  1. What’s the modern equivalent of a 23 year old Suarez? Get him. And while we’re at it, a 23 year old Sadio equivalent would be boss too. Pace, aggression, outrageous skill and shitloads of goals, basically. That’s not too much to ask, surely?
  2. SG was one of my all time favourite forumites.
  3. Leaving politics aside, Owen Jones is a sneering, smug little cunt who absolutely fucking loves the sound of his own voice. Fuck him.
  4. The Beekeeper - absolutely laughable shite, but still Stath-tastic. 0/10 for the film itself and 10/10 for the Stathness, averaging out at 5/10 overall. American Fiction - entertaining satire on elements of racism politics in the US. 7/10 Past Lives - nice little semi-romantic thing. 7/10. Can’t remember whether I reviewed The Holdovers from a few weeks ago, but it’s ace. 8/10.
  5. These Tory cunts will deport him soon enough.
  6. You are an absolute grade one nugget as far as Darwin is concerned. And it wasn’t all morning, by the way; it was all week!!!
  7. I’m now going to start Past Crimes by Jason Pinter, an SF thing.
  8. The Book Of Doors was absolutely brilliant. It has a relatively sedate start, but once it gets going, it’s a real page turner. Highly recommended.
  9. Enjoyed Jade City without absolutely loving it. Now started one called The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown about a magic book that allows the bearer to access any door in the world from any other door.
  10. And also on the theme of missing podders, I wasn’t “heading to bed”; I was out on the piss with friends for their birthdays, in Heaton-On-Mersey, having planned the night away several months earlier and not been able/prepared to accept the, “Pod after?” shout as I was literally walking in to the ground.
  11. Yeah. They’re in the last four of the German cup too where they’re the only top flight representative left. Still going strong in Europe as well. It’s incredible what he’s doing. They’ve also lost players to AFCON and their main man up front is injured. It’s crazy that they’re where they are and is definitely not a fluke.
  12. Agree on that Xabi take, Dave. I think he really could be something very special in management. It’s like everyone thinks he’s good but also just riding a bit of a lucky wave. But when you look in detail at everything he’s done so far it almost defies belief, never mind looking to where he might end up this season: as you say, invincible in a one horse race coming from the relegation places last season and having spent fuck all. The whole thing is built on brilliant coaching, tactical planning and leadership. I think genius may well be right.
  13. Delighted to welcome Jules to the TLW Memory Club.
