    Rise of the Foot Soldier

Dear God, please make it stop, no more 'true' stories written by some Mockney hooligan from the 70s/80s. One saving grace - there's no Danny Dyer.

The UK has tighter copyright laws than the US so why don't we prosecute rather than give in to deportation requests? Same with Megaupload, if breaking the law why didn't NZ authorities act?
  4. Should have been underway in the 80s.

I was watching a bit of Rising Damp yesterday, and whilst I understand it's a product of its time I'm surprised the PC brigade don't get on at ITV. There must be a point where Love Thy Neighbour isn't acceptable but Rising Damp is. I'm guessing Alf Garnett is also now only to be seen on dvd.

It's not Sherlock's most popular story without good reason and it didn't transfer well from gothic to scientific. I'm not sure The Sign of Four would be a wise story to tackle either. Last was just a bit Scooby Doo. Surprised Gatiss didn't take the gothic chiller route as he's a big horror aficionado, but last night's was a bit (eek) Torchwoodesque.

    Hates racism, loves homophobia.

Great return last night, 90 minutes just flew by. Deliciously kinky subplot...

    Top Gear

It's much of it, how a winch pulls of the wings and bonnet I've no idea as it should probably be attached to the subframe.

    Top Gear

It's become too clumsily staged and forced as they crash into each other and pretend it's an accident.

    Pearl Jam

You have my commiserations. One of the wankest bands ever.

    This Is England '88

It seems more mid 80s than 88 to me, sure by this time the Monday's, Roses and house music were kicking off and The Smiths had folded.

    Tuesday 31st May - Panorama.

Some certainly deserve an assault conviction, hopefully crb's will keep them out of care. Sad thing is I bet this is still taking place elsewhere.

Cameron: "Cuts will change our way of life"

Surely you mean the gags provided to them?

    This Is England '88

That scene really did show that some of the cast have shortcomings as actors.

    This Is England '88

Tricky territory as if there's no punch to the story it's a bit Alan Clarke-lite, and whilst Meadows captures the appearance of the 80s he misses much of the social realism, making a bit of a retro soap like an old episode of Brookie.

Games you played as a kid?

Blocky 123, you guard a base and have to find others without them reaching it. Those caught then join you.

Prefer their more stripped back early tunes, now it's just big chorus (he does have a knack for good hooks) and grandiose sound - probably Eno's prog rock influence.

    General election time

The televised debates contributed to that at the last election, they were a right shot in the arm for Clegg. It's almost like X Factor with snapshot post-show popularity polls.

Can't entirely blame them for being disenfranchised and thinking all politicians are liars (unless you're a LD, who aren't lying power-hungry opportunists but superheroes compromising for the good of the nation). Most of the younger ones have probably never worked and see politics as a post-uni career; more concerned with climbing the ladder than public service. You're on about a group of people who are about as popular as bankers, tabloids and the police.

Trouble is it's not the Labour faithful Ed must reach out to be the centrist floating voter. The whole rejection of New Labour makes me chuckle and I think it'll lead to Labour being marginilised to a few strongholds. They'll get fucked at the elections then there'll be another spell of acrimony and introspection.

    Leona Fucking Lewis

The likes of Reznor and last year Biffy give Cowell's record company the green light for these covers, so hard to single him out. Lewis' career has stiffed so she's fallen back on singing alt covers (she's covered Iris too) - probably because she's had a personality by-pass. Next will probably be Matt Cardle doing Where Is My Mind? (tho I like the cover used in the Thomson ad)

He strikes me as a polemicist interested in global politics - but not for the poor in small communities. Ed will have one run at the election and I expect him to do no better than Brown. Despite all Cameron's woes Milliband is like a teddy bear trying to land political blows, apart from Coulsen he's not made much impact as an opposition leader.

Bit like asking if you want your dick bitten off by a pitbull or doberman; none of them enthuse me and I trust no party.
