  1. I bet there is a meltdown on BlueKipper. #ifithadntbeenfercollina
  2. That Rossiter is top drawer. 15 years old. Feck me.
  3. First of all I think Ferguson got lucky in early days when he could have been sacked and the media pundits attribute the change around to the signing of Cantona. For me it was a load of kids all coming through within a few years of each other who all went on to be internationals. We may scoff at some of them but if you have a group of young hungry players who have all played together for years then it is a massive help. Not all came through at the same time but all within a few years; Lee Sharpe, Giggs, Scholes, Butt, Beckham, the Neville's. Since then it has been an absolute desire not too lose and complete adherence to the philosophy by the players. In the last few seasons I think he has just decided to outgun everybody given that most teams expect to lose and most refs make sure the 50/50 calls go their way. On another thread somebody mentioning the football focus interview at the weekend and it was the ultimate example of a modern day so called "journalist". I don't why Dan Walker didn't start with "you had me at hello". Not a master tactician IMO as he gets found out in Europe against better players and teams/referees who refuse to bow down to his psychological games. Teams also have the technical ability to make sure Utd don't get as much time and space around the box when attacking and are also able to punish Utd weaker area I.e. defence.
  4. Been ill all week and this thread has been a real pick me up. My mums 65th birthday party was a few years ago a few weeks after the BS beat us 3-0 (Andy Johnson hat-trick). My mums family are rabid blues like many as described on here and I hadn't seen many of them for years as I lived overseas for quite a few years. As I walked through the door three of them literally ran across the dance floor gesticulating madly and screaming about how they played the red shite off the park. I just turned away and said I was getting a drink in and then they could continue to have a go but once I had been served. They followed right behind me to the bar continuing to give it loads. One or two of the older bloos (decent fellas tbh) looked embarrassed. I have made it a principle to turn down every invite since then to weddings etc. When me nan was alive there was a knock at the front door late one Saturday night and her own sister launched herself through the door screaming and scratching my nans face to bits. Her crime was "insulting her dead father by saying Liverpool were better than Everton". We literally had to drag this fat old bitter off my nan and eject her out the front gate all the time while her husband (horrible bitter blue) did nothing.
  5. In a word; no. VGA is analogue and hdmi is digital. See this thread for more detailed explanation; http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/archive/index.php/t-546212.html You can buy a converter box but expensive.
  6. Fixed in latest release. Now working in landscape on iPad. About time.
  7. Tried that app the other week on iPad and can confirm it is a bag of shite
  8. Only works in portrait on iPad since last update.
  9. Skyfall 8/10 - good blend of action, innuendo and self deprecating humour. Javier Bardem top draw as slightly camp baddie To Rome With Love 6.5/10 - a few laughs but not a patch on the excellent Midnight In Paris although Woody Allen casts Penélope Cruz again but still not as good as Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
  10. I am with BT on their Infinity2 package. Unlimited downloads. Obviously your speed depends how far you are from the cabinet and if you have got aluminium cable rather than copper cable but service is reliable. Also BT Care are on twitter, if necessary you can raise a support case with them and get excellent service from the lads and lasses who are based in Northern Ireland. Cheers
  11. Pretty much agree with all of that Dave. Couple of points; thought Gerrard was ok but he still put in far bigger shift for both of the last England games. Looks to me that he hasnt quite bought in to the BR philosphy yet. Borini - early days yet and we have to give him time but reminds me of Dirk without the canny knack of popping up with a goal! Plenty of energy and plenty of misplaced passes. Not saying Downing is any better but we looked better balanced when he came on.
  12. Great report Dave. Thanks for succinctly summarising the whole farcical situation as a result of Evra lies. You may not have seen it but Whisky Nose afterwards was saying something along the lines that they were the best team, more possession etc. To be honest no problem with that opinion but then he went on say something about the referee didn't give us much. Put down the feckin bottle you old soak you got nothing because there was fuck all to give! For me what was really pleasing was that we did to Utd what they have done to others over the years, that is; play average and still have enough to get nous and desire to get a win. Very very pleasing. If Utd had done that to us the media would be praising Utd to the hilt, professional performance etc. however as it was us they focused on the booing. Shows the standards of journalism in this country I'm afraid and there are virtually no exceptions. Well done to Kenny and the players for strength of character after last weekends debacle and well done to the fans for the solidarity shown. YNWA
