Anyone know where to find the BBC's expert pre-season predictions?  Can't seem to find the right phrase on google to pull up the page but I'm almost certain there was a comment in there from one pundit that "United will probably be on top of the league table after 10 games, given their easy fixtures."

Probably from John Motson. he predicted them to win this league this year.

Actually it was Waddle  (after eight games)

Reportedly there's a clause that their payout is decreased by a massive amount (north of 30%, I think?) if they miss out on CL for 2 seasons in a row.

Oh OK, hadn't heard that - thought they'd been quite insistent it wasn't performance based. Does that include the seasons where adidas aren't sponsoring them, so if they do finish out of it this year, the first year of the deal is screwed? That would be funny.

Imagine it is. Standard part of the sponsorships now.

This season we will get more from Standard Chartered because of our qualification for the CL.

Unfortunately it's two seasons during the contract, which starts next year, so they have a fair bit of time to rebuild.

I doubt the Glazers will want another summer spent blowing wads of cash if it fails to bring about the desired result this season. They'll be wanting to hold back more of the Adidas money than they would otherwise.
