heisenberg that I would be wary of Dutch managers as they are very rooted to a specific way of playing and don't deviate from it. This is why Ten Hag has done most of his transfer business in the Eredivisie because he wants players who can immediately fit into his system and style of play, and he's even made a pigs ear of that. Hopefully the fella we're targeting is the exception to the rule.
  5. Impressive speech here, delivered in perfect English.
  6. I doubt he'll be fit, he was knocked out cold on Sunday and had to be stretchered off. I'm sure the concussion protocols mean a player can't play again for a week if they're out cold.
  7. Interesting article on fixture congestion from Opta.
  8. I’d like to see the figures on how many times the refs have been sent to look at the monitor this season. I bet those figures are well down on previous seasons? When was the last time it happened in one of our games? Was it Spurs away when we got shafted with the Curtis Jones red card when they showed a still of his studs hitting the other player’s leg? The lack of being sent to the monitor tells me that they’ve agreed between them not to do it unless absolutely necessary. Every week I watch Match Of The Day and am amazed at the penalties that aren’t given, and no referral to the monitor.
  9. He’s very good at carrying the ball forward, needs to work on his decision making though.
  10. The VAR officials need to be completely separate from the PGMOL officials and have their own boss that they are answerable to. This situation of the referees having their mates on VAR is ridiculous and is leading to mates covering each other’s backs. If a VAR official thinks a mistake has been made, they need to speak up and tell the referee “you need to have another look at that”. The very idea that Michael Oliver is arrogant enough to tell his PGMOL colleagues not to send him to the monitor is preposterous. If they are sent to the monitor and don’t change their original decision, that’s fine as long as they feel they can justify it.
  11. That picture is from the cup semifinal they had against us in 2022.
  12. A refresh for you Barry, and to get everyone in the mood.
  13. Alisson was brilliant early on as well, but he's just missed too many games to be in with a shout for our player of the year.
  14. I'd say he's been our player of the year. I think a fair few of us worried that we'd seen the best of him after last season, but he's mostly been back to his best this season and has led the team brilliantly. Anyone calling him out now is surely just venting out of frustration at the team's current form and results.
  15. Klopp referred to Tony in his press conference the other day when he was asked about the flag protest at the Atalanta match. He said in a response to a journalist that he had just heard about it from Tony before the press conference. Barrett must act as a press advisor for Klopp briefing him on what he's likely to be asked about before the press conferences and ensuring he's informed on the latest goings on.
  16. Goldbridge absolutely nails the cheats here:
  17. I reckon that Branthwaite just didn’t fancy getting the runaround anymore, rather than he was injured. He’s had a torrid night. I think Everton might have to forget that £80m they’re all banking on.
  18. State of this. The People's Forum [ Post a Response | The People's Forum ] Klopp doing his best to retain his reputation as a bottler Posted by aje on April 14, 2024, 4:30 pm, in reply to "At this rate, it'll be Weißwurst and a Luke warm Brezel in Klopp's living room. nt." I believe that when he arrived at Liverpool he was famous for losing finals Yes he had two Bundasliga's with Dortmund, but he lost the Champions League final that he took them to. At Liverpool he's won a champions league (against Tottenham !) and lost one. He's won 1 league title across his 9 seasons there. And that was the pandemic freak show. In his first season he got to two cup finals and lost them both. 2022 they pick up domestic cup double, but is that really a good return given the quality they've had over such a long period of time? If they win the league this season it means Klopp goes ahead of legendary PL managers such as Pellegrini, Mancini and Raniera. If they don't, he's at their level, albeit with a couple of cup wins. About par with Ancelotti (in England only). But he's a bottler. For all the "Everton that" narrative don't forget: - Liverpool 1989 only need to lose by 1 goal, they lose 2-0 - 2014 they are 3-0 up against Palace and go for goal difference, end up drawing Yes they've had comebacks of their own, and trophies. I thought to myself losing finals is part and parcel of winning them, and I'd much rather get to many and win a few than the alternative. But his legacy is underwhelming when judged on winning things Liverpool bottle it When it matters, we win 3-2 vs Wimbledon 3-2 vs Palace 1-0 vs Bournemouth We're shit but we don't got down. That's Everton. "Everton that" means surviving. "Liverpool that" means everyone blowing smoke up your arse but you don't actually win much
  19. These young Scando lads are some prospects. Hovland is probably the best of them and he’s had a piss poor tournament. Apparently Højgaard has a twin brother who is equally as talented as well. Looks like the Ryder Cup could be in good hands.
