  1. The Corbyn movement was massive and given more time would have flourished further. It emboldened a whole new younger generation in politics. The problem was it was hamstrung on two accounts. Corbyn isn't really a true leader, he's an idealist and a genuine proper campaigner. While that is also is positive that he's a genuine person who actually gives a shit about people I think it stopped him & his team from really playing the political game which is now absolutely necessary in modern politics. He failed to take on the mainstream media & make them accountable for their lies & biased reporting. He also failed to be ruthless with the very vocal & influential centre left part of the party who in the end basically stabbed him in the back. I said it a few years ago that the whole world would be in such a better place if Corbyn & Sanders were national leaders but there's no chance the modern political machine would allow two genuinely nice people to be in charge. There's simply too much dirty money flowing domestically & internationally to allow it to happen.

  2. Had my booster jab today. Pfizer. My first two were the AZ ones. The Dr who gave me the jab told me there's been a good response from the at risk group to getting it thankfully.

  4. The Manics aren't my cup of tea really but any band who has got behind the Hillsborough campaign like they have (i.e. NOT MANY) and tried to raise awareness of the disaster (and other occurrences of injustice in recent British history) makes them immune from criticism, and surely especially on a Liverpool forum.

  6. ive been reading the last few pages of this thread and quite frankly the level of stupidity on show is mind boggling We're fucking blessed to live in a time where we can basically create a "cure" for something so serious in record time, yet some people, for some crazy reason dont want to sign up to it. as i read somewhere, its now becoming a pandemic of the stupid, and thats about the best description you can get

  7. This is horrendous. The blame game will start now but in my view, the press - especially the right wing press - have played a huge part in the way politicians in general are demonised now. The narrative around 'snouts in the trough', 'traitors', 'saboteurs'. It's enabled the mentalists.

  8. It's bollocks if Angela Rayner gets all kinds of shit for this awful event. I personally saw nothing wrong with her comments, if you don't want the opposition to call you scum, don't govern like scum. If she'd said something like 'I'd like some young nutter to go and stab a Tory MP!' we may have something to discuss. Neg away trolls, neg away.

  9. I finally got round to watching The Dissident documentary film on Amazon Prime last night on the Jamal Khashoggi killing. It is even more shocking and appalling than I’d even realised. It’s directed and written by Bryan Fogel who was also responsible for the brilliant Icarus documentary film on Russia’s state sponsored sports doping. The lengths that Saudi’s leaders, especially bin Salman, go to to control the messaging in the media and more specifically social media in Saudi is unbelievable. The regime has a team of thousands running multiple accounts to rubbish any criticism of the regime and ensure the criticism is rubbished. It exposes them installing that Israeli made Pegasus spy software on enemies phones so they can see everything they do, with MBS himself sending the Spyware directly to Jeff Bezos and then using his affair to get back at him for the Washington Post’s coverage of Khassoggi’s murder. It has in depth transcripts of exactly what went on in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul as the Turk’s were able to listen to everything. There are also loads of interviews with Turkey’s government and chief police officers. It’s a brilliantly made film that I highly recommend. The fact that the world still deals with Saudi Arabia as if nothing happened just goes to show how corruptible our world leaders are. As long as you’re stinking rich you can get away with anything. I would suggest Newcastle fans especially should watch this film so they know exactly who is now involved in running their club and get clued up as to why they have got involved.

  13. Just fuck off and have a brew and think before posting again. A bloke's been murdered, leaving family and friends bereaved, and your first reaction is to see if you can use that for some weird attempt at point-scoring against strangers on a fucking forum. Have some decency.

Coldplay (say no more) Queen (Never liked them, boring fuckers especially John Deacon and Brian May and as for that Live Aid performance) Elbow (Guy Garvey's suicidal voice manages to make every song sound like every song they've ever recorded) Gun's 'N' Roses (It's not exactly smashing hotel rooms turning up hours late for concerts) Joy Division (that boring even Ian Curtis called it a day )

  15. The sad truth is that a sizeable portion of humanity have limited higher brain functions. They have brain stems and their thoughts don't tend to extend much beyond eating, drinking, shitting and fucking. These people, what the Nazis and Rome called 'the mob' can be mobilised and manipulated by unscrupulous people, prompted to give you power, even act as an army for you, if you push and prod them in the right ways. The reason the left loses this battle for the mob is it wrongly thinks they're capable of great things. Corbyn's labour was a good example of that. 'Let's build a movement from the ground up, learn, love and live together. To infinity and beyond!' 'Oh look. Chips.' The right has no such misconceptions. Three word slogans and pictures of people in dinghies will do the trick.

