Seriously? The club has made two of the worst managerial appointments in our lifetime during FSGs ownership. Klopp was one of the best, if not second best, in our history but he was an absolute no brainer.

Sounds fucking bleak. We've near enough begged Edwards to come back, must have been given some massive promises. Horrible thought.

But gutted it seems almost certain now that Xabi is not coming here, I genuinely think he was our best chance at continuing momentum from Klopp. A tall order for anyone of course, but we're done once Jürgen leaves, which I always thought would be the case but then Xabi appeared on the scene and looked ideal. Oh well.

They'll be hoping to luck out for sure. Anyone would of course, but we won't suddenly start spending so they'll need someone a bit unknown and hope they've unearthed a miracle worker. Amomrin then? (if Xabi stays at Leverkusen and Bayern don't get in there first).

I still think Xabi will move this summer, just not to us.

We didn't capitulate. We took our foot off every time we had it on their neck and literally gifted them their goals. We handed it to them, effectively we weren't even trying.

I do understand why people are pissed off today but I just can't bring myself to feel strongly about this defeat. I feel much more annoyed over the choice of starting 11. Seriously, if you offered me a 75% (vs 0%) chance of winning the FA Cup this season, or a 33% (vs 32%) chance of winning the league I'd take the latter. Fine margins and all that.

I agree, I said Jürgen picked the wrong team today, imo.

Next year? What about the matches coming up this year? We're about to go into the most important set of fixtures in many a season and if losing today, against them lot and in the manner we did, gives us even half a percent more chance of winning the league I would take it every single time.

Jürgen is virtually perfect in my eyes and we certainly haven't had anyone more perfect manage us in a very very long time. But he picked the wrong team today. Hopefully there will be a positive comes out of that and it will galvanise those players.

I think it will do the opposite. It's not like we've lost in heartbreaking fashion and heads will go down, we threw it away and every single player will be fuming with himself that he's allowed it to happen, and will be even more determined. We'll see where that takes us.

I'm just fewmin it took us 2 hours to narrowly lose with our strongest team (at the moment) when I'd have been content for us to narrowly lose with the kids over 90 minutes.

They tried to "see the game out", that was the problem. Man Utd at home absolutely desperate would not allow us to just see it out no matter how shit they are. We had to put it to bed but for whatever reason didn't have the application to do so.

Think every time we went ahead we just tried to see the match out. I don't think Klopp should have picked that team and that's on him. Should have given the kids another go and if we'd have gone out hey ho.

Just annoyed, should have played the kids and if we lost in 90 minutes so be it.

Convinced Rashford would have been offside. Both teams stopped playing and we thought we had it won and were just playing out time, complacent. Unlike us but it's not like we make a habit of it so very forgiveable in the circumstances.

I'm definitely not convinced of this. I don't know the fella obviously but I fear he'll think he's now top dog at the club, especially as it seems like FSG have begged him to return, so he's going to do it his way cos he's cleverer than everyone else. Isn't that why he left, had a hissy fit cos Klopp overruled him? Anyway this is just my feeling, seems many others feel differently.

Meh. And if it's not Alonso, and I'm now near enough convinced it won't be, the next fella will have to get off to a really good start. I don't envy him.
