  1. Just another standard Anfield European night. The more things like this happen, the less anyone will want to come here and face us. It’s not just that we beat PSG, it’s how we beat them. We completely dominated them and then even when it looked like we’d somehow let it slip, we still managed to get it done. Things like that will only fuel the whole “Fortress Anfield” narrative. There’s not a team in the world I wouldn’t fancy us to beat at Anfield, particularly under the lights. PSG have talent but they never have to play against anyone like us so it was always going to be tough for them. People forget that I think. Much of the talk is what a big test it was going to be for us. No, the big test was for them. We were in the final last year, this isn’t our first rodeo. The fuck have they done? Yeah they reach the last 16 or last eight most years, but so did Arsenal. They could never beat anyone decent either. We face a much tougher level of competition week in week out, and that makes a big difference. Our players will run and run and run and won’t complain about it because they believe in their manager and what he expects from them. They know his methods work and they’ve bought into them. PSG have it too easy in Ligue 1, they don’t need to work. They’re like me in junior school when I got by on my big brain. I didn’t need to study or revise because, all modesty aside, I was just cleverer than everyone else. Then I got to seniors and everyone passed me by because I was so lazy and couldn’t be arsed doing any schoolwork, and my big brain alone wasn’t enough anymore. There were kids nowhere near as clever as me coming away with A’s and B’s, while I was failing everything and proving to be a massive disappointment to my parents. You know what I got for GCSE English? An E!! I write for a living and I’ve got an E for my English GCSE. Not because I couldn’t do it, but because, like Neymar and tracking back, I just couldn’t be arsed. So yeah, the moral of that story is that Ligue 1 is junior school, the CL is seniors, and myself and Neymar are lazy bastards. Neymar and Mbappe should be embarrassed when they watch the replay of this game. They made Sturridge look like Dirk Kuyt. Fair play to ‘Studge’, he did his bit defensively. He mightn’t be the most energetic looking of players but at least he attempted to put himself in the right positions to close down space, and when one of the wide players went central he moved over to cover. There's just such an intensity about our play on nights like this, and Milner set the tone for it with an early challenge on Neymar that got everyone going. It was probably the best moment of the night other than Bobby's goal. Neymar skipped away from Trent and was doing a stepover and then BAM!!! He's on his arse. That fancy dan shit isn't going to fly with Milner, he's from Yorkshire. It reminded me of this.... Those PSG lads just reeked of ‘big time’ and you could see some of the dirty looks they were getting from their beleaguered team-mates. Poor Rabiot has probably had his career shortened by a year or two after the amount of running he was forced to do in this one. There was one incident near the end when he had to run 60 yards chasing Gini down the right wing. He stuck to his task to be fair to him, and then at the end of it he looks upfield and sees Neymar just fucking stood there. He looked like he was fuming, but you would be wouldn’t you? This is one hell of a team we’ve got right now, but we’ve got to start killing teams off when we’ve got them on the ropes. It’s been a problem ever since we rolled over West Ham on opening day. Since then, every game has been much closer than it ought to have been in the closing stages. We almost drew with Spurs at the weekend. That would have been a staggering miscarriage of justice, but this might have been even worse. We could have lost it before we eventually won it. I mean how the fuck does that happen? Going 2-0 up should have led to a Roma style hammering. The opening goal was great. Brilliant cross by Trent that was just missed by Mané. Then an even better ball by Robbo that wasn’t missed by Sturridge. Cue wriggly arms celebration, inevitably mimicked by Sadio, the celebration chameleon. Soon after it was 2-0 as PSG’s left back inexplicably tripped Wijnaldum in the box. Big Games James stepped up and buried the pen, and PSG were facing the prospect of being blown away. Then they were handed an undeserved lifeline just on half time. The goal shouldn’t have stood as Cavani was a yard offside when the cross came in and he attempted an overhead kick, thereby influencing the play as it put our defenders off. The ball hit Robbo on the shin and fell to Meunier, who finished it well to be fair. I wasn’t unduly concerned about that goal but I did think it might liven PSG up a bit. It didn’t. The second half was one way traffic. This game was so easy we should have been up by four or five as they couldn’t live with us at all. It was only easy because