  1. My grandson is 9 now. We constantly chat about his mum, want him to know he can talk about her and his feelings when he wants. Fucking breaks my heart for my Mrs, him and my son in law. The day she died we thought it was important he said goodbye it all happened so fast I drove him down to the hospital to visit and his dad explained what was happening.

  2. They will have a massive majority because they had about four years of moderate platform of not scaring any potential voters off, being bland enough so people who just want (current) Tories out would vote for them and now, less than a month before the election, they are supposed to come out with the exact opposite of that approach in a manifesto?

  4. Latest YouGov poll. Lab: 37% (-1) Reform: 19% (+2) Con: 18% (nc) Lib Dem: 14% (-1) Green: 7 (-1) SNP: 3 (+1) Plaid: 1 (nc) Other: 2 (+1) Or, Labour 37% - The Conform Party 37%... With a large amount of 'undecided' still not factored in polling. That's why complacency can't kick in.

  12. I honestly don't think a single person here loves Starmer or thinks he's amazing. No ones defending him or arguing that he's the messiah, at least that's how it looks to me.

  13. Yeah, in favour of it. I don't think you should ever be paying income tax and not allowed to vote. Policies will have a great impact on 16/17 year olds lives than anyone else.

  14. Politics isn't popular with young uns. They've been offered nothing for decades so have now largely switched off from it. Imagine being 19 or whatever and watching Starmer v Sunak in the leadership debate. A pair of utter cunts, one offering centre right economics and the other one disaster capitalism. You'd probably stick to Tik Tok and drinking 37 energy drinks a day.

  16. Even if the polling is off they will have such a dearth of talent to draw on, align that with less exposure being the opposition/3rd party it is really going to fuck them up. Really is existential. Lovely stuff.

  20. Lightning bolt, percentage going up across the screenshots. Our boy is already plugged in, tucked in and doing last minute scrolling before getting a solid eight hours. Ready to be up at the crack of dawn to let us know whether or not there are any tenuous links between Liverpool Football Club and Lenny Yoro. edit: my money is on 'yes'

  26. Labour are probably the only ones that actually need to be careful what they put into their manifesto.

  27. Not at all, I believe the election is as good as over and Labour and politicians in general deserve scrutiny. I've been a labour voter all my life, I know all the main players from the Labour Party in S.Wales. Including Drakeford, my MP who's in the shadow cabinet and I've always got on well with them all on a personal level. They've always been good with their time for the little events I've been part of. Don't know this new leader and I'm not getting good vibes but we'll see.

  33. My niece has had her surgery to remove the lump, some surrounding tissue and some lymph nodes She asked the surgeon his advice on a mastectomy and he thought it unnecessary at this stage Her test results mean she has to have a course of chemotherapy which will start on the 20th. She's very low atm as you can imagine so my Mrs has been trying to give her a pep talk about how cancer loves misery and how having a positive mental attitude towards it can help. Easier said than done with her though as she can be a 'difficult' person at the best of times. Understandable though in these circumstances.

  35. This is really disappointing stuff. There are literally only two reasons I can think of that I didn't become an elite level professional footballer - I can't do knee slides, so would make a twat of myself when celebrating, and I thought the annual leave situation was unlawful. Now I feel like I've wasted my life.

  38. Well I'll tell you what Baz, we'll come up with no manifesto in future, the Libs, SNP and Plaid etc can do the same, and we'll just leave it as a straight fight between Blue Tory and Red Tory like in the states. Everything is sunshine and farts and let's be grateful for the crumbs the big boys leave us! Fucking hell!

  41. My cousin left a couple cans of Fosters in my fridge when he left (didn't realise he thought that little of me) around 7 or 8 years ago, last time I tried it. It was a genuine dilemma, as I hate crap, cheap beer but I am also a colossal mingebag who hates waste, so decided to force it down. I was expecting to absolutely hate it as much as Carling, but realised it tastes of nothing. There is no taste. I think I lashed some cordial in it to wash the rest down. I would have thought Jocky would be a real ale drinker. He needs to recover and get some decent beer down him ASAP.

  42. Went on a school holiday with De La Salle to Palma Nova in 77 or 78 and one of the teachers noticed that there was a pre season friendly tournament going on at Real Mallorca, so 6 of us piled into a car and there were two games on the same day. The local team played a Belgian team in the 3rd / 4th place game, and then Real Madrid played Flamengo in the main game. It was a bloodbath and Flamengo were down to 8 men before half time but they adapted their tactics to basically giving the ball to Zico every time they had it, and he was just imperious and well nigh impossible to dispossess. By the end Real had 2 players sent off for fouling Zico, Flamengo hung on to win 2-1 and the local crowd were ready to lynch Real. Great value for about 100 pesetas.

  45. Thank you all for your kind words and advice, it really means a lot. I'm taking him to see her at the hospice tomorrow, the staff their are really nice, hopefully he will talk to one of the staff - he is not one to open up he keeps stuff to himself. He is asking the odd thing every now and then so I'm just letting him go at his own pace and not push him.

  47. Just had to break the news to my 16 year old son his mum has weeks at most left. He knew she had cancer, but it deteriorated to the point she has months left so we decided to wait till after his exams to tell him; but we have now been told it's a matter of weeks maybe days. It's absolutely broken me, he has had a month of exam stress and now this has been piled on him. I wish I could get him to open up but he just keeps stuff to himself, all he says is he is angry with the doctors who fobbed her off for over 9 months telling her it was piles....I honestly don't know what to do
