Saw him speak at an event a few years back (& shook his hand). Never realised quite how much these guys were making stuff up and using guesswork on a shoestring budget when they were designing the kit. They never really knew whether any of the designs would work properly or what might happen up here. The guy had balls of steel for just getting in the rocket. One of the few true heroic pioneers

They saw evidence of non-human life on the moon. That's why he went underground. And that why they have never been back.

except for all those times they went back.

One small step for a man, a giant leap for mankind.

Neil Armstrong was in front of mankind's by far biggest achievement. It would have been fantastic had they pulled it off today. That they actually managed it 43 years ago with the technology available then is just absolutely fucking mindblowing.

A picture of Armstrong during his finest hour. Immortal and never to be forgotten. Photo by Buzz Aldrin.

Newsflash anyone who thinks the moon landings were fake or that they found alien life...you're a c**t.

Anyone making jokes about the death of this hero...you are a douche.

This was a man or rare and sturdy character. The best of humanity. Brave enough to be a test pilot and then an astronaut. His techniques and skills when landing the lander (taking manual control etc) is the stuff of true legends.

In centuries time the history of the 20th century will have one thing as the most important event and Neil Armstrong did it,

Is right.

Its a little known fact that because of the type of fuel used on the LEM ascent engine, it couldnt be tested before use because the fuel effectively wrecked it. In other words it was a one use engine and the only time they could use it was to lift off from the moon.

Can you then imagine what must have gone through their minds when after the moonwalk and they got out of their suits, Aldrin then found the switch used to literally fire up the engine had broken off and was lieing on the floor!

Aldrin had to use part of a pen to set the switch instead.

I think that was the least of their problems. Short circuiting a switch was nothing to the likes of Armstrong and Aldrin.