of how hard the players worked though. The pace and intensity we play at was just too much for PSG. It’s one of the strangest games I’ve ever seen really. In the second half it looked like PSG thought it was a testimonial. There were gaps everywhere, our players had acres of space to play in and at times it was so easy I think that had a negative impact on how we played. Normally I’d expect us to score six against a team who played like that. A couple of times we had four agains three attacks and just ended up picking the wrong option through being spoiled for choice. I just don’t know what PSG were doing, it was weird. Three up front and then everyone else expected to just try and stop our attacks. But for the brilliance of Thiago Silva this would have been a rout. He was top drawer I thought. As were our lads at the back too, although they were not as overworked as Silva. Big Virg was just strolling around with all the time in the world, pinging passes out to Trent on the right wing who seemed to have twenty yards of space to operate in at all times. It was mad, as I say, I just don’t know what PSG were doing. I thought they were a fucking disgrace actually, but then all of a sudden it’s 2-2 and Draxler is in the box with a great chance to win it. How did we get there? It’s not like we played badly, in fact we were outstanding all over the park. But we didn’t kill them off. Even teams who lack of talent can hurt you if you don’t step on their throat, so when they have as many dangerous forwards as PSG you just can’t let them back up off the canvas. That was the mistake we made, we got sloppy because it was too easy. I fully expected us to win but I thought they'd have put up more of a fight than they did. I don't think they're as great as some make them out to be but obviously they're dangerous as they have some world class talent. I think they've have been hyped up a bit too much just because they’ve got Neymar and Mbappe. Logically though, there was absolutely no reason to think they were going to come to Anfield and beat us. There’s no reason to think they’ll beat us in Paris either. It could happen, of course it could, but I just don’t see them as being as good as us. I expect them to play a lot better than this though. Talk about individuals all you like, but it takes more than that to be a great team. We’ve got great individuals too, but the collective exceeds all of that. We’re a team. We play as a team, whether that’s attacking or defending. That’s the difference between us and PSG. For example, Mo was mostly shite in this game but he still worked his little nuts off because that's the very least that's expected of everyone in our team. Neymar on the other hand, is only interested when the ball is at his feet. Mbappe isn't much better either. He looked sharp but he was very well shackled for the most part and he made no attempt whatsoever to stop Robbo marauding forward. As for Cavani? He’s all hype. Always has been, always will be. Even if he scores a hat-trick in the return game he’s still a massive fucking phoney. Whenever the question is raised about who has the best front three the answer is always going to be us because our front three doesn’t have that big skeletor looking fraud in it. At least he puts in a shift though, which is more than the other two lazy bastards can say. Ultimately we didn’t win this because of our much vaunted front three though. Ok, technically we did because one third of it came off the bench and scored the winner. My point is that whereas last season our forwards were running riot in this competition, this win was more about the team’s performance as a whole. Bobby wasn’t even on the pitch for most of the game, while we would probably have been better off if Mo had been sat beside him on the bench too. He just doesn’t look happy in himself right now and isn’t playing with the same freedom and joy we’re used to. It’s all looking a bit too forced at times. He could really have done with that disallowed goal being allowed to stand, because he really struggled after it. He was lucky to stay on as long as he did and when he was subbed it was very much a case of shutting the stable door when the horse was already halfway down the street. You can’t give the ball away that cheaply even to an average Premier League side, so doing it when Neymar and Mbappe are waiting to pounce is only ever going to end in trouble. Still, we were a bit unlucky there as Van Dijk did well to challenge Neymar, but the loose ball fell perfectly for Mbappe to score. Klopp wasted no time in hooking Mo after that. He might want to sit him down and have a chat with him, find out what’s on his mind as something just isn’t quite right with him so far this year. I’m not worried yet, but I’ll feel a lot better when he’s looking like himself again. Tell you what though, Mbappe’s celebration pissed me off. Cocky little twat. You can do that in front of the Kop when you’re playing for us next year, but until then