If we've got a watertight contract stating West Ham have to pay us £17m at the end of the season subject to the player agreeing the move then I'll be over the fucking moon.

What's more likely however is that it will fall through and Carroll goes to Stoke for about £10m.

Two years on I still can't believe it THIRTY-FIVE MILLION POUNDS!!!!!!!

Er, this was agreed at the outset and clearly stated by Liverpool. The fee was £2m for the loan with agreement for a further £17m at the end of the season if whu stayed up.

That said, I still think Carroll will want to go back to the toon and will try and get that move.

I dont harbour the lad any grudges. The current manager hasnt given him a chance to adapt (look at henderson who he was prepared to use in exchange with cash for dempsey).

Think of it this way, a £2m loan fee and a £17m transfer fee gives us £19m for Carroll, which is the same as Milan paid for ballotelli.

Sweet Jesus, I know Mario had a questionable attitude, but there's no denying his ability, whereas there is every reason to deny Carroll ability.

I know where id put my £19m, and it wouldn't be on a geordie!!!

The initial agreement West Ham were offering was for them to compelled to buy him at the end of the season if they stayed up. Carroll wouldnt agree to that as at that stage he thought he could still make it here.

Now it is just a option for them to buy him with an agreed fee..

But he's young and had just come back from injury! Give him time. Oh this isn't the Borini thread...

You don't need to analyse 40 games before deciding if a player is going to be useful or not when they offer absolutely nothing.

They will surely try to get out of paying £17 million for him if they possibly can do. There is bound to be a way that they can swerve it. It will turn out that Ayre only had a "gentleman's agreement" with them or something.

I thought that was already understood, it's an option to buy, not a contracted commitment.

That's KGB code for "never, ever, ever going to fucking happen and we are going to stuck with the cunt for ages because nobody wants him" isn't it?

Him and Torres should have a "stink off" to decide the worstt signing in the just who is the worst signing in the entire history of football. It's a tough one that's for sure

torres hands down. carroll wasnt that fucking bad! winner against everton in the cup semi.... ive still got a semi for the lad

We should be putting billboards up around Stoke and getting adverts on the local radio station to get Pulis interested. He'll have a hard-on for Carroll no doubt, and he seems to be willing to pay big money for big players.

Still think he'll stay at West Ham - I've said it before that Allardyce doesn't give a shite how many Carroll scores. He needs flick-on/knockdown machine for Nolan, and given that this is Plan A, Plan B and Plan C for the fat twat, he wants the best in the business. He'll happily pay £17m for the biggest, strongest centre forward in the country. If there's no agreement in place, maybe him and Pulis can have an arm wrestle/tug of war/mongoff for him.
