  1. I’ll be keeping this one short as I’m struggling with the lurgy and I don’t actually there’s much to say anyway. It wasn’t great but it was enough and that’s all I’m expecting in games like this. I was fine with it, so I was a little surprised to hear Slot going off on the performance afterwards. We’ve played much worse than this and he’s been relaxed about it. So why was he so pissed off after this? I think it’s about standards and that he’s seen them slipping a little since the City game and he senses a defeat coming if we don’t get back at it. I think this was an over-reaction from him but it wasn’t out of emotion, it was about deliberately sending out a message. The way he was talking up Girona was weird too, as I thought they were shite. In fact, if we were so bad and we still beat them, they must be shite. They’re 9th in La Liga and 30th in the CL table, but Slot was talking about them like they were Barcelona. So yeah, I think he’s sending a message to his players as he’s seeing signs of things creeping in that he doesn’t like. I like it, it’s keeping them on their toes and we’re going into a crucial part of the season now. If we avoid slip ups and get to the New Year with this lead intact then we’re in great shape, so I think Slot is just firing out a warning now just to get everyone refocused. I can see why he didn’t like the first half because it was too end to end and Alisson had to do too much. The second though, I don’t think they really did anything and I never felt like we were going to concede. The way we started the game I thought we were going to blow their doors off. The first ten was really good and we almost had the long awaited Joe Gomez goal when he met a corner from Robbo and powered a header goalwards. Unfortunately it was straight at the keeper. It’ll come eventually. Then it got a bit ragged and they started creating chances. Alisson made a handful of saves, only one of which seemed particularly difficult, but then that’s the beauty of Alisson as a lot of things seem easy because he’s always where he should be. They had too many chances, although I thought a couple of them would probably have been offside. He doesn’t know that though, he has to make saves and he did.

  3. After last week’s aberration, normal service is resumed this week as I can talk about those City losers dropping more points. Even before they turned to shit they would often have problems against Palace so this wasn’t exactly a shock result, especially given City’s recent form, but it’s still great seeing them suffer. Palace are a bogey side for them though, no question. They’re right there alongside Spurs and - to a lesser extent - Wolves as unfancied teams that have a decent track record of causing City problems, and so it proved once again. Munoz put Palace in front early when he ran in behind and finished well. City wanted offside but the “greatest right back in Premier League history” Kyle Walker was asleep on the opposite side of the field and playing him on. City hit back and should have equalised through the cave troll but Henderson denied him. Gundogan hit the post too but Palace always looked dangerous on the break so it felt like it could go either way. Henderson then undid his earlier good work when he came for a cross he was never going to get and allowed Haaland to equalise. Usually that would be the catalyst for City to go on and win, but this isn’t that City anymore and Lacroix got above “the greatest right back in Premier League history” to head Palace in front again. Rico Lewis equalised but was then sent off for a second booking. He’s unlucky as the second one isn’t even a foul, but it sure looked like one on first view and top Red Rob Jones reached for his pocket. I reckon any referee would make that same decision as its only when you see the slow motion replay that it becomes clear Lewis doesn’t foul him. In real time that’s a second yellow all day. Still, Guardiola had to have his weird little tantrum about it. He just kept saying “It’s Rico” when he was asked about why he was sent off. Fucking weirdo. There’s something wrong with him isn’t there? When you’re winning it gets passed off as being “quirky” or “eccentric” but when you’re losing you just seem like a fucking bellend. For all the talk about what’s going wrong with City and what their problems are, my Dad thinks that it’s just because the refs have stopped helping them out because of all of these charges they are facing. Rats deserting the sinking ship if you like. I don’t think it’s that at all, but it is noticeable that they haven’t been getting the kind of help they’ve become accustomed to, and I also thought it was a bit weird that Webb appointed a Liverpool fan to a City game. Have they finally fallen foul of PGMOL? The followed it up by losing 2-0 in Turin and they’ve put themselves in a tricky spot now if they’re going to secure a playoff spot. They have PSG away next and if they were to lose that then they’d be in real trouble. Their last game is at home to Bruges, so you’d assume they’ll win that but it might not be enough. And imagine a Simon Mignolet penalty save from Haaland to knock them out!

  5. Presumably that they're hiding behind signing important players to new contracts to not spend money on anyone in the summer. Which is very much foreseeable.

