What he'll want to say now is that the Met investigation found he'd not committed an offence for this incident. Obviously the Gray report could throw that defence to the curb.

Serious questions need to be asked of the Met here too. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but it's becoming hard to avoid the conclusion that they are in league with the the Tories, or Johnson at least, and conspiring to do what they can to keep him out of trouble. let's not forget that they didn't even plan to launch an investigation until the pressure mounted, despite knowing from the outset that a number of parties had taken place in and around Downing St.

Without a doubt there would have been huge political pressure to brush this under the carpet....remember at the beginning they were saying there was no evidence of any parties..and they were having them every fucking night.

Rushed out tonight,

Labour should have been pushing for re nationalisation rather than being trumped by Sunak,

Another story in tomorrow's financial times is Johnson tried to pressure Sue Gray to drop her report all together as the police had investigated.

So is there a mens rea element to this offense?

Are they trying to claim that the Met didn't fine Johnson because he thought it was a works event?

Whereas the person they did fine thought it was a piss-up?

Because that's the only way fining one and not the other makes sense.

That or corruption, of course.

Johnson said this weeks going to be all about 'crime, crime, crime'..  we've since had the photos of an covid party, a Conservative MP arrested and suspended from the commons for rape, an inquiry launched into allegations a Tory MP drugged victims and sexually abused them, a Tory MP sent to prison for abuse of an under age boy.

It's Tuesday morning. Johnsons 'crime, crime, crime announcement is one of the very rare times the Prime Minister's words had a semblance of truth.

I believe the reason he didn't get fined and others did is because it was his residency, it was still deemed by police to be an illegal gathering.

I still don't reckon he was as sick as was made out with the vid, I reckon he threw a wobbler and that's why they packed him off to Chequers.

This is why leaders usually serve some kind of apprenticeship on which they're judged, as a leader and in one of the offices of state. He failed miserable and clearly wasn't/isn't capable.

It's impossible to think of it happening in any walk of life. If you were seconded to, say, head of IT or HR for a month and monumentally fucked up, you wouldn't be at the head of the board in your next job, unless the firm was a complete basket case.

Surely the main readership of the Daily Mail will all die out over the next few years? Who else is buying it?

All those who are suckered in by the 'side bar of shame'.

The Mail website is the biggest 'news' website on the planet by views.

*By semblance of truth it should be noted that this is purely by accident!!

Looks like the 'Most Honourable' Tory Scum would tip the national averages in crime, parties and fcking lies (albeit only requires one of them to tip the scale for the latter.

Whether he gets away with this or not, there are a lot of angry people out there, many with really sad memories, having lost family and unable to see them in last few moments/coupled with those funerals. I do think this tightrope he continues to walk is a dangerous one, someone may take law into their own hands as they simply have enough.