pack that shit in. Presumably that’s what Klopp said to him at full time anyway. Being pegged back to 2-2 was a massive kick in the balls but suddenly PSG realised they might actually steal the game. Draxler’s arrival gave them a spark, although that was offset by the introduction of Choupa-Mouting. How mad is that? He went from Stoke to PSG after a season in which he didn’t really do anything out of the ordinary. Must have one hell of an agent that lad. Probably the same agent who got Tommy Gravesen a move to Real Madrid. You’ve got to hand it to this team of ours though, they’ve got great spirit and a never say die attitude. To be able to pick themselves up and go and grab the winner says a lot about them. Shaqiri made a positive contribution off the bench and must be close to getting a start now. I like his enthusiasm, it’s infectious. He was involved in the winner as he won and then took the corner that ultimately led to the goal. For a second though it looked like we were going to be in real trouble as Firmino headed it straight to Mbappe who was instantly looking to counter attack. Milner put a stop to that though and before you knew it, the ball was back at Bobby’s feet and he bamboozled a couple of defenders before drilling one into the bottom corner. Cue trademark funny celebration. And of course, cue Sadio the celebration chameleon mimicking it. The win was fully deserved and keeps our 100% start intact. It also lays down an early marker in the group. Napoli away will be difficult but I’d still expect us to win. That almost goes without saying though, as there are no games I go into these days thinking we won’t win. Star man is Milner again, but I thought Wijnaldum and Robertson ran him very, very close, and Hendo was superb too. That’s why we were so dominant. Players like those who will just outwork and outfight the opposition, as well as being able to match them for ability. Everyone performed well except Mo, but he gets a pass because he never let it affect his defensive responsibilities. Sturridge deserves a mention too as it can’t be easy coming in from the cold and being asked to fill Bobby’s boots against such high quality opposition. Coming in and playing against Huddersfield is one thing, but PSG in the Champions League is difficult when you’ve hardly played so all things considered he did very well. Should have scored another couple of goals though. He missed an easy header from a glorious Trent cross and there was also a poor touch that led to him fouling the keeper and causing Mo’s ‘goal’ to be chalked off. That was probably the right decision but it shouldn’t have taken that long for the ref to make it, and just what the fuck is that official behind the goal doing? Nothing, that;s what. As usual. Said it before and I’ll say it again, they’re a complete waste of time those fuckers, they never give any decisions even when they’re right on top of it, like this one. Those misses by Sturridge could have been costly on another day but it’s hard to be too critical of him when he’s hardly played. It’s difficult for Klopp but he has to find a way to get Sturridge and Shaqiri involved more to keep them sharp. I think the key to it is for the team to be able to get that all important third goal that kills teams off. That’s been the biggest problem we’ve had so far this season. Get the third goal and things become so much easier on a number of levels. Hopefully when Mo regains his mojo we’ll start to do that again. Team: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Milner; Salah (Shaqiri), Sturridge (Firmino), Mané:

  2. Chelsea needed to win by three goals against Cardiff to take top spot from us. They fell behind early and it was looking good for us (and Cardiff!) until Eden Hazard said “fuck this” and took Neil Warnock’s side to the cleaners. Sol Bamba (better than Van Dijk, according to Warnock) missed a great chance from an early set-piece but Chelsea didn’t heed the warning and Bamba knocked one in from close range soon after. Gonna have to revise my statement on Cardiff never scoring any goals. I’ll rephrase it slightly. They won’t score any goals from open play between now and Christmas. Their lead didn’t last long. Hazard equalised with a brilliant goal and then put Chelsea ahead seven minutes later with a shot that went in off Bamba (better than Van Dijk, remember). Chelsea’s third came from the penalty spot when Bamba (did I mention he’s better than Van Dijk?) lunged in and brought down Willian. Hazard tucked away the pen to complete his hat-trick and then Willian curled in a brilliant fourth to ensure they ended the weekend in first place. Thanks for nothing, Cardiff. They’ve got City next, so I won’t be expecting any favours from them there either. Warnock said afterwards “we were in it for for about 80 minutes…. but the best team by a mile won” and then he laughed. He’s playing with house money this season. He worked a miracle getting them promoted and if they stink, so what? It’s