  13. Thanks Dave I think it was really important that KK came out strongly at the end of the game. To me this is the first real test of his leadership. Last season when he came back was largely excellent and this season again we have mostly been very good despite the poor finishing costing us goals and therefore points. Like Dave appears to, I have given Up on Carroll and it is no coincidence that our worst run of he season has come when Suarez has been suspended. In that time we have won 3 but only 1 in the league (Newcastle) and 1 in each of the cups. We have drew 1 against Stoke and lost 2 league games (Citeh and Bolton). As well those results we have seen a drop of in the last few weeks with performances that can best be described as patchy and at worst, disgraceful. It seems to me that what has dropped off has been the tempo we play at and we have become predictable again. With Suarez in the side you are forced to play at a higher tempo simply to keep up with his work rate and obviously defenders get less time to think and organise due to his energy and guile. On Saturday whilst we were bad we saw the value of a holding midfielder to the team in protecting the back four but in recent weeks the back five (inc Pepe) have fallen from their high standards as we have made it easy for teams to score against us (Citeh and Bolton). None if their goals were screamers or fine team moves. To be fair to Pepe on Saturday you couldn't blame him and his distribution was first class, it is not his fault we butchered two or three opportunities that came our way. Similarly Gerrard, although not at his best, showed glimpses of what he can do with several top drawer passes. If you noticed with about 20 minutes to go Gerrard picked the ball up in midfield and tried a one two with Carroll who predictably messed up the three yard return pass. Gerrard stopped and slowly walked back which to me was a sign that the players know the game is up with Carroll and don't rate him. Usually once that happens there is no way back for a player. As Dave said Bellamy as usual was class. So for me, a test of leadership, a drop in form but not terminal considering where we were 12 months ago. Rebuilding was always going to be a gradual job, you can't just turn over 10 or so players and expect it to click. Look at the plays who have left; Babbel, Torres, Konchesky, Mavinga, Ince, Jovanovic, Ayala, El Zhar, Kyrigakos, Insua, Poulsen, Meireles, Ngog and Degen. Players who have come in; Suarez, Carroll, Henderson, Adam, Doni, downing, Enrique, Coates and Bellamy. If you include the players who have come through the ranks and have been given more of a chance then there is no doubt we are a stronger team. Stronger but not complete and I am sure that KK knows that also. We are right to be disappointed and expect more from a team that plays in Red but the key is in the word supporter. Have faith.
  14. Geeks I know there must be an answer out there... I am using iPad and would like a twitter client or third party app which notifies me of updates to the timeline so I don't have to keep switching between apps. I thought echofon would do this but doesn't seem to. I have seen an app called ultimate notifier which I think meets my requirements. Any other solutions or ideas? Cheers
  15. Strong stuff Dave but I agree with every word. You cant miss chances and concede soft goals without paying the price. I can accept losing if the other teams plays you off the park and create the goals but City didnt do either. I nearly kicked the telly when Downing kept running at full speed up to the full backs then stopping and turning back to give it to a supporting fullback or midfielder. Modern football is all about pace and therefore Carroll will struggle unless we get the correct service but wide player who is prepared to drop his shoulder and go past a full back. However we cannot rely on only one option and last night we had no creativity or other option which means to me that Dirk, sorry mate your time is up. We need Bellamy's pace in behind which gives the central pair something to think about. Kompany looked good because everything was in front of him.
  16. We didn't play that and against a very good and well organised side. What will piss off Kenny and co is that we didn't make Citeh work for their goals. If Silva had danced passed a couple and slotted or hit one from 25 yards then sometimes you have to hold your hand up. Tonight we made it too easy for Citeh at both ends.
  17. This is brilliant especially afterthe 3rd ! (around 2:20 in) Uruguay vs Chile 4-0 All Goals and full highlights Luis SUAREZ !!!!! - YouTube
  18. Same old as far as this season goes. One mistake we get punished and we miss good chances and opposition keeper pulls out a few good saves including one top drawer save. We have played better than them and to be fair we bossed most of the half. Carroll looks sharp.
  19. Good report Dave. Carroll for me is a real worry. Cant be arsed is an understatement. Fair play it didnt make sense that he was stuck out wide in the midfield but throwing his arms in the air (a la Balotelli) if the ball is not knocked in to his feet is not doing him any favours. Watching Chelsea, Torres may be a judas and not the player he once was but he still put a shift in. To me if we are playing away we need more bite in midfield and Adam could easily be replaced by Spearing. Last week we should have won but a combination of events transpired against us but this week there are no excuses so lets keep it in to perspective. One bad performnace all season. Other games some good parts, some bad parts. I think Dalglish mentioned in his interview about the speed at which we moved the ball which not only was highlighted by Spurs but even more when watching Utd and Chelsea later on. Tempo and speed is everything in the modern game and that is what we need to address.
  20. Back 5 (inc Reina) were top drawer. Kelly and Enrique both did excellent bombing on. I like Adam I think he is always trying to move the ball forward in to attacking positions. Lucas grew in to the game more and more. Downing shows glimpses but I would love him to hug the touchline more. Henderson, I disagree with the previous poster, for me he needs to work harder. His quality in the final third was abysmal as if he didnt know what he had to do with it. Dirk, well he was Dirk. Gave away the ball a lot and worked hard. In fact the whole midfield gave the ball away too much for my liking and alot of it was when weren't under pressure. I thought Carroll worked hard and was ok given the service he got again. The game changed when we injected more energy and we saw Raul busting a gut to get in the box. To be fair to Carroll if he had a midfielder bursting in to the box to help him then he would have looked a lot better. Luis is still top drawer though and if we play 1 up front them it has to be Luis. Cant help feeling that we are eaasing our way in to the season and there will be a lot more to come.
  21. Best goal I have ever seen at Anfield.
  22. Agree with all of that apart from last sentence. He does make them more secure at the back unless thay are playing us! What gets me is the numberof times that teams put out weakened sides and are happy top get beat 2 or 3 nil.