  16. This country has been fucked for a long time & will only get worse. Too many thick working class cunts voting Tory. Labour being finished as a political party doesn't help. The left and centre left faction has grown too wide and has basically split the party. Starmer is a pathetic spineless wanker who in opposition to the worst government in the history of the country has done nothing to expose them. He must be a fucking shit lawyer as well as anyone with half a brain in his position could have the majority of the government on criminal charges. The lies, deceit and money laundering is plain to see - there's a clear paper trail.

  19. Lots of misplaced Queen hate as well, I get that most only know them as the stadium rockers post Live Aid and I agree that THAT Queen were shite but their first five albums are very, very good and Mercury as a front man was bettered by nobody. I saw them at the Liverpool Empire in 1979 and although I was only 14 it remains the greatest gig I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to a few gooduns.

  22. The 'selfish' Salah myth of the past couple seasons is one of the most baffling things. Even at the moment, there are people who believe he is only now improving his link up play and creation of chances this season. The reality however is that over the past 4 years, only De Bruyne has created more chances and assists overall in England. The "selfish" myth needs knocking on the head.

  23. Spot on mate. I knocked around the Rockfield Rd area as a teenager. A fantastic working class community, with pubs, chippies, and a real sense of community and belonging for both Blues and reds in the area. All vandalised and erased to accommodate wealthy tourists flying in for games every couple of weeks. This is the uncomfortable TRUTH, that the RS rewriting of history endeavour's to gloss over. Scab club that has destroyed a whole area of our city. I wonder why "truth" is in uppercase. Their sly fucking Hillsborough digs are beyond contempt.

  25. I don't think it's about point scoring, it's about asking what's happened in this country that's led to TWO politicians being butchered in the space of five years. Stuff like this used to only happen in places like Mexico. It's not just an attack on an individual but on the fabric of our society and hard won freedoms, hard questions need to be asked. The Jo Cox murder was put down to a 'lone wolf', it can't be brushed under the carpet again. Something is seriously wrong with this country and it needs to be addressed. This is not normal.

  26. I know who's to blame. The person who did it. Rayner has revealed her true self recently as a bit of a turncoat, careerist politician and I've lost respect for her, but to even begin to blame her for this when we don't know a single thing about the perpetrators motive, background or mental health etc is ridiculous. And a bit sick, when the default reaction to a tragic incident is to rush to use it for political point scoring. The Tories can try and blame Rayner and her rhetoric for this attack. But, in doing so, they've also got to accept blame for every attack on an immigrant, ethnic minority, disabled person, poor person etc because of the rhetoric of the likes of Johnson, Patel, Rees-Mogg, IDS etc. They can't have it both ways.

  29. Who gives a shit what any MP has said, they are just a small part of public commentary these days. Social media etc thrives on rhetoric and will continue to do so. The responsibility lies with everyone, but it's very difficult to do that when so much of modern life is geared towards getting angry about everything and anything.

  30. Who said "he deserved it" ? Far worse than Rayner's "scum" comment was James Gray's who said a bomb should be planted in Annelise Dodd's office which was quickly forgotten about by the media.

  43. Surely this farce is the final straw and clubs will kick off now. When you have reached stage where the international calendar is stopping clubs from being able to field their employees then you know it is out of control...I find it hard to believe this is being allowed to happen and even harder to believe that clubs are going to just stand for it. As Carra put it earlier in week: "The Premier League has a credibility issue on Saturday. For a long time I have considered international breaks an inconvenience. This weekend, it is an unacceptable intrusion." "Although all the title-contending clubs are affected to some extent, the integrity of the matchday has been undermined due to avoidable, external circumstances. It is inexcusable that Fifa has allowed World Cup qualifiers to be scheduled at such a time which means the clubs paying the players’ salaries - in some cases around £250,000 a week - cannot reasonably use them in an important domestic match." It is fucking outrageous and it needs fucking sorting.

  44. Not really an away trip, but I was fortunate enough to be in Kiev in August 2006 when our away game vs Maccabi was relocated something like a week before. I could not believe my luck. Ukraine being Ukraine, a friend of mine got me an accreditation as a photographer so I could be on the pitch. That was great but I could not be that lucky , I got sick and was not feeling that well during the game, and I could not even show up at the post match press conference. I guess that was the price to pay for having bought a half- half scarf … Still, attending a Liverpool European away against an Israeli team while on vacations In Kiev, that was good, wasn’t it ?