no reflection on him really, so that’s why he’s so relaxed. Sarri wasn’t too happy though. He likes how Chelsea attack but thinks they need work at the back. He’s right, but if you play Sideshow Bob in a back four then you have to expect that, surely? He’s a strange looking cat, Sarri, isn’t he? Just doesn’t look like a manager at all. He looks like Don Savastano from Gomorrah, with his oversized t-shirt, crew cut and glasses. Don’t get on his wrong side, I bet he’s fucking ruthless. Good result for Wilfried Palace at the weekend. Huddersfield probably shaded it on chances but Zaha was the difference between the sides, as he so often is. Take him out and Palace lose every fucking week. Put him in and they’re a top ten side. His goal was fantastic and he’s got three already this season even though he’s missed time with a groin problem. He really went off on one afterwards about the lack of protection he gets from the officials. Maybe if he stops diving all over the fucking place like a Poundland Neymar refs would give him a little more benefit of the doubt? Just a thought. There was a really bad tackle on him by Jorgensen early on which probably should have been a red, but then Zaha himself left one on a Huddersfield defender and was yellow carded so he’s lashing bricks in a greenhouse there. I’m kicking Zaha to the kerb now. As of this week, he’s no longer my boy. What about Bournemouth though, eh? Fucking hell. They battered Leicester. I thought that would be a really tight game but it was anything but. Ryan Fraser put them ahead with a terrific solo effort. Harry Maguire somehow escaped a second yellow when he completely flattened Josh King with a body check. I guess being an England ‘world cup hero’ gets you certain privileges. Six months ago he’d have been off for that, no question. Fraser added a second and then Craig Pawson gave a fucking ludicrous penalty when King played the ball against a defenders hand from point blank range. Terrible that. King buried the pen to make it 3-0 and Leicester were staring down the barrel of a hammering, especially when Pawson then sent off Morgan for winning the ball. Bullshit again that. This is what happens when you’re not an England ‘world cup hero’ I guess. Adam Smith made it 4-0 after more good work by Fraser. Bournemouth then got a bit complacent and Smith conceded a pen that was converted by Maddison, before Albrighton headed in another consolation goal to give the score a less embarrassing look for Leicester, but no-one was fooled by it. Leicester ought to be better than this though. They’ve got some really good players and probably should be the best non-top six side. At the moment it looks like that might be Bournemouth or Wolves. You know something, I’ve had one of my trademark changes of heart about Fraser. I was offended when he came off the bench to embarrass us a couple of years ago. I mean come on, this fat little Scottish no-mark shouldn’t be doing that to us. It stung and it stayed with me for a while, so I was quite harsh on him as a result. I’ll say it now though. I like him, he’s a good little player with a great attitude. There’s an opening in my stable now that I ditched Zaha, so from this day forth he shall be known as 'my boy' Ryan Fraser. Elsewhere, Rafa parked his bus again and as usual it didn’t work. He’s done an incredible job up there though. Not on the pitch, but in the way he’s somehow managed to make those Geordies forget about Kevin Keegan’s all out attacking style and accept his outrageous, shit on a stick negativity. Arsenal’s away record over the past 12 months is fucking rank. They’re a soft touch, there for the taking, everyone knows it. They even know it. But you have to go at them and put them under pressure. Don’t sit on the edge of your own box, cowering and hoping to not get fucked. Arsenal were shite in the first half but Newcastle were worse. Arsenal got better after the break, Newcastle didn’t. Xhaka’s brilliant free-kick broke the deadlock and Ozil added a second. Clark’s header with two minutes of stoppage time left made the scoreline look close but it was much too little too late. Arsenal are crap. We’ll batter them. Newcastle are terrible but will probably give us a much tougher game as they won’t leave their own half. City cruised to a 3-0 home win against Fulham, who basically handed the game to them on a plate. Serri has made an impressive start to Premier League life but he took a massive liberty early on in this game and it resulted in a tap in for Sane. You can’t do shit like that against sides like us and City, who want to press high and force a mistake. It was completely irresponsible from him. David Silva made it 2-0 and Sterling got his customary goal from a yard out to wrap things up. Baldiola wasn’t happy though, he felt his players were slacking and he brought them in for extra training the next day. His players responded with a big ‘fuck you’ by promptly losing at home to Lyon. City have lost their last four