  9. TNT Sports couldn’t pick us for this one as they were supposed to be covering the derby last week, meaning that we are in that rare Saturday 3:00pm slot and not on TV. The thing is, Saturday at 3:00pm is still the ideal slot for a match. It’s not ridiculously early and doesn’t finish ridiculously late so you still have Saturday night to plan for, and hopefully all of Sunday to enjoy. A bit like with the British government going back forever it seems, the PL’s chase for the foreign gravy train means they have to bow to the whims of foreign TV markets. If Asia wants a PL match on during their peak Saturday night slot, it means a lunchtime game over here. Money takes precedence over quality and any real enjoyment. Plus ça change. After facing one of City’s feeder teams in the Champions League, we now take on Fulham at Anfield. They are one of those sides that can be a real handful on the day, especially if you are not on it yourselves. Not consistent enough to challenge for a top 4 place, but with a fair wind could make one of the other European places. Marco Silva has been there for 3 years now (longer than he spent at either Hull or Everton) so has had time to properly bed in his ideas. He wants his players to let the opposition know they’ve been in a game, win, lose or draw. We saw that last season where we were not allowed to get too comfortable in any of the 4 games we played. Not least in the corresponding league fixture last season, which was a real ding-dong battle needing some late heroics from both Endo and Trent. In the summer, they spent a lot of money to sign defender Andersen from Palace, midfielder Berge from Burnley, and attacking midfielder Smith-Rowe from Arsenal. He was always on the fringes of Arteta’s squad, had seen what regular game time had done for Palmer at Chelsea, and decided he needed to fly the nest. Harry Wilson had to make the same decision with us a few years ago, and he also opted for Fulham. They got a significant chunk of their outlay back on their new signings with the sale of Palhinha to sit on Bayern’s bench. They are a side that are unlikely to play on the front foot against the bigger sides, but rather try to counter quickly and crisply. They should have got something at the Etihad, and in their last 2 fixtures have beaten Brighton and drawn with Arsenal. We’ve seen what they can do if we aren’t at the races so we must ensure that everybody is far more tuned in defensively, more precise in our control and use of the ball, and much more ruthless in the attacking third. None of the sloppiness we saw at Southampton, Newcastle and Girona. Ali returned to action at Girona and should be OK to start again, and maybe Diogo (who also returned to training recently) might be an option off the bench. Maybe the Italian stallion will have overcome his sickness and be ready to be involved once more (you never know!). Macca is suspended for this one (he would have been missing for the derby had it gone ahead), and Conor, Ibou and Kostas are still unavailable. I’d expect Slot will go strong for this one with who he has available, and plan on more of a reshuffle for the League Cup tie next week. How have our previous managers got on in their first home fixture against Fulham? It’s a very good record, though Fulham didn’t play in the top flight until 2001, and have spent a few years in the second tier since then. Souness...N/A Evans...N/A Houllier...12/12/2001...Liverpool 0-0 Fulham Benitez...05/02/2005...Liverpool 3-1 Fulham (Morientes, Hyypia, Baros) Hodgson...N/A Dalglish...26/01/2011...Liverpool 1-0 Fulham (Paintsil og) Rodgers...22/12/2012...Liverpool 4-0 Fulham (Skrtel, Gerrard, Downing, Suarez) Klopp...11/11/2018...Liverpool 2-0 Fulham (Salah, Shaqiri) I don't ask for much. Maximum motivation, control, application, attitude and concentration from minute one. 3 points please. Get it done!

  15. Guessing you are feeling better, laugh out loud stuff on there, helps that City, Utd, Arsenal and Everton either shit or dropping points or both!. With you on the Vardy take, would have taken him for us 10 years ago. Proper fans player. Do you want City out of the CL or still in it with a 2 leg tie to get through? I am on the latter if they get a tie v Madrid, Bayern or Juve.. as all of them in that mix at the moment. Just want their suffering to be as much as possible, then compounded by relegation to League 2 (more the better) all their tainted success falling on deaf ears and their "era" wiped from the record books. ??sorry Mrs telling me to calm down.

  21. It's not really a policy/mindset I don't think, she's trying to become a character like, I dunno, Lee Anderson. "Straight talking, anti woke" etc. She doesn't really understand any of it, or of what's she's saying half the time. She's Johnson's legacy, a party completely emptied of any intellectual talent at all.

  24. I'm quite happy for people not to be ideologs. I think strong ideology is one of the biggest issues in the world today. We have too much polarisation and division and no room for evidence based approaches. I don't know what the new left is exactly, but I wouldn't say it represents the working man as it used to. It seems disinterested in personal freedoms and focused on consensus forming by almost any means. I don't actually know what they stand for anymore, other than criticising anybody who doesn't agree with them.

A giant Meccano hellscape full of scruffs and wannabee posh twats too lazy to move to London. "Have you been to new shit themed bar in the norvern quarter? It's got shit shaped glasses and pictures of shit on the wall, it's really wacky." Funnily enough no I haven't, now fuck off.

  27. Smith wrote about The Invisible Hand at a time when the economy was dominated by people who owned a business and had an interest in the long-term success of that business. The rise of the shareholding economy overturned that and paved the way for grotesque plutocrats like Musk, who contribute nothing and hoard everything.

  28. Everyone of those cunts who turned up yesterday had a brand spanking new tractor to block the roads with. They had some young bird on Sky News last night talking about how it’s hard and her qualification in agriculture and crop management won’t be put to use because her Step-Dad’s farm will be impacted. They can all fuck off.

  38. When that fat juice head Lino elbowed Andy Robbo, the first thing Gary Neville said on commentary was he’s gonna get into serious trouble for this. When they went back to the studio, they were all sat in silence looking absolutely stunned and went to the longest ad break I can remember. I was looking forward to see what the outcome of this would be but not a word was mentioned and it had me thinking something might be up here. That night, the silence from the journo’s and ex players who get the TV gigs was deafening on social media. Not one word was mentioned about the game at all and I had a feeling that the Monday was going to be full of then rushing to defend the Lino and castigate Robbo and it turned out exactly as I feared. Neville proved this by going full circle within 24 hours and Carragher was nowhere to be found. Later that week, a journo named Arlo White put on his Twitter that when he was doing prem games, they were warned that if there was any criticism of the refs, then they wouldn’t be getting anymore work and the stations would be warned that the access to the players would stop and when the contracts were up for renewal, they’d be pushed back down the line. There’s a Richard Keyes blog (I know) where he confirms this stating that he knows 2 ex players who can’t get work in the UK now after criticising the refs in games. The media are that terrified of losing access that they’ll do as they’re told. Uk match officials are the most protected species on earth and that’s why they’re getting away with it all the time. That photo of them all sitting with Thai hookers showed us what they’re all like.

  40. They are a funny lot, some of them. Whereas a lot of us who ref would rather be coaching,or playing if we weren't so old and shit, some of them see it as their pinnacle and do things to be the centre of attention. I find that I never liked most refs when around them as they felt they were as important as the players. When being a ref you should try to avoid,if possible, being the centre of attention. Some of them thrive off it.
