  5. Can we drop this 'joint top' bollocks, we're 2nd on goal difference. Great place to be at this point in the season but still 2nd. If the season ends with us on the same points as City but an inferior goal difference we won't be 'joint winners'.

  6. I must be in the minority. I don't mind the fact we're level on points with the league leaders. Or the fact we've only conceded 3 goals so far, or the fact we're still unbeaten in the league even though we've played Chelsea away and spurs away. At this time last year we had been bummed by both City and spurs, had shipped close to 20 goals and some knobs were doubting the manager. Ok, the performance wasn't great today, but we won. And fuck City, who have they played yet? Apparently 4 of the past 6 promoted teams Let's worry about them after they play Chelsea, utd and spurs.

  8. People are actually saying the Chelsea staff member was a disgrace. It's disrespectful, but a disgrace is trying to gouge another coach in the eye after a game. That shit today was barely anything.

  10. I lost my Sister in 2012 from Liver Cancer. From her walking in to Hospital in Sheffield to her dying took just under 2 weeks. To this day I still can't get my head around it and not a day goes by without me thinking about her. Strangely though the memories from that fortnight are on the whole ok. I had the chance to sit with her even though she was rapidly going downhill and I had a truly wonderful day one Saturday with my entire family just talking to her and reminiscing even when the drugs took hold and she drifted off to sleep. The last time I spoke to her was as I was leaving to return home and she said not to forget she loved us all I kissed her on the head, told her I loved her and went home to my wife and 2 boys She died a day later as I was about to take my Mum back to the Hospital (We live in St Helens) My dad rang and said "She's gone, take your time coming over" Telling my 2 boys was the worst part, I sat with them and tried to explain that their aunty had been very ill and Won't be coming home again. The oldest was 9 at the time and wanted to know what I meant, the youngest who was 7 just turned on his heels and ran off, strange how he understood before the oldest? Even though I was totally devastated by the whole thing I'm totally at peace too, as I had the chance to say goodbye and tell her how much I loved her. I still have moments though, an occasional song on the radio or a certain smell will hit hard. Grief is a strange one as its totally different to everyone, People I know and work with have all exhibited it in many different ways from a total breakdown in front of me to barely a shrug of the shoulders . Very Cathartic this, as it's the first time I've ever put this in writing even though I've found it relatively easy to discuss with people And that is the thing really - Discuss it It won't be easy and will have to be at your own pace but try and talk with someone, it does help.

  12. I lost my brother who was also my best mate to cancer in March 2016, 9 months later my mum died of pneumonia, this was while I was going through a messy and prolonged divorce where I lost my house and had to take redundancy from a well paid job to get rid of the debts my ex wife left me with, but the death of my brother was the thing that hit me the hardest, it completely floored me and devastated me, he was like a lion, never once complained about what he was going through, never wished it on anyone else, and was more worried about other people than himself, it broke me having to go and see him while he was dying but I put on a brave face, hid the tears and went in cracking jokes and having a laugh with him, he talked about dying and it fucking almost crucified me when he was talking about it, but i think it was something he had to do, so he never saw me break, he was a Man City fan, since the early 70s when we were kids and with me being Liverpool there was plenty of banter, he died the week after we played City in the league cup final, that was the last game we ever watched together, he was drifting in and out of consciousness due to the drugs but still celebrated when City scored, before he died I wrote him a letter telling him how much I loved him and when it was his time to go he had to say hello to Elvis, John Lennon and Bruce Lee from me, and he said he would but I had to tell him the City scores whenever I went to his grave, which I do. The after affect is awful , like you're drowning and just get your breath back and another wave of grief crashes into you, I have no idea how I got through it, there's books that I read in the weeks and months after, and films I watched that I have no recollection of, I should have had counselling but I had no idea that it existed, time heals but every so often a song or a memory sneaks up and slaps you in the face, I must be made of stern stuff as I know of a couple of people that have committed suicide in my town just cos they split up from their wives/girlfriends.

  15. Where I work makes me laugh. We have all these national mental health days and awareness sessions as well as mindfulness meetings. All well and good and looks like a caring employer. But then we get a shite below inflation pay rise and each year the management chip away at your employment rights. Any type of thing they don't legally have to give you they will take from you and make the workplace as difficult as possible. People have anxiety over money problems and worry about taking sick days when genuinely Ill and no amount of sitting round in a tick box exercise group will stop that.

  16. Last season we would have drew or lost that and you cunts would have complained less. First team in history to concede just 3 goals in their first 9 games. Still undefeated. Played all the other 3 teams making up the top 4 and even they couldn't beat us. The other 3 haven't played each other yet either, so they'll take points off each other soon enough. Fuck the haters.