Champions League games now. Enough is enough now. They’re embarrassing the Premier League and should do the decent thing and withdraw from the competition and ask if they can go in the Europa instead, which might be more their level. I’m serious. City in the Champions League are like tits on a bull. Look at Anfield the night before and then compare it to the Etihad. I’m not talking about the empty seats, I’m on about the lack of enthusiasm from those who were actually there. European nights are supposed to be special. City just don’t get that. They don’t understand. Success and the big stage is completely wasted on them. United, Arsenal, even Chelsea get it. Nowhere compares with Anfield but at least those other clubs know that these are special occasions that should be savoured. Granted, Chelsea might show it with their shitty plastic flags, but at least they know they should be doing something. Stamford Bridge on a European night is better than Stamford Bridge on a league cup night. Old Trafford too. Can City say the same? Great team, dreadful fans. Klopp should be tapping up the shit out of De Bruyne and telling him to run down his contract. A player like that shouldn’t be playing in front of those fans. He’s a Red, bring him home Jurgen. Bring him home. ‘Super Sunday’ should have been done under the trade descriptions act this week. Burnley against Wolves and Everton v West Ham? What’s super about that? That’s what I was thinking anyway. I was wrong though. Everton being thumped by the league’s bottom club was pretty ‘super’ to be fair. Everton. *shakes head* Where to start with them. They were unbeaten going into Sunday’s game but that was the most misleading statistic of the season so far. We all knew they were shite and Sunday proved it. After Huddersfield left Goodison with a draw I fancied the winless Hammers to go there and get the points so it was no real surprise when they did. Really unselfish play from Arnautovic put the opening goal on a plate for Yarmolenko. The Ukranian added a second soon after, put on a plate for him this time by Jordan ‘great with his feet’ Pickford. How’s that “I won’t do an Alisson” thing working out for you, soft lad? This is why keepers should always stick up for each other. There but for the grace of God and that. Pickford’s actual quote on Alisson wasn’t as bad as the headlines made them out to be, but he should have steered clear altogether as there’s nothing to be gained by it. Sigurdsson headed the Blues back into it but Arnautovic restored the Hammers’ two goal cushion and they saw it out comfortably. Is Arnautovic the best player outside the top six? It’s between him, Vardy and Zaha I’d say. Ruben Neves as well actually. West Ham will kick on from this and pull away from the bottom as long as Arnautovic stays fit and as long as they keep Jack Wilshere on the bench. You know who Wilshere reminds me off these days? Joe Cole when he played for us. He’s finished, looks like he’s running with an open parachute strapped to his back and probably smokes 40 woodbines a day. With West Ham winning, that now leaves Burnley rock bottom after they were beaten by Wolves. It was only 1-0 but Wolves thoroughly outclassed them and missed a shitload of chances. They look good. Joe Hart described them as by far the best newly promoted side he’s ever faced. He had a good game again. I’m pleased for him, I hope he keeps it up and takes his England place back from that mouthy little twat at Everton. Burnley are in trouble though as it looks like their style has been rumbled now. There’s always one team that starts terribly but then saves themselves. Bournemouth and Palace spring to mind as recent examples, and maybe Burnley will be that team this year. My gut feeling is they’re going to be down there in around the drop zone all season though. Like when Wimbledon’s alehouse approach eventually stopped working. Monday night’s game was decent. Southampton went 2-0 up against Brighton but ended up being pegged back to 2-2. Mark Hughes was unhappy with the referee afterwards. Show me an occasion when his team doesn’t win and he isn’t unhappy with the referee. He’s always unhappy about something. I doubt if there’s a more miserable moaning bastard in English football. Hopefully he’s whining again this weekend, the old lady haired Manc twat.

