  1. I just finished "Never" by Ken Follett, I was a big fan of his older spy novels like Eye of the Needle but this one is dreadful. It was a recommendation from Stephen King on Twitter, the last 150 or so pages are okay and there is a section set in North Africa which is okay too but mostly 800 pages of embarrassment.

  2. From Twitter today, Klopp nails it again.
"Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool women: "Congratulations! I sent messages. I was really happy, following the results all the time. I'm really happy for the girls & for Matt [Beard]. I met a lot of the girls in the last two or three months. It's really nice, a wonderful team."
"It's a big thing. Obviously Liverpool in the last years was not famous for treating or dealing with women's football outstandingly well... But now they are back we have to make sure we use the situation.

    From near the Tickled Trout?

Bet that put up a decent fight and you cant beat a bit of fresh trout!

A really strong fish, fought for about 10 minutes - someone introduced crayfish into a particular section of the river so the fish have grown big and fat feasting on these. I live right beside Lough Corrib in the west of Ireland which is one of the best around for trout fishing but I always prefer the river.

  4. "Blinded by the light" on BBC4 last week, I loved it. Obviously I'm biased being a big Springsteen fan and exactly the same age as the main guy. I also spent a couple of weeks in Luton in 1980 at a family wedding and heard the P word for the first time. As I came from a very sheltered rural Ireland area, it was scary to see some of the racism, especially from my cousins family.

The 80s were a bit shit and Thatcher was to blame for so much.
