I'm sure Chris is a nice bloke in real life, but fuck me who comes across as a proper knob when bitching about Darwin. So much for Not walking alone.
Aside from that, good pod. Lets twat Arsenal now.Ok, mate. I take your point on board. I had a dig about Dave having to watch the pen because the Darwin goals are so rare. Again, in jest, and largely in keeping with previous back-and-forth. And we disagreed on whether the header against the bar was a sitter or not.
However…
“Darwin had some nice efforts, hit the woodwork twice, ended up being four, which is remarkable but consistent.”
”Darwin steps up to take the pen Dave… you look at how Darwin started the game. He deserved a goal, he was irresistible and it was one of his best overall performances for us. He was electric. He seemed unstoppable unless you’re a 24ft by 8ft white post. He stepped up to take the pen and I thought great, let’s get him a goal but he sends the keeper the wrong way and hits the post.”
I’m a proper knob in real life, but I think I’m pretty fair on the podcast. I try to encourage a bit of balance when hosting. Said this before but any criticism of Nunez next sounds much worse than it is when the force of nature that is Dave is on the other end of the mic. I’ve never known anyone more accomplished at getting his point in such a manner that you think “he must be right. There’s so much conviction” even when a lot of the evidence points elsewhere.
I honestly fucking love Darwin. But I’ll be a little more mindful of how it’s coming across when I’m less complimentary.

Just delved into the pod stats a little bit. Podbean isn't as granular as some of the other platforms, but there's enough to know we're on the up.
Today is shaping-up to be our best single day ever for all-episode downloads (about 20 downloads to go in the next 90 minutes to reach that level), the vast majority of which are from an episode that didn't go up until lunchtime.January was our best overall month ever. By a margin of several thousands of downloads.
Lots of games, lots of news, but still. Thanks guys. You've all been so supportive in interacting with us after every episode, proving great discussion points through questions and sharing with your fellow Reds.
Appreciate ya.

The rosiest outlook for me all centres around Alonso.
If he comes in and does well, then great. Everybody wins.
If he comes in and does averagely/poorly, there may be an opportunity to get a reenergised Jurgen back. Or Lijnders may have been able to go and light it up somewhere as a manager, show he's got it in him to be the number one guy, and would then be a candidate as someone who has done spectacular work for us as a second in command.
I'm not prepared to look outside of those three people.

You are quite literally the only person I know who doesn't think it should be Alonso!
I quite like the idea of a pod with us all spending 2 hours giving Johnny shit for not wanting Xabi.

I got the news just as I was about to retire to bed last night and my mind was a sea of confusion. Just having my morning coffee and tuned in to the podcast.
Thanks for the Liverpool humor and literate contributions, Oh, and the 'Shut up Liver' pic Chris, now added to my screen saver slide show.
where are you based mate? Aus? -

I think we can assume this is firm no now.
Probably, but he also might be planning to interview for it? If it gets that far. Right now it’s a united front. -

Thank fuck, well done Dave, now I've got something moody to listen to while I enjoy 1000 cans of lager sat alone in a fog of smoke tonight.
I'm right there with you. I just thought to myself "thank fuck I have to teach tonight or I'd be about ten beers deep already."

"Klopp first invited neuro11, which helps players focus on penalties, free-kicks and other set pieces with “accuracy training”, to Liverpool’s pre-season training camp before the 2021-22 season when his team came close to winning the quadruple."
Accuracy training? You mean that's been an option all along?!

I'm not sure Klopp does sentimental but if he does Gomez should start in the final. That much he deserves, beyond that is he any more deserving of a start than Virgil, Konate, Trent or Robbo? It's only the later that the answer is yes too and even that's open for debate. It can only be healthy, Robbo with someone grabbing on his shirt should be a sight to behold.
Speaking of sentimental, I read before the game we had won 50 trophies and Fulham had never even been to a league cup final. I did feel a tiny tinge of pity for them in that moment, lasted about 7 seconds.
Michael Jackson supported them and they don't have to support Chelsea. What more do they want?

Good chat. I agree that Gomez will get plenty of games even if not in our first choice 11. For example, I can see him being on the bench for Chelsea but starting at Arsenal.
As for Newport, they just beat Wrexham so must be slight favourites against the Mancs. That's totally it, mate. It'll be a horses for courses situation. There are games when he will be first choice in the same way as Macca/Endo are. I'd definitely want him in for Arsenal at right back.

Unfortunately, it's easy to accidentally talk over each other because there's no queueing system. In the software we use, there's no facility to raise your hand to talk next which would be a really good addition.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have even mentioned it, as the pros of having a group of lads enjoying each others company talking freely definitely outweigh the cons of those interruptions. Was just a minor, minor annoyance this time out. On the last point, tearing my hair out when my boys are listening to the latest Youtube/pod where everyone are screaming their lungs out.
You definitely should have mentioned it. Always open to feedback on what could make the show better.

I'm not sure whether it's Twitter just showing me more, but it feels like they really went off the deep end after we won at the weekend. Just losing their shit about a Sky Sports image about our title charge.
"Cartel" this, "the other 14" that. And all stated as if it's fact and that everyone else is a deluded lunatic for thinking otherwise. Absolutely fucking deranged.
What are Sky gonna do? Make a fucking song and dance about their latest exciting bid to finish above fucking 17th.

He comes across as a young Speedo Mick: basically decent, full of energy and seriously underdressed.
Saw a video with him being really sound with some kids outside the match.
Matter of time before he gets hounded as a nonce or a "bad" somethingorother or for showcasing Kopite Behaviour.

Nice and dominant performance on the pitch,, followed by an optimistic podcast, love it!
I liked that there were four people on as well, gave a broader view and possibly even better discussion (and banter) than usual. I'll add one minor caveat... I'm probably showing my age here, but it would be awesome if you had some sort of signal when to jump in, so that you're not intterupting each other...
Noted on the interruptions. I can definitely be better on shutting up when someone else is talking. I suppose when you do add the fourth person to get that broader view and better camaraderie, the additional interruptions are inevitable. I noticed there was a little more than usual when I listened back today, but we were all pretty excitable after the big win.
