  1. Download skyfire or another 'flash-enabled' browser. That way you can watch the flash streams. I don't think there's a sopcast app per se but if there is I'm up for it!
  2. That'll probably be the shitty little chat box on the screen. You can mute it easily.
  3. Don't think it's quite the same here. If you're self employed but working for one company, the taxman thinks you should be employed by them. A business can have only one client though.
  4. Is it possible to do a backup to the Box whereby it only updates the files/folders that have changed though? Like rsync. Crashplan seems to have that feature. Or is rsync software that I need to install? Bit green in this aspect, sorry!
  5. Well clearly the sea shanty genre is doing well, but it's killing rock and pop.
  6. Anyone use it? Any better alternatives? I'm basically looking to backup off-site to a PC and this looks like the easiest way at the moment, using the 'backup to a friend' feature. Mainly because I don't know how to set that up properly!
  7. My mate is currently recovering from a shattered tib and fib (broken in 22 places) and my father in law did it last year. Basically you have to be very patient and keep the leg above the heart for a very long time. At 5 months my father in law was jogging again and has had no real trouble with it. Both of them had the pins and needles thing and it goes eventually. The worst thing is that the first stage of the recovery is very long and very slow, but then you're up and about pretty quick after that. Once the cast comes off and you're in the boot you think that it'll be no time, but you're in that fucker for a long stretch.
  8. Both very true. A Windows machine for a basic user will, at some point, slow down and eventually grind to a halt. You can mock Mac users for wasting their money but they're buying something that won't let them down. There's a very good argument for Linux but it's a confusing world to get into and Linux forums are full of particularly unhelpful people trying to out-geek each other. One of my real gripes is printer software. They should be banned from suggesting people install their full software package (including a handy 'shop' to buy new cartridges from) and just provide a disc with the drivers.
  9. Fridge magnet > iPad. I have won neither.
  10. And posting to Twitter and Facebook direct from notification centre (also all facebook contacts and events synced to phone if you'd want that), Panoramic photos, LED flash when you receive a text/call... that's about all I can think of. Oh, and a lovely blue tint at the top of the screen when you've got Apple apps open. That's worth the update alone!!
  11. It's seriously fucking useful for me. Got so many colleagues in various countries that can't seem to work a computer and the ability to connect instantly to their PC's is invaluable to me. That's from the tech support side... but realistically, your ISP should have used a different method to connect and not asked you to install anything. I'm guessing that he thought you were a hopeless case! Anyway, once it's uninstalled you've got nothing to worry about.
  12. Mine is the mid-2007 imac with only 2gb RAM and to be fair to it, the fucker is still running beautifully. Not that I really trouble it too much, just a bit of video editing and Garageband really. And the porn. All the porn. CCleaner is now available in Mac App store and it's as good as anything else out there for clearing up the hard drive. Apart from keeping an eye on disc space I've never really had to bother with anything else. Repairing Disk Permissions helps every now and again of course. In our studio we've got a 27" iMac and upgraded to 8gb RAM recently. It's brutal. It's only ever crashed once since and that's because we were trying our hardest to make it happen!
  13. The above is factual. Why do you want more? 4gb should be plenty.
  14. "Since the beginning of recorded history, which is defined by the invention of writing by the Sumerians about 6000 years ago, historians have catalogued over 3700 supernatural beings, of which 2870 can be considered deities. So next time someone tells me they believe in God, I’ll say “Oh which one? Zeus? Hades? Jupiter? Mars? Odin? Thor? Krishna? Vishnu? Ra?…” If they say “Just God. I only believe in the one God,” I’ll point out that they are nearly as atheistic as me. I don’t believe in 2,870 gods, and they don’t believe in 2,869."
  15. Installed without any problems over Lion. I like it... some good tips here including setting the new notifications bit to the top-right hot corner which is handy. Also, putting your own background behind notifications and launchpad. Some Mountain Lion Tips and Tricks | 9to5Mac | Apple Intelligence
  16. Used a Sony Xperia a fair bit a little while ago. Not bad, wonderful camera, but not a patch on the Apple product. But yeah... you're kinda fucked with regards changing early. The advice to sell the S2 and buy out your contract or buy an iPhone is the best you'll get. How long left?
