It also raises the obvious question of why the police didn't intervene at the time? Given that all these Downing Street 'events' were ongoing over several months and at the time police across the country were turning up at people homes and beauty spots to break up illegal gatherings, why did police offers onsite choose to look the other way?

You will have to wait for the inquiry.

It’s all designed to buy him time. A police investigation could take months and the Tories will be hoping the anger will dissipate over time

Exactly what I was thinking.

Sue Grey report delayed indefinitely, that's why they were so keen to repeat repeat repeat the mantra of "wait for the Sue Grey report" and name check her every single time.  Get her/it into the public consciousness, now it's delayed a bit so everyone chill the fuck out.  Buy some time to create opportunities to steer away from the subject and repackage good old "Boris".

Twats.

Well there is no way Cressida is going to keep her job through competence is there ?

And we have the fucking gall to take the moral high ground over corruption overseas?

Funny,a few weeks ago the met were saying there was no evidence at all of any parties.

This is the same organisation who decided it wasn't even worth questioning the prince nonce..it absolutely stinks

He’s doing his best and he got Brexit done so he deserves a birthday party, give him a break he’s really, really trying!

The number of people you hear saying this is frightening. My favourite is "he's done his best under the conditions!"

Fucking gormless plebs.

Exactly this.

He’s going nowhere

As others have said it will be kicked into the long grass and be leaked out in a few months time ,buried under something else.

So not only do they have the vast chunk of the media on their side, but also the metropolitan police.

Its absolutely rotten

It also means Johnson doesn’t have to answer any questions about it in PMs Questions as he will just bat it away with he can’t comment whilst there’s a police investigation ongoing.

That limits him from doing his job. Maybe he needs to be suspended whilst he is under investigation by the police.

If Cummings is half as smart as he thinks he is nows the time to come out with whatever bombshell he’s been holding back.

He's hinted he's not prepared to give photos etc over until after the enquiry, he's definitely giving journalists a ready supply of information, he's dosn't try to deny it.

He's toast, it's just the conditions aren't favorable for his replacement to be installed now. They don't want the new guy behind the black ball on day one so they will retain him until the sun is shining.

Nah, he doesn't want to let go of the role he thinks he was born for. Only issue is that this isn't going away. Cummings is on the warpath and challenges are lining up behind the scenes too. He's just caused this to drag on and the Tories will be taking flak too for looking impotent in trying to get rid.

He has no say in this, he's toast when others say he's toast.

I was just thinking today he doesn't even have the power to have Cummins involved in an unfortunate car crash or hunting accident.

Cressida Dick just announced the Met are now investigating the Downing St party's.

Edit: Sue Gray may now be stalling her inquiry.

Might as well give it Giggseh

What a typically British version of Downfall this all is. Russian tanks on the move to the East and our great leader is wandering around calling himself 'the big dog' and eating sponge cake.

In years to come Netflix will break streaming media with a series about these cunts

Anyone old enough to remember when Johnson categorically stated their were no party's in Downing Street, we're up to sixteen now.

Hats off to posh sloane bird Lulu Little, went from getting herself involved in the first scandal (wallpaper gate) to barging her way back into the last one.
