As boring as Hodgson is, he's perfect for qualifying against reasonably well drilled but ultimately shit Eastern/Central European sides, Setting up a team to just about beat Latvia. Sadly, when they meet someone in a major tournament that isn't shite, well, look at the World Cup.

Rodgers would be the opposite, I think he'd make hard work of qualifying as his side would be far too open and wouldn't be able to defend. If it all clicked at a tournament, though, he'd have half a chance of doing pretty well.

You got to give Hodgson credit, he's the Bill Shankly of loweing expectation. I remember when people wanted Eriksson lynched for having the temerity get knocked out on penos by Portugal a couple of times. He finished bottom of his World Cup group without a win, and somehow kept his life as well as his job.

Saying that, I think the 4-1 spanking Germany gave them in 2010 left a permanent mental scar on the whole England 'we're gonna win it this time' bandwagon brigade.

Moyes told the Times:

"Would I consider going back? I’ve said if I get an exciting challenge and something that makes me feel I could get my teeth into it then I would be really interested.

"When we took over we had 11 great and successful years but we also had to rebuild the club a little bit.

"I just think now the change has been made and Everton need to now go and do it again.

"If you give David Moyes an opportunity he tends to rebuild a club and he tends to get it going in the right direction and making sure that things are correct and I’m looking forward to getting the chance to do that again."
