the atmosphere has certainly played a part. spain have been booed in this confed cup since day 1, if they are passing around in the back, the brazilian crowd heckles them.

certainly different from the way they are usually adored by other crowds.

Thanks, this is actually the first match I've watched, so don't know much about it! Had to watch this final, but wow, expected so much more from Spain, haven't even enjoyed the match at all really.

Seems as though Brazil took a leaf out of Bayern's book from when they played Barcelona, as they were very intense with their pressing and looked to threaten in numbers on the counter. Spain just never got to grips with it. Just a few things though.

Arbeloa certainly had a dreadful first half and rightly got the hook at half time, as a second yellow was a near certainly. His part in Brazil's first goal wasn't great, but the commentators and BBC pundits got it wrong when assigning all of the blame on him. It was Pique that was all over the place in that attack, and it left Arbeloa to cover two players. Given where the ball was, he couldn't have got to it without ploughing through Fred first, and he couldn't leave Neymar free either. The ricochet was a bit fortunate for Brazil and Fred.

As soon as the penalty was given, Ramos picked up the ball and went to take the penalty. Xavi and Iniesta didn't look too impressed. It was a little too 'me me me' from Ramos, regardless of the fact he's scored in shoot-outs for Spain.

Lastly, the commentators kept talking up Brazil as doing big things in the World Cup on the back of this game. Granted, they might yet, but the same has been said of them after the Confederations Cups of 2005 and 2009. It was also said of France after they won the 2001 Confederations Cup. In each case there was an element of some players peaking a year too soon combined with a fair amount of complacency.

Spain just look like they need a breather given that key elements of the team have played almost constantly over the past 5 years for club and country. Del Bosque doesn't like to change things much, but he needs to find a way to incorporate other players into the team without having to revolve everything around the same core group. If the core of a team is jaded then the team will struggle to show the right hunger to keep the results coming.

Great performance from Brazil, but, how can Spain not have anyone better than Torres to play upfront for them? He has been absolutely shite all tournament.

If Del Bosque even takes him to Brazil next summer, then Torres must have naked pictures of him bumming a horse.

To no-one in particular, this U20 World Cup has been a brilliant contest. These kids have been absolutely class, especially the quarter finalists. Ghana v Chile right now has been quality. I think France will win the whole thing.

Flicking round the tv last night happened on the last 5 minutes of extra time between Iraq & South Korea. Managed to cop for 2 goals & a penalty shoot-out all in about 20 minutes. ( Iraq won on pens ***).

*** It may be subject to an inquiry, as Iraq appeared to have Milan Baros in goal and Rio Ferdinand taking a penno.

The Nigeria Football Federation has suspended four teams involved in "scandalous scorelines" after two lower league clubs chasing promotion and needing to boost their goal differences won games 79-0 and 67-0.

In the matches, played at the same time, Plateau United Feeders reportedly scored 72 of their goals in the second half to beat Akurba FC 79-0. Police Machine swept 61 goals past Babayaro FC in the second 45 minutes of their 67-0 game.

The NFF called it "a mind-boggling show of shame" and said players, match officials and the tournament coordinator would be investigated for match-fixing.

The federation's director of competitions said "anyone found to have played some role in this despicable matter" would be "severely dealt with".