  3. Saturday Sep 8: More clickbait shite on newsnow. Apparently Harry Kane has defended Ramos over the Salah incident. Now while that wouldn’t surprise me in the least as Kane is a tit, a look at what he actually said shows that he did nothing of the sort. Honestly, this is getting fucking ridiculous now. I wish something could be done about it, but I don’t know what. Naming and shaming might be a place to start, but there’s no point me doing it, it needs to be an outlet of genuine substance with a huge reach. For the record, this is what Kane actually said: "I haven’t spoken to Jordan (Henderson) about him or the Champions League final (defeat), I don’t think he would want to talk about that too much, as I wouldn’t." "But Ramos is a competitive player. A great, great defender on and off the ball. We played against him last year against Madrid. He’s a tough centre half. He wasn’t over the top, he didn’t do anything out of the ordinary. He tests the boundaries, but that’s what the referees are there for." So he’s talking about when HE played against him, he never even mentioned Salah, but the headlines obviously say otherwise, as do the tweets that promote the articles. Then you have people reacting to the headline, and those tweets are then turned into “Liverpool fans fume as Kane defends Ramos”. Another example of this shit, the Mirror ran this: “Fred leaves Liverpool fans seething after being picked ahead of Fabinho”. Seething? Really? They pick out a few tweets from twitter cranks and run an article based on it. You’re probably fed up of me going on about this kind of shit, and I expect I’ll get bored eventually, but it’s an international break so there’s not much else to talk about. I have to go through newsnow to see what’s happening, but probably 75% of it is total bullshit like that. It's a fucking cesspit. Also today, as a follow up to what I wrote in last week’s diary I have to report that I was wrong. I under-estimated the hypocrisy and idiocy of England fans. They did actually boo Ramos, which strangely bothers me more than if they’d cheered him. I’d say of those who booed him tonight, probably 90% of them were made up when he did what he did. But now they’re booing him because… I don’t actually know, probably because morons love nothing better than booing a player from the opposing team. In other news today. Leroy Sane has left the German squad for ‘personal reasons’. Something’s going on with this lad. No idea what, and I’m not going to speculate, but it was weird that he was left out of the WC Squad, it’s weird that he’s lost his place at City and now this. Sunday Sep 9: Update on some of our lads in their internationals. Gomez is getting rave reviews for how he played in England’s loss last night. Firmino scored for Brazil. Shaqiri dazzled for the Swiss as they beat Iceland 6-0, while Van Dijk pulled off a great 1v1 tackle on Mbappe that was hopefully a prelude of what we'll see next week. Incidentally, Ryan Babel started and scored in that game, which blows my mind really. How is he still in the Holland set up? It’s mad, surely they aren’t that short of players? I used to wonder how he was getting a game for them ten years ago, but now? It's incredible really. Mo missed two penalties for Egypt but they still won 6-0. He buried the rebound from one of them, but this concerns me a bit as we’ve got a penalty taker problem and he’s one of those who might be called on to take them. Milner has missed a few, Bobby isn’t the answer, and although Mané scored a couple in pre-season I never felt like he looked convincing. In an ideal world I’d want Mo taking them to keep his goalscoring run going, but if he can’t be trusted then I don’t know what the answer is, especially when Milner isn’t in the team. Long term I could see Trent being our penalty taker, but it’s a few years off I think. By far the best thing to happen this weekend (and in fact possibly in the history of the world) though was this…. Monday Sep 10: Saw a tweet from Ramos wishing Luke Shaw a speedy recovery. I’m not reading anything into that in any way shape or form, unlike some. The replies to it were a fucking abomination. Sad cunts from City, United and Everton sucking up to him and telling him how ‘classy’ he is, and sad cunts who support us going on about what he did to Mo. Basically footy twitter at it’s worst. I keep reading people saying “we don’t care about Ramos now, we’ve moved on”. Good for you if you have. I haven’t, and I never will. I’m not going to keep sending him tweets about it though, or even worse, getting involved in pointless back and forth with morons who support rival clubs. The reason I’m not doing that isn’t because I’m over Kiev or I’ve ‘let it go’. It’s because it’s just fucking lame. I’ll tell you hear and now that I'll never let it go. I’ll always be bitter about it and I’ll always hate him for what he did. I’ll never be able to move past it, I’ll just think about it less as time goes on. I mean come on, it was a European Cup final. These things don’t come around too often. I’m still smarting over Athens and that was 11 years ago. And Athens was completely self inflicted, this one can be squarely attributed to this one fucking dastardly bastard. Fuck Sergio Ramos. Oh, and while I’m still talking about Ramos, he said this about the booing on Saturday: 'I would have liked another reception because people only remember the action of the final, and nobody remembers the death threats that my family and my children received.” Firstly, I don’t believe him. Who sent death threats to his kids? He’ll be referring to the twitter virgins who say embarrassing shit like “I hope you and