What have they lied about
We can compete with anyone for any player.
-
If they do sell Bale, they'll pay through the nose for anybody they want. I can't see, say, the mancs selling Rooney to them for less than 60-70 million. I'm not saying he's worth that but that's what they'll demand.
They'll have to replace Bale's goals and presence with someone - Soldado may or may not be the one - and that's going to cost.
Sometimes the best thing to do is to do nothing.
Soldado will replace Bale's goals. They'll be stronger without him I think as the money is ridiculous and they are buying top players like Soldado.

It seems Gerrard agrees with me that we shouldn't sell Suarez to an English club no matter what they offer, and we need at least 2 very good starting players.
-
You sure that is not the total knocked off by outgoing players before adding in the salaries of incoming and raises for established players.
Here's the article How Liverpool have cut HALF A MILLION from their weekly wage bill - Liverpool FC This Is Anfield - Liverpool FC This Is Anfield
-
Half a million a week is how much we've cunt the wage bill by. £500,000 a week. Be good if it was reinvested into improving the team.
Be good if the £35,000,000 for the new TV deal was invested into the team, too.
-
Like that Couthino lad. £8,000,000? He looks shite. No other top clubs wanted him so it's obvious he was going to be crap.
Coutinho had played plenty of games at the highest level. He's played CL, La Liga football and Serie A football.
-
Diego Costa from Atletico. Doesn't seem like a 25m euro player to me. Apparently the source is really dodgy.
-
Gerrard: " Keeping Luis could be our best signing of the summer.”
-
You mentioned the wagebill, I was explaining why I wanted it trimmed. I'm also saying we need to learn our lessons about spending money on players who aren't good enough.
Get rid of their 100 grand and give it to a top player.
We've cut half a million a week off the wage bill.

Stevie on Suarez going to Arsenal: "From the club's point of view it doesn't make sense at all no matter how much money is put on the table."
-
Rodgers saying Gerrard is our most important summer signing.
Gerrard: "If we get the couple of marquee signings we need and keep Luis that will give me confidence that we can compete
-
The scouts can find all the players they want. Rodgers can like the players, too. That doesn't mean that FSG will sign them. Or that Ayre won't fuck it up.
-
I think we definitely will. Going into the season on the back of losing your best player is pretty hard to dress up and noble letters from Henry about how much he aches are unlikely to work again.
That said, if we don't, there will be excuses. Some really good ones, too. I bet that someone will seriously try to claim now we've been playing under Rodgers for a year and the players fully understand their roles, that the system is like a brand new £50m signing.
Haha. The revolutionary system that our footballers have never even seen anything like before.
-
Who would you sign if you were in Rodgers' seat, Paul?
I'd try to get players like Draxler and Shaqiri. Schalke might not want to sell Draxler for anything other than massive money, but Shaqiri is a sub at Bayern who seems to be well down the pecking order. Munain could be another one we could get. Sakho seems to be gonna be sub for PSG, too, but not sure him and Agger can play together.
I don't watch as much European football as I used to.
-
And they don't have to be big names to be class players.
-
They need to be better than what we've got, reasonably priced (Carroll was better than N'Gog, just about, but you wouldn't advocate spending £35m on him with the benefit of hindsight) and willing to come. Bear in mind a lot of the players we're looking to upgrade on cost about £15-20m themselves.
If signing quality players was that easy, Man Utd and Arsenal wouldn't have spent fuck all so far, despite having transfer budgets much larger than ours.
They are far better teams than us so will find it harder to find players to improve them.
-
We can definitely find players who are better than what we have. We were the 7th best team in the league last season ffs.
-
You could put them in a 3-4-3. (I say it like it's alien because I doubt we'd ever try it.)
----------------Soldado-----Sturridge-----Aspas
--------------------------------Luis
---------------------Coutinho-------Stevie
-------------------------------Lucas
------------------Toure-------Agger------Kelly
Was thinking about how we'd play attacking-wise in a couple of formations earlier that's all as I was wondering how Suso would've fit in if he'd stayed. Clearly not ideal to put Luis there but his potential to create for others could work really well. Obviously he'd be better in the front 3 though, in this case I'd prefer one of the front 3 listed here on the bench and Suso (if he'd stayed.) where Luis is.
That will never ever happen. Soldado can't play anywhere but the main striker role either.
-
Crouch won every header if the ball was right. He just wasn't a brilliant header of the ball.
-
Ayala was good in the air, too. Gamarra of Paraguay as well. They weren't big compare to other centre backs.

I've no problem getting rid of players like Cole who don't deserve their wages.
I want them reinvested in players who are good players, not just kept in the bank.
