  1. Just got back from work and found out I have died. My first and greatest hero despite all of the legends I have seen since. Apparently a fantastic , modest gentleman as well as a superb footballer. RIP YNWA

  2. He gets some stick, but Owen is a great pundit when it comes to forward play. None of the Shearer bollocks about hunger, desire, erm hunger etc. just little movements and techniques highlighted.

  7. It's a legitimate question IMO. When someone transitions into a woman, they take on the physical appearance of a woman, but they don't take on the shared history of what it means to be a woman in a man's world. It's that aspect of 'being a woman' which many women who are most vocal about all this have an issue with. A transgender woman presumably hasn't grown up fearing footsteps behind her at night, nor been passed over for promotions or had to pretend they were on the phone to their boyfriend when they were in a taxi alone, never been physically intimidated by men in everyday situations or the subject of lude references. When women, some of whom like JK Rowling who've been victims of domestic violence, have issues with men encroaching on women's spaces, it's not because they don't think they're proper women or because they think they 'own' what it is to be a woman, it's because they 'feel' things that only women who've been born women have probably experienced, such as constant feelings of (potential) physical threat, and they feel that there are boundaries of safety and security which have to be respected. The race issue is analogous because, even if I got get my skin pigmentation changed to look black, say I'd always felt black and deserved to be treated as black, I'd never know what it feels like to be a black man in a white man's world, be it feelings of threat from the authorities or being the subject of snide and racist comments. I could not justifiably go to a gathering of black lives matter and pretend I know how it feels to be a black person, if I did, I'd be rightly ridiculed. Now. what really makes all this interesting to my mind, is the people who'd poo poo my first example of cis bigotry or whatnot, would be supportive of my stance on the second example, what makes them different - in their minds - I'm not sure, social acceptance perhaps. People dismissed as 'anti trans' are on the run as far as the arguments go, they're legitimate targets, but anyone defending the second point on race isn't - yet.

  16. There are some deaths you hear about of people you’ve never met that knock you for six. Sometimes it’s their young age, maybe the way they died. Occasionally it’s because you realise that they meant more to you than you ever knew. Roger Hunt has been part of my love affair with Liverpool FC for nearly all my life. He’s part of the reason why Liverpool are my club, despite my place of birth. I can’t lie and say the success they’ve had hasn’t been part of it, but it was also about the values, the colour and noise from the Kop, a city that gave us the Beatles, the stories of those early European adventures, Shanks greatness and Roger’s goals. What Liverpool FC became, the moments we’ve shared, we owe to relatively few. Sir Roger Hunt was one of them. RIP

  17. Nah mate, it's deliberately simplifying something and saying stupid provocative things to be an attention seeking twat on the internet. Vaccine passports in themselves obviously don't stop the spread of the virus but: a) being vaccinated reduces the spread of the virus - because vaccinated people are less likely to spread the virus, places full of fully vaxxed people are also safer than those with non-vaxxed people. b) governments (and employers) have a massive incentive to have as many people vaccinated as possible as it will reduce infections, keep hospitals, shops, schools open, and reduce the number of people getting sick, dying and overwhelming the healthcare system. So vaccine passports are also a bit of blackmail to get people to get vaccinated. All in a good cause. c) Also I don't think the tests that can tell if you have immunity and/or need a vaccine booster shot are fully developed and proven or validated yet. There are a lot on the way I think. Stand to be corrected there. Healthcare workers work with the most sick and vulnerable people. They should be vaccinated or they are more likely to pass on the virus to someone with leukaemia who will then die, for example. Pretty much the exact opposite of the hippocratic oath, that.

  18. Don't worry we're offering 5,000 short term visas to people we demonised and belittled to come in and experience the same, but with less stability and security, to rescue us, they'll be here any minute now... In the meanwhile we are making absolutely no plans to get things fixed beyond extending working hours and making testing easier, it's remarkable that no one else thought of it before. Just goes to show we're in good hands and they are on top of the detail. On a serious note this will be something that rears it's head sporadically and wil do nothing to remove the resource anxiety that many are now facing. Johnson's Britain in microcosm and there is still worse to come.

  22. Trying to blag half a stadium project funding off Tesco then leaving Kirkby in the shit when they couldn't come up with their part of the cash. Blagging £45m off the council to get the stadium going, trying to get a loan off the council to fund their stadium, getting the council to buy their training ground, allowing the independent companies to furlough the catering and shop staff as well as using £18m of the government Coronaviris business interruption loan scheme. "Yeah but the redshite tried to furlough their staff"

  23. Scored twice in my first game at Anfield. Instant hero. Sometimes the term "legend" is overused but never in his case. He epitomised everything about the Shanky era and what over the years the club has aspired to be.

  27. Sepp van den Berg (Preston) - Full 90 for Sepp as Preston picked up a point with a 0-0 draw at Birmingham. Ben Davies (Sheffield United) - Consecutive starts in the League for Ben. Played the full 90 in a 1-0 win against troubled Derby. Rhys Williams (Swansea City) - Not in the matchday squad as Swansea beat Huddersfield 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium. Adam Lewis (Livingston) - Started the 3-0 defeat at Hearts. Replaced at halftime. Anderson Arroyo (CD Mirandes) - Another start at centre-half for Anderson, according to FlashScore anyway. Played the full 90 as Mirandes fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Leganes. Leighton Clarkson (Blackburn) - An unused sub as Blackburn thrashed Cardiff 5-1 at Ewood Park. Ben Woodburn (Hearts) - A first full 90 for Ben as Hearts thumped Livingston 3-0. Sheyi Ojo (Millwall) - Started Millwall's 1-1 draw at Forest. Credited with the assist for Millwall's goal. Paul Glatzel (Tranmere Rovers) - An unused sub as Tranmere picked up a point at Forest Green. Luis Longstaff (Queen's Park) - Started on the bench before being introduced in the 74th minute as Queen's Park gained all 3 points at home against Peterhead.

  28. I think the form of both players is being grossly exaggerated. Kostas has made glaring errors in all the games he's played. He's done well going forward, but his defending has been ordinary at best. Robbo people are waiting for the form he's shown consistently for years, he's not at that level, but robbo -10% is still better than most. I don't think there's a lot between them and we know how high the ceiling is with robbo. Unless rest is going to sort his form (and I see no reason why this would be the case), imo this is the time you stick with him.