your kids all die in a car crash”. There may have even been the odd sad fuck who took it a step further and actually threatened to be the one driving the other car, but I’ve said before, if someone is gonna kill you they aren’t going to log into their instagram or twitter and tell you about it first, so calling this kind of shit ‘death threats’ is just a cry for sympathy. Here's what I think about your 'death threats', you fucking cunt. Tuesday Sep 11: Listened to that voice recording of Stephen Ward talking about Roy Keane’s behaviour towards Jon Walters and Harry Arter. Difficult one this, as clearly Keane was being a massive arse and it’s largely indefensible how he acted. Then again, it’s Jon Walters and Harry Arter…. England beat Shaqiri’s Swiss. Harry Kane was rested while Trent played 80 minutes to allow Trippier to put his feet up ahead of Saturday’s game. Thanks for that, Gareth. Elsewhere, Croatia conceded six to Spain. See, this is what happens when you have to play without one of the world’s best defenders. Speaking of big Dejan though, he’s going to be out at least another month. That’s not good, despite what some would have you believe. We need him because we can’t have Gomez and Van Dijk playing every game, and when the time comes to rotate them Matip will probably have broken down with some sort of leg muscle injury again. Wednesday Sep 12: Reports in Spain suggest Barca want Moreno. I guess they need a mate for Coutinho or something? Well you can fuck off, he's playing court jester for our Brazilians, not yours. Find your own clown, knobheads. I see that Markovic is training at the Academy now. Says it all that he’s not even being allowed the courtesy of being at Melwood. Klopp must have been fuming at him not joining Anderlecht for financial reasons, as this isn’t like him at all. What it suggests to me is that Markovic snubbed that move to Anderlecht over a few grand, as Klopp wouldn't have expected him to take a massive pay cut. He's defo leaving on a free when his contract runs out. One of the worst signings (although not worst players) in club history. Thursday Sep 13: Some talk today that Karius had to leave because he lost the respect and trust of his team-mates after his Baywatch style holiday video. I can well believe it. Much as we often like to think of players as all being mates and supporting each other, the reality is different. I spoke to an ex pro about Karius over the summer. I mentioned how I felt sorry for him after all he went through, and the somewhat surprising response I got was “I don’t. I feel sorry for his team-mates as he’s cost them a Champions League win”. Pros don't think the way most of us think they would do. There will definitely have been players in that dressing room harbouring resentment towards him and seeing that video probably pissed them off far more than any of us imagined. Henderson and Milner are both old school and I’m sure they will have hated that. There'll be others too no doubt. Meanwhile, guess who is having digs at us again to try and defend himself? “Marcus Rashford is not Dominic Solanke. He is not Ruben Loftus-Cheek, he is not Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He is Marcus Rashford, a Manchester United player, with an incredible number of appearances and an incredible number of minutes played at the highest level in the best possible competitions". Fucking hell, I hate to say it but he’s got a point. Rashford is too good to not be playing regularly, but look at that England u20 side that won the world cup. Most of them aren't getting a game for their clubs, but the only young player people seem arsed about is Rashford so I can see why Mourinho is a bit sick of the double standard. Still, fuck him. Friday Sep 14: More good content from LFC TV today. Hendo and Trent doing a kind of Mr and Mrs type thing, only its called “Bezzies’. They did one with Mo and Sadio last week and it’s good. Tell you what though, Trent would do your fucking head in if you were around him every day, as he’s just ridiculously competitive. That video last week of him winding up his mates in the England squad seems like typical every day behaviour from him. He was fucking fuming every time he got a question wrong about Hendo in this too. The thing is, I love it, because it just tells me he’s going to keep getting better and better because he’ll never settle for not winning everything and being the absolute best he can be. Bet no-one wants to room with him on aways though. Meanwhile, PSG warm up for their game at Anfield by resting Neymar and still winning. This is the advantage they have, their league is a piece of piss so they can rest whoever they like and still win. The disadvantage they have is that their league is a piece of piss and whenever they come up against anyone good in Europe they usually flame out because they aren’t used to that level of competition. Looking forward to seeing how they cope with Anfield next week. That was the week that was….
