We replaced Chamberlain with Churchill in 1940 when the country was basically facing an existential crisis, never mind a war only tangentially involving us. Very true. We replaced leaders in WW1 & WW2, the Tories replaced Thatcher shortly before the Gulf war.

Personally I'm fine with him leading them into the GE in roughly 18 months time. If Labour can't win then they'll never win. It'll be fun watching the Tories trying to play the law and order card.
