Thank you for a reasonable response. For what it's worth... I despise this government. But then, I despise politicians of all colours so I can't be accused of being partisan. They all have and continue to ruin this country. You (and others) and I may differ as to why we think they're ruining the country but we're not on vastly different pages. I have no faith or confidence in any of the public services or in the Civil Service. The education system is broken and the media have been bought. The country is broken and its either through decades of criminal incompetence or deliberate policy. I dislike our choice of national anthem and have always thought other songs or hymns would be more appropriate. I don't see it as any form of 'homage' to the monarchy but as the song which marks out our country. Just as any other national anthem does. That so many people agree with booing it is a symptom of the national self-loathing that has permeated the minds of the activist progressive Left in this country. Those Left hate this country and you see the same thing with the Left in the USA. As we live in a free country, anyone is free to boo who they like. That doesn't make such booing not low or classless because, in a free country, you can be low and classless. The irony is, the socialist utopia that the Left crave would imprison you for booing the National Anthem. This is abundantly evident by how the Left cancel anyone who doesn't agree with them.

Time for one of my tri-annual posts... Booing the National Anthem is low and classless. It's on the same par as the moronic England fans who boo the anthems of other nations. It's interesting to watch and read the bunker mentality of people when it's their own moronic behaviour which invites the shots against them in the first place and who then claim that everyone is against them. Cue the leftie abuse that will call me a 'Daily Mail reader' or something else just as intelligent...

We do know that we are free to make our own decisions and not have them made for us by unelected bureaucrats who no public voted in or can vote out I think Boris ballsed up the Withdrawal Agreement by setting up a notional border in the Irish Sea. That seemed weak to me although it seems they *may* be making efforts to undo that. Even so, it will take a small number of years for the after-effects of Brexit to settle down. Once they do I have no doubt that trade will be as easy as ever it was because, crucially, easy trade benefits both sides. The EU is a busted flush and will soon be history. It's their own fault because they got power greedy and acted in the best interests of politics and politicians rather than of people.

Made me chuckle..! My twopenneth - if this virus was as deadly to all as, I dunno, ebola, then a lockdown would be justified. Given some scientists think that 70% of the infected never know they have it and that your chances of hospitalisation or worse, dying from it, are very very small, I think placing onerous restrictions on the lives of everyone is the wrong policy. In my view the weak and vulnerable should have been shielded while everyone else got on with their lives but used sensible and proportionate precautions (such as those dirty bastards who don't wash their hands after using the bog learning to wash their hands more frequently). The herd immunity sounded the right way to me. Instead we now have a shattered economy. Haven't read any of this thread and I don't intend to - I just dipped in for the first time for a long time.

I have however noticed far more of your posts that aggressively insult others' opinions. I didn't defend it - read my post again carefully. I refuted it. For reasons of commercial sensitivity, sometimes a lack of transparency is necessary. That is a principle throughout the whole world of business. Check some of the many hundreds of posts in this thread, count how many times those words are thrown around and you'll see I was proved right. So, why do you now give a fuck when previously you didn't? Please take a deep breath or two before posting - it'll help you compose yourself.

You need to look at many of your own posts about what you would do to and wish for other people. You then need to look up the definition of the word 'irony'. While you're there, look up the words 'bogey' and 'snot' so you can finally realise what that stuff is encrusted over your fingertips.

I take your point about the conclusion to a point (if you know what I mean..?!) Beyond that point I would say that the 'deal', 'arrangement', 'assurances' - whatever someone wanted to call it - would have to be massively impactive on the public purse or on government policy for the good side of the announcement to be outweighed by the bad or to even come close to outweighing it. By that I mean on the one hand we have thousands of jobs secured with new ones being created plus new ones for support and supply industries plus millions of pounds worth of new exports in addition to the many many millions of pounds worth of current Nissan exports. On the other hand and taking a possible 'bad' scenario, the government has promised millions of pounds to Nissan - delivered by lawful means one would surely assume - to stay in the UK and those millions were not recouped from UK tariffs (can't think why not but just for the sake of argument) so were simply a cost to the taxpayer. Even if the above were true, why would it be bad? Pretty much everyone on here slates the Tories from the 80s for not supporting industries that later went to the wall. Well, here we have a Tory government taking action to stop an industry from leaving the UK. No matter how much someone hates the Tories, surely that person should be pleased to see government acting to protect and secure British industry and British jobs? I don't get why those who criticise the lack of government action 3 decades ago criticise this government action just because they're not privvy to the fine detail - IF there is any.
