Best James Bond?

Classic Bond for me should be 10% Austin Powers IMO. You could actually combine Bond with an Avengers-style film and pull it off, i.e the mad genius with the laser attached to the top of mount Everest or whatever, but it went down the realism route instead.

Agree. Seen bits of the modern ones on itv4 and those type of channels when fuck all else is on. I think modern Bond films are poor versions of the Bourne films. Not even slightly funny in the way Connery and Moore were. I like Daniel Craig as an actor but think Bond should have been killed off a couple of decades ago.

PS Section's Austin Powers suggestion is a good one but more than 10% would be a good idea.

How do you know you don't like them if you've only seen bits of them?

 

I've seen all the Bond films many many times and once upon a time was a bit of a Bond nerd, but there's no doubting for me that the Daniel Craig films are far superior to most other Bond films. The Pierce Brosnan ones have dated very badly very quickly.

I've seen great swathes of them,on multiple occasions as others in the household watch them and think they are formulaic and boring with over emphasis on special effects over all else. Very similar to most of the shite that Hollywood churns out nowadays. Not to my taste at all. I can easily pass a couple of hours watching a Moore or Connery Bond film though,even though I've seen it multiple times.

The idea that they will change a character because of some culture war bullshit is asinine. It will be purely with profit motive in mind.

I've always been fond of the Timothy Dalton ones. Can't watch the Moore ones these days. Connery will always be brilliant.

Doesn’t the entire contrived concept of “James bond” just being a code name render this debate moof? The actual person carrying the title changes every so often, why do they have to carry over all of his character traits and flaws?  It makes no sense