  17. Thought our midfield perked up and was much more lively when Wijnaldum came on. Good to see Studge get 90 minutes too. Nowhere near the dizzy heights of last season but equally, nowhere near as shite as most of the doom-mongers would have you believe. 3 points and onward we march.

  19. Yeah, it was unbelievable how bad those counters were. Like the Monstars from Space Jam decided to steal their abilities instead of basketball players in those moments. Can't talk about that though because we won and it's whinging.

  26. Obviously. Nobody serious thinks when you say Saudis you mean the average person on the street, or even worse, Arabs. Just like nobody serious equates ‘The Israelis are committing international crimes’ means ‘I hate the Jews’. Only apologists trying to deflect from the crimes of Saudia Arabia and Israel would attemp such a thing, and who cares what they say anyway.

  29. Why would I take Xavi’s word for it? I reckon I’ve watched Scholes literally hundreds and hundreds more times than Xavi did. I have no idea if Xavi is thick as fuck either or the most intelligent footballer ever and neither do you. So many former pros talk so much shit I’d rather judge with my own eyes. The prime example of it is Gary Neville. This is a guy who played with him for his whole career and then sits there and says that it’s baffing that Scholes was never picked in the base of a midfield 3 for England with Gerrard and Lampard in front of him. It’s almost like he’s had a lobotomy. He retired for England probably about 8 years before even Ferguson thought about playing him there and that was because of the players they had around first the team they got away with it. This laughable myth started to develop getting towards the end of his career and it’s blown massively out of control since he retired. He didn’t get near the top midfielders in the premier league. He was basically another cog in Ferguson’s teams and one that had no inclination to leave so ended up staying there as midfield was always something Ferguson struggled to judge for his whole career. He was a very good player obviously but you see these comments more and more. “He was the complete midfielder, he ran the midfield, he never give the ball away, he didn’t waste possession on Hollywood passes” and it’s all complete bollocks. He came into the United team as a forward and over time started to get played in the midfield of the best attacking premier league team with very little defensive responsibility and was basically in the team because he was goalscorer. I wouldn’t say it was exactly like the position Lampard played for Chelsea where he has no defensively responsibility in most games but it wasn’t far off. He only dropped into the deep lying role really late on in his career and you now see people talk as if this is what he did in his whole career. He wasn’t trusted in the big game to play there either. He had to be carried by another ball winner or player to do his running. In every successful side he ever played in he was a minor part. It’s the reason he never picked up any individual awards and consistently why he was hardly ever selected in teams of the year. It seems to be the hipster thing to wax lyrical about what a great player he was but it’s a myth.

Umunna getting 450 quid an hour to head up a 'centrist think tank' Clegg doing this bullshit David Miliband heading some major charity, Tristram Hunt heading the British museum, Balir taking krgerands from every despicable cunt under the sun. Corbyn at home making jam and taking pictures of manhole covers. I think we know why he never fitted in.

  42. Lets hope he can stay fit now and try and play his way back into the side. I had a bit of a moan about our strength in depth after the City game but having Lallana and Oxlade-Chamberlain still to come back shows that we do have strength in depth. Just need to keep everyone as fit as possible ! Is Matip injured? I know Gomez has been excellent and Lovren appears to be 2nd/3rd choice to Van Dijk anyway but has Matip been out or just benched? Ive missed any news on him

  44. Into the Wild 6 /10 Decided to watch it after reading the discussion about it here. I think the film works for you if you buy into the main character, I mostly didn't. It is an interesting story which will stay with you for some time though and it is not hard to see why it would mean a lot to many (I guess mostly young) people because we do constantly wonder as we go through life is a different way of living possible, are we in fact prevented from some more authentic existence by society's conventions and limitations etc. However, Penn (and I guess Krakauer in the book) does not present this as a dilemma or a concept to ponder over, he just builds his main character as someone we should immediately admire as some kind of wise soul, deeply introspective, prophetic person, which can, if you are over 16 or so years of age, make you want to kick him as more often than not it creates the opposite effect and the character comes across as a self-centred, self-righteous and ultimately arrogant prick. Also, there is only so much Eddie Vedder you can take in two and a half hours.

  46. We would go for a few pints first and it was like being in Nam. The boss would be in and out. We would have someone on watch and when he left we would cross over and sit down. Hand signals and everything. There was about 6 of us and we would wipe him out of every meat dish. One lad was about 6’8’’ 25 st and you would not believe how much he could eat. He would often get a hotdog after we left. He ate that much he could not buy a bowl big enough for his tea. So he bought the front thing off a washing machine from rapid diy